For those of us who grew up in the 1990s, most of us probably watched this show at one point or another, thus dipping our toes into the anime pool. I would quote the opening theme from the original dubbed version, but I can't quite remember how it goes. Yes, Sailor Moon returns. The Japanese version of Sailor Moon Crystal is out, but expect the dubbed version to be out later. If you are used to the original version, it is going to be jarring to be hearing the Japanese names.
I just finished watching the first episode, and the visuals are amazing. Even though it's a remake/re-imagining/reboot, expect a few nods from the original to appear.

I would quote the opening theme from the original dubbed version, but I can't quite remember how it goes. Fighting evil by daylight, Winning love by moonlight, Never running form a real fight, She is the one named SAILOR MOON!
She will never turn her back on her friends She is always there to defend She is the one on who you can depend She is the one named Sailor... From memory, though I forget past that point. Hilarious thing is I didn't even regularly watch the show, my mom just bought me all the feature movie tapes because it was "Japanimation" as she referred to it, which she knew I watched.

Even though it's a remake/re-imagining/reboot, expect a few nods from the original to appear. Well, I imagine since this reboot's supposed to follow more closely to the manga, any nods to the original are going to be where the original and the manga share similarities. X3 I'm pretty excited for this series, though. Probably in part because my coworkers are also so crazy-hyped. We're all in our late 20s, so Sailor Moon was like one of the biggest parts of our tween/teen years. XD Not to mention it's probably the only show in my childhood that had a female hero. (At least, until I started getting into more anime) Also Nephrite was my first cartoon crush. <3 I really can't wait until the show gets to him.

My cousin is staffing Anime Expo, and the room that has the big Sailor Moon event they're having. If I remember right, almost the full dubbed cast was supposed to be there, I think some of the Japanese cast, they showed the first new episode, and they were going to give news about the dubbed version.
I haven't talked to her since the night before, so I'll have to ask what happened sometime.

Yeah, it's one of those cases where they're going to dub it as soon as possible. There was supposed to be news on it at Anime Expo. So not totally sure when (the panel was today sometime).
Some series they are getting better at dubbing almost as soon as it's released. If I remember Death Note was one of the first to try it. The dub was done like a week or two after the first airing, then shown online (for those who paid?). And now you got things like Space Dandy that are the same day. So I wouldn't put it past them to throw together a voice cast for Sailor Moon and have it out within a few weeks or so. It'll probably be a Crunchy Roll, Neon Alley/Viz/Hulu exclusive for a while. I know both are supposed to be airing the subtitled series for now though.

I usually have so much I'm watching (or playing) that I don't have time to do it all XD So I usually have plenty of time to wait XD Unless I REALLY want it, then I watch it subbed. I'm currently doing that with one series. The dub is coming out in like a month, but the company is only doing dvds/blurays in 4 episodes or whatever, so it'll be a while before I can fully watch it dubbed XD So, from what I've heard so far. The line and stuff for the Sailor Moon panel at Anime Expo was crazy XD But nothing to terrible. Not compared to the Sword Art Online 2 lines yesterday (apparently line control stinks this year). Kill la Kill's big thing went without to much issue, but that one was a paid event (had a mini concert). Hm, so I guess the Dub News was for the new redub. Chances are, like you said, the Crystal series will just use the same voice cast. I'll bother my cousin later tonight after she's done working and back at the hotel, to see what she says. Edit: Looking at the voice cast... Wow. I like some of these voices, but... I can't imagine them in their roles! I really enjoy Stephanie Sheh, but... Her voice as Usagi is a bit... Johnny Yong Bosch as Artemis is also a odd one for me XD Since he only really tends to have 2 voices XD On another note. Looking at the list is a bit confusing for me, since I never really looked at the original names besides Sailor Moon XD So I'm looking at them going, "Who is that? Who is that?" *looks them up* XD

Moon Animate Make-Up: hundreds of animators pulled together their forces and animated an episode of Sailor Moon! (DiC's English dub version) Four of my animator friends are in there. :3 (I didn't have the time to participate)

I dunno, Brian Ashcroft of Kotaku points out that the interview was mistranslated into English, and that it more sounds like there's going to be a dramatic restructuring: kotaku.com/studio-ghibli-is-not-dead-yet-1615520289He also points out that no Japanese newspapers or tv reports have talked about Studio Ghibli actually closing, and you'd think that'd be a bigger deal there. XD

That was my bad, but I was going with the information that one of my FB friends had posted. Oh, the joys of mistranslation and miscommunication.
