((Ok, I just want to make something clear real quick. I'm sorry if I sound mean or mad, but I'm not. I'm just saying though: people keep telling us how out of line and not following the rules we are, just because we made up silvers. It's REALLY NOT that out of line. An RPG is so you can put yourself in a made-up world. You can do anything you want! Well, within reason... anyway, creating silvers is not changing Pern at all. It's not even changing the other dragon colors at all. It's just adding something to Pern's already very diverse heritage. I just wish people would stop making it out to be something awful. Oh, and Quietus, I'm not blowing up at you. This has been bugging me for awhile. Nobody said anything when IDL made the platinum! This is not any different! Oh, and CrazyWriter: I love this RP too!!))

That's fine. I just want to RP. I'm not going to get upset because I know you're ignoring Anne McCaffrey's rules, because if I care enough to be bothered, I shouldn't be RPing on this thread in the first place.

((*nods* But really, we aren't disregarding all of Anne McCaffrey's rules. All we are doing is creating one more minor subdivision of dragon. Who ever said that it could definatly never-in-a-million years not happen? I'm sorry if I'm bulldogging this subject way to much... I'll stop now.))

((I think I might as well temporarily quit this RP... Reasons? 1) I've already said it. I've been cut off (except at the library) 2) My..er..."H" habits stink; they seem to be getting worse.3) This board is getting closer and closer to a GMers RP. What I mean by this is that it's getting too far away from Canon [SILVERS!?!?!?!] 4) I've never actually finished any of the Dragonriders of Pern books.Sorry guys.)) OOC--- Spirit: I didn't mean to aggrivate you, it was just the straw that broke the camel's back for me. In my opinion, silvers seem kind of god-modish. (Probably the whole "choice" between clutch and firestone) That's only one opinion, right? Please take note that the bold stuff is the main reason I dropped this RP. Also note the italisized and bold text at the very beginning. That, and my mother took away Dragonflight when I was just starting to get into it.

((I'm so sorry I've been so.... dumb. I've just realized... I could make quite a few comparasons between me and the person I despise most in one of my RPG guilds on Neo. I just kept bulldogging a bad idea, and I wouldn't give the thing up. I can change Sarinthine to a gold. I just didn't want her green, because greens are frequently referred to as the 'less intelligent' subdivision. CrazyWriter, we could switch Mas and Sarin to golds, since they're both having clutches anyway, and pretend this didn't happen. I'm sorry.... I've probably been a nightmare, and I would have been a lot less nice to me had I been you other people. Thanks for putting up with me.))

{Yeah, I could change Mas into a Gold, but I like the Silvers.... They're neat.... Oh well, I had Mas as a Gold in the beginning, she can be a Gold now! Besides, if we were both Silvers and flew the Platinum, onle one of us'd end up with a clutch, and we'd probably see the other as god-moding if they caught the Platinum.... Now we both get clutches!
Okay, since no one's actually RPed for the last few posts, I guess I'll get going...}
Our between instructor walked up in front of us, his Brown not far behind.
"Mount your dragons," he told us.
There was a shuffle of wings and riding clothes as dragons bent down for their riders to mount.
"Now, everyone, fly to Star Rock and go to the lake. Stay at the hight you were instructed for."
Everyone respectfully waited for Kyja and Sarinthine to fly before they took off. Bitterly I noticed that once she had taken off, no one waited for me. As usual, I was last to fly.
You'd think they'd show a bit of respect for you, Mas.
They do. The same respect they show the Greens, we thought to each other bitterly.

As Kyja mounted Sarinthine and Sarin took off, she felt the first thrill of flight she always felt whenever she rode. But that was soon replaced with a twinging guilt. No one had waited for Lynn and Mas. Sarin, are they upset? Kyja asked. Yes, said Sarinthine, sounding slightly less arrogant than usual. Kyja bent low over Sarin's neck, keeping Star Rock in her view.

OOC| Don't worry 'bout anything; I'm very laid back right now, and don't mind either way. By the way: the males fly the females, never the other 'way round. The Platinum would be able to father two separate clutches with two separate females.
*sigh* I'm switching to my Weyrling character. My other one really can't fit in. Should've used D'lan at first, personal preference be darned.
Oh, and I declare any and all conflict to be null and void, as of now.

