Would a guild for Sky Pirates be a fair idea for a new guild? Or would it be too close to the original Pirate guild.
I'm in love with the idea of giant steam-powered Pirate ships soaring across the sky, and maybe even out of space, much like in Treasure Planet.
Maybe give some compitition to that Spacefleet?
Tell me what ya'll think.

Tell me what ya'll think. I think Sky Pirates are a bit too close to the original Pirate guild. Not that it's unoriginal, it's just that the Pirates guild... isn't quite as normal as one would think. Though I like the idea of having a guild that can compete against Spacefleet in terms of technological advances, the idea is that it'll better be suited under the original Pirates guild. Besides, they already have The Black Beekadoodle.

Fair enough. Better to ask than to go on unknowing, eh? =)

>> Although I can't see why we couldn't have a Sky Pirate in the Pirates Guild, so long as they bring their own ship. :3 We're as diverse as pirates come, yes. >D And then this ship and the Beekadoodle could have races and stuff.

Actually, on a related note, an Airforce guild might have some stock in it. One that's based on avionics rather than technology. Just a suggestion.

And your post I have quoted made me think of this. We don't have a guild of animal people or beast warriors or something of the like. Chivalry & Nobility (Knights), Technology & Space (Spacefleet), Magic & Spells (Mages), Refined & sacred arts (Ninja), Cloak & dagger (Mercenaries), and Naval thievery (Pirates).

We don't have a Guild for haberdashery and line dancing either, doesn't mean we need one. xD Besides which, animal people and such can pretty much filter into the other Guilds - look at Keng in Spacefleet, and Omni and Nature in the Mages, and bunch of other people, probably. Though the idea of them living in some kind of nomadic clan or some such is oddly appealing. ... On an on-topic note, I have a vague character in mind who I was considering joining the Pirates with, and having a Sky Pirate ship there for him to ogle would be pretty spiffy. x3 Avionics, now - there's a good idea. Maybe there could be ornithopters, which are the awesome.

[glow=red,2,300]I prefer the term, "high-risk trading" to "naval theivery." Shino-san, you flatter us so much. Yeah, the Weewoo has minimal flying ability, but if you're looking to make Cap'n Hunty the beginnings on an armada, I'm sure she wouldn't object. [/glow]

Yeah, the Weewoo has minimal flying ability, but if you're looking to make Cap'n Hunty the beginnings on an armada, I'm sure she wouldn't object. [/glow] High-risk trading, very profitable, operates in all ports near you and most ports that aren't near you, and mostly specializes in trading precious metal and gemstones for steel and lead :3 And she would, in fact, object because multiple ships mean multiple crews and we simply don't have enough guildmembers for that. We might end up with everyone captaining their own ship with nothing but NPC crewmembers and that'd be a leetle weird. S'probably why all guilds have centralized power. Not much guildly interaction when there are fifty miles of salty water between you and all other five active guildmembers >> (Not that I'd object to the title of Pirate Admiral x33) But yes, the Weewoo can fly upon certain circumstances (as in, when it's in deep trouble. Not a hard to get situation in our RPs.) If you want airships, I can tack on a couple tanks of hydrogen, no problem, good light ammo :3

... O'course, someone could have their own lightweight airship (technically airboat, but that doesn't sound as good xD) and use it to scout and such, like how some Spacefleet members have their own shuttles. In case having tanks of hydrogen got too flammable. x3

An antro like guild was thought of before, but was never formed.

As I see it, there's a very nice balance with the guilds as they are right now. We have Spacefleet and Mages (technology vs. magic), Knights and Mercs (honor/chivalry vs. money/amorality), and Pirates and Ninjas (classic rivalry). If I really wanted, I could draw more complex associations than this, but you get the point. It might just be that I'm more than a bit OCD, but I think it would be difficult to disrupt this balance by adding another guild. Also, most of the major themes are covered. I mean, most of the ideas that I can think of, and that I've seen offered, either fit into a different guild or just wouldn't work in the long run--like a superhero guild, for example. It might be a good idea in a different context, but superheroes don't fit into the NTWF, and they would just be an overpowered version of the Knights.

Anthro/Beast Guild and Steampunk Guild: Nature vs. Industrialization. Two novel suggestions, if I do say so, that have A:) something no current guild has to offer, B:) a bit of interest in quite a number of people(I'm actually not sure if any NTWFers even know what steampunk is, but it's not unpopular in other places) and C:) the balance/rivalry Fraze seems to expect. Also, steampunk seems not too distant from Kopa's original request.
