"My name's the shortened one." D'lan replied. He hesitated, then added, "I don't know your name, I'm sorry to say."
There hadn't really been a reason for him to know her name, after all. The affairs of Golds and their bonded were none of his business, nor had he spoken to her before.

"Oh, I'm Lynn. An 'at's Masdana," I said, indicating Mas.

Sarinth gave Kyja a hard nugde from the back, almost knocking her rider over. Go talk to that rider. Lynn's talking to him.
I don't want to.
Go, or I'll make you go.
Kyja reluctantly walked over, Sar following in her weird hop/waddle. 'Hi,' said Kyja, 'My name's Kyja. This is Sarinth.'

"H'lo..." D'lan trailed off, then stepped back, with the distinct feeling he was being ganged up on. Son of a Lord Holder, he knew how high-ranking people were supposed to be treated, though his experience had come from the other end. "It is an honor to speak with you all." He said formally. After all, it wasn't possible to overdo it, while underdoing it could upset people.
You're scared of them. Plinth mentioned casually. She wrapped her tail around his waist, a small and familiar comfort.

Why is he afraid? Kyja thought to Sarinth, turning around to scratch one of the gold's eye ridges. I don't know. The only human who's mind I read is you, Sar replied, with a hint of sarcasm. Kyja sighed, and, as she heard the instructor clearing his throat, said, 'Well, I've got to be going now. I think we're going to start up the lesson again soon.' And with that, she walked back to where the rest of the werylings were gathering, Sarin following with that weird hop/waddle of hers.

"Goodbye."
D'lan leaned back, for Plinth had gotten close enough to support him against her body, and turned slightly to glance at the instructor. He wasn't watching them. Good. D'lan looked back down at the ground, and kicked at a rock awkwardly.

((Ok, roleplay is where you create a character, and you live that character's life by roleplaying them. But in this RP, since it's Pern, you kind of need to have at least a little Pernese knowledge, or else it would get really horribly confusing.))

'Ok, guys, let's just do some regular flying to cool down now,' the instructor said, 'Fly back down, and go take care of your dragons. Shoo!' Kyja clambered up onto Sarinth's neck, and the gold took off. Kyja enjoyed the feel of wind in her face as they approached the ground.

I leaned against Mas, waiting until after the original flurry of movement to be off the ground first. I raised my hand in a casual acknowledgement of seeing Kyja and Sarin, turning my head to face Mas.
"Cool down?" I joked. "Doesn't he mean warm up? It's a lot warmer here than between."
You've got a good point there, Mas joked along with me.

D'lan and Plinth soared in the air, flying high and spiralling downwards a few times to wipe away the memory of between. After a few moments, they joined the rest of the riders in landing on the ground.
Plinth yawned and stretched her wings as D'lan dismounted. I'm tired.
"I'm not." D'lan shrugged and looked around. "Are we close enough for me to walk back? If we are, I won't mind if you go find a rock to nap on."

Sarinth spiraled down for a graceful landing, Kyja clinging to her neck ridges. The two rides between had left her tired. I want to go for a swim, and then nap, said Sarin. 'Ok, fly us to the lake,' said Kyja. Sarin obeyed, and in a few moments they were at the lake. 'I'll lay here and nap while you swim,' Kyja said. Ok. Sarinth flew out over the lake, and plunged into the water. Kyja watched through exausted eyes as the gold surfaced, and paddled about in small circles. Before Kyja knew it, she was fast asleep. Sarin swam around for a little bit, than came back to shore. Shaking off her wet wings, she walked quietly up to Kyja. Grabbing the girl's wherhide riding tunic in a gentle mouth, she pulled the deeply sleeping human over to a large rock that was nearby. Sarin pulled Kyja up onto the rock, and then got up on the rock herself. Taking Kyja in her mouth again, she positioned the girl to lay between her enormous dragon forearms, as if in a cradle. Finally satified, Sarinth lay her giant golden head down near Kyja's sleeping body, and slept.