Dragon and rider leaped into the air with the rest of the crowd, after Sarinthine. They flew slowly, and started to lag behind. That was alright.
We're going to learn how to go between. Green Plinth pointed out unnecessarily to her rider. She didn't turn her head though, focusing carefully on her flight path. D'lan was nervous, she was nervous, and they hadn't been flying nearly long enough to be truly confident in the air. Turning and twisting didn't seem very safe, considering.
I hope it's not too hard... D'lan thought back to her in worry. He didn't even know how to ride a runnerbeast! Going between like a real dragonrider scared the living daylights out of him. What if they got stuck? What if it took too long? What if they did something wrong?

Kyja reached the Star Rock with Sarin. The instructor was already there. 'Now,' he said in a crisp voice, absently scratching his brown's eye ridge, 'all I want you to do is just go between to get to where we took off from. You all know perfectly well what it looks like. Just give the mental image to the dragons, and they will do the rest. And, very important, do not panic. The first time you go between can be frightening, but you will be out shortly. Just say the rhyme, and don't think about anything else.' Kyja sat tall, and tried to keep her knees from shaking. She was terrified, but she tried not to show so. Well, Sar, she said in mind-speak to Sarin, it's now or never. And, gulping in air, she gave Sarin the mental picture, and the command to go between. It was like nothing that Kyja had ever experianced before. She could feel nothing, see nothing, hear nothing. But there was a deep cold all about her. She began to panic, but told herself, This is normal. They told us it would be like this. It's ok. Sarin's here, and I'll be out in a flash. She began the rhyme they had been taught, but before she finished, suddenly it was like they had burst forth from a dark abyss, and suddenly Kyja could see again, hear again, and feel Sarinthine under her. As soon as Sarin had landed, Kyja dismounted shakily. 'We did it, Sar,' she said in an unsteady voice, 'we did it.' She flung her arms around what she could grab of Sarinthine's soft neck, and scratched her eye ridges. 'I can't believe we did it!' Sarinthine looked smug. I knew you could do it the whole time, she said complacently, you're a perfectly capable human.

We should do it now, before it's too frightening... D'lan told Plinth reluctantly. After all, every dragonrider knew how to do it. It couldn't be too impossible. He focused on the image in his mind's eye. This was there, that was over there, and sun was positioned just right... Cold. That was all he could think of. Any water, including a small damp spot he'd gotten on his tunic somehow, froze instantly. He couldn't see--it wasn't even seeing black. It was seeing nothing. His hands were numb, if he even had hands still.
Blessed relief. Plinth with him, protection and comfort and love rolled into one.
We're here. We're not alone. There's more than nothing.
Light. Heat. Air. It was all back--the eternity he'd experienced had translated into only mere moments in time. Weak with relief, Plinth and D'lan landed heavily on the ground.

I came out with everyone else-slightly after, due to my delayed takeoff-and looked around at everyone. One boy, a Brown rider, was trying to hide behind his dragon. I grinned at the sight-he'd most likely wet himself.
I don't understand, Lynn.
Don't understand what?
They seem so scared of between. Why is it frightening?
Because, it's... nothing.
I don't understand.
You remember how the boy from the lower caverns kept waking up everyone down there because he said there were giant tunnel snakes under his bed?
There was nothing there, and no tunnel snakes were found at all when the tunnels were searched.
Exactly. He was afraid of nothing. So are they. Only, in between, the nothing is all around. It's not under a bed. It's everywhere.
Mas was silent for a while. She feels guilty, you know.
Who?
Kyja. Kyja and Sarinthine.
Why?
Because no one waits for you. There was a note of bitterness at that sentance, though not for Kyja.
Tell her not to feel guilty. It is not her fault, it is the fault of those who don't believe in you.

Sarinthine quieted for a moment, then said, Mas said that Lynn said to tell you not to feel bad. It's not your fault. Kyja looked down. The thrill of going between for the first time had gone. I still feel bad Sarin... but tell them thank you, that does make me feel better. Sarin nodded her great head slightly, and relayed the message.

Sarinthine says that makes Kyja feel better. Shall I tell her anything?
No, Mas. That's all right.
I looked over at the Gold and her rider. Sarin was by far the largest Gold from the hatching, especially compared to Mas. That didn't matter, though, when you considered she was my only real friend. I was on good speaking terms with several of the blues and greens, but that was it.
