Now I lost 7 times. Can someone help? My username is Buzzbuzz_g27 Scarab Ring+Leaf Shield If your pet has 10 HP like my Lupe does.. Turn 1: Above combination, Defend Then the rest of the turns Jump and Attack while using SR+LS. At least that's what I've been doing.

Now I lost 7 times. Can someone help? My username is Buzzbuzz_g27 Well, a good beginner set that would likely help is 2 scarab rings, a slime potion or lesser healing scroll (depends on your budget, the scroll is better, but slightly more expensive, you can only have one or the other equipped), 3-5 mud mixtures may be good since they heal while they attack but can only be used once per battle, and possibly a couple sticky snowballs/snow mudballs if you wish (or more mud mixtures for more healing). If you can afford a leaf shield, they work great against it, but the price has been skyrocketing since this challenger came out... Blessing the pet you plan on using with a water faerie may help too so you can get the heal ability (go to quick reference and near the bottom there is an abilities link that will take you to where you can turn it on so you can use it). When you attack, either use your species attack or the heal ability, do not fierce attack or any of that or you'll take a lot more damage from that snow mudball. Using one scarab ring and a mud mixture does decent damage and will block a little part of the snow mudball's attack.

*blinkblink* Oh, a plot... I've been sulking in a corner for the past four days about the revamp, so I didn't notice that the plot finally started. Yes, it does remind me of Atlantis... somewhat... especially the beginning. I think what threw everyone off about the gnorbu is the fact that his hands are HUGE. Gnorbu have tiny feet. Yesh. The big bug scared the socks off of me. Why does everything involve the BD at some point? My pets are just family members, not warriors. Why do they expect us common citizens to fight huge monsters just to get our reward? What if we don't LIKE fighting? What if we're Neopian pacifists? Eh? What then? That island always looked like Sloth to me. >:3 All hail the green master! *pokes guild* Omigosh. I just remembered something. My sister and I were roleplaying the other day, and we randomly made up a plot about runaway mutants, Sloth's experimental army, that shipwrecked on an island. That's what is called FREAKY, my dear friends... Although, in our plot, Hoban drifted by on a plank hoarsely croaking, "LIKE A LEAF!!! On the wiiiind." We have strange minds.

Hmm... Leaf Shields are kind of expensive... *is dead poor* Speaking of which, did anyone notice that the Leaf Shield just did a QUANTUM LEAP in price? It went from 15k, to 48k. It's so good against this guy, and everyone knows it. 48K? They were barely 6K when I brought them. XD. Talk about making a profit.

It seems the monster gets slightly more intelligent as his HP increases. XD At +50, he doesn't use up all his attacks in the first 3 turns.

For example, I use Burrow and Wedding Ring and Staff of Apocalypse (WHY?! ) on the first turn. It throws everything it has but does nothing xD And every single time on the second turn it uses a Slime Potion and nothing else. Time for a berserk then ^_^

I gave up at 50 last night, just because it was getting so repetitive. Lirasella doesn't have many more wins left in her. I'm going to try and get to 100, but I doubt I can make it. The monster is getting suprisingly strong.

Heh. I thought of an alternate theory about the island, and then discarded it.... The source of the Darigan Citadel! Points in favor: -Funny-looking smeary gray place, could have, oh, had a city lifted out of it a few centuries ago, then eroded and stuff. -On the opposite side of Neopia. (Meridell's knights appear to have crossed the Lost Desert on the way to the Orb, suggesting they got at least to the part of Neopia now containing Altador and Shenkuu.) -Rumors of a curse. (Effects of losing the Orb.) -Rumors of great wealth. (Darigan was apparently a pretty rich empire at one point.) Points against: -I'd guess the Citadel was actually on the "mainland" now containing Altador (which was probably in a time-bubble at the time) and Shenkuu. They had Unis and an Eyrie along, but that might be a long flight carrying somebody. -The island's plant life seems quite healthy, unaffected by any curse, and evidently has been for some time. -Given the language of Mad-Tongue Murphy's journal being lost ancient kin to a Tyrannian tongue, his visit to the island probably predates Darigan's accursedness! So, I think not. Though I still wouldn't rule out Sloth being involved -- after all, he's been on Neopia longer than the Neopets, according to the Neopedia. I still want to know where the Citadel used to be. And I wonder if Brightvale was once influenced by Altador. I suppose I could make something up.

OMG, SCHEFF I SO WANT NEO TO SHOW US DARIGAN'S HOMELAND!!!! I've also been scribbling about Darigan's origins myself. Nothing as well thought out as yours, however.

Here;s a niffty tip to winning. The bug has only 4 attacks. Each one is a one use item, that (everybody will die of shock here) he can only use one time! That's right, FINALLY a BD opponent that follows the rules! Most of these attacks can be blocked with leaf shield. EVEN WHEN HE GETS VERY STRONG! Now, I tested this out myself, this is my battle pet: www.neopets.com/petlookup.phtml?pet=LunelupeWith him I got the bug to +73 (that roughly 125 health). This is when I started dabling with the strategy of defense over offense. So I experimented with beating the bug with one of my lower leveled pet. Namely, this one: www.neopets.com/petlookup.phtml?pet=ShereKongI limited myself to simple equipment that;s cheap and affordable. Two leaf shields, an obsidian dagger, and a scarab ring. And no faerie abilities. I used dual leaf shield combined with improved defend to last against the 4 attacks. The first attack was the strongest possible, mud ball and illusen potion. This left me with 6 hp. The leaf shields/defending saved me. Then I kept using this until all of his attacks were used up, then just beat away at him with my dagger and ring. Easy kill. So if you're having troubles, consider a defensive strategy. I'd like to thank the good people of the OLDPD board for pointing out to me that he actually follows the rules of one use items, which is what makes this strategy possible. As a bonus, I've always imagined sherekong as one who would dual wield shields in battle, while my lupe would dual weild swords. So this is the perfect fight for my kougra personaility wise

Holy smokes o.0 *jaw drop* Well, in that case.. if you have leaf shields... the above strategy works well.
