You're welcome, Terra, I'm glad to hear you're giving it a try! I hope you enjoy it. :) Anyone think Pretty Cure seasons 1-3 were good? I was going to watch them this Fall but am curious about whether or not they're worth the watch. Uh, I once tried to start watching it because I saw fanart of characters I know cosplaying outfits from the show, but I had a negative impression of it based on the first episode... which I didn't finish watching because it came across as every "generic good guys vs. generic bad guys to save generic peaceful land" show ever. I don't think I gave it enough of a chance to give an informed opinion, though I have heard more positive things about season 4 than the earlier seasons. To be honest I have a hard time getting into most magical girl shows; I have always meant to watch Sailor Moon since it's such a beloved classic, but find the early episodes slow going. I'm told it gets better once the other Sailor Scouts come in and there's more character interaction, though. If you haven't seen Princess Tutu or Revolutionary Girl Utena yet, I'd say those are better investments of time if you want a magical girl show. (Debatable whether Utena is magical girl, but I think it's close enough to count, and it's definitely worth watching regardless of genre.)

So I made it back from Anime Expo. Things went pretty smoothly at AX for the most part. I didn't buy much, mostly just dvds and a shirt. I did get a bunch of small free posters from various series and stuff.
The Dvd's I picked up were;
Fairy Tail (box 5) My Bride is a Mermaid Case Closed (Season 1)
I sort of think everyone should check out My Bride is a Mermaid XD It's pretty funny.
-
Also, while at AX, I went to two voice actor panels. I went to Johnny Yong Bosch (were I got to hear a story how he might have killed a homeless woman on a street corner with a bag of quarters, moral of the story don't do good things), and Eric Vale (where I learned he is very accident prone).

Anyone think Pretty Cure seasons 1-3 were good? I was going to watch them this Fall but am curious about whether or not they're worth the watch. It really depends on which one. Much like Digimon, the continuities (with the exception of the first 2, which are the same) between each season are different, so it's not like they're actually connected (well, not unless you consider the all star movies, which aren't actually canon). Actually, just to be (slightly) evil, I think I'll send you to the TV Tropes page so that you can read up on them before making your decision. All the continuities for each 'season'Oh, Nut, it's funny that you mention Sailor Moon as that, the Digimon franchise and the Pretty Cure franchise were all created by the same animation company

Season 5 is very intense at the beginning and the end, so that's definitely a season worth watching. (Though it hasn't been dubbed in English)

Oh yeah. I forgot about this until right now. When I was at Anime Expo, I stopped by the Viz Media booth. There someone was asking if I wanted to join Neon Alley, and I could be tossed into a raffle or something for a free month subscription. Well... I sort of starting to explain in detail about the problems with Neon Alley.
For those who don't know. Neon Alley is a Anime Channel owned by Viz Media. It was originally planned for PS3 and Xbox 360 on release. It would be a 24/7 channel, constantly streaming shows and movies. Sounds good.
Then came the problems. It was released on PS3 first and 360 MONTHS later. The Channel thing was really a channel. There's a schedule for shows every day, and they repeat a few times during the week. However, if you start watching the channel late (360 users), you're tossed in the middle of the series. That's not a good place to start a series...
This is the sort of stuff I brought up. Plus the fact it wasn't accessible on the computer. Well. During that talk with the person, I got some inside info (which was apparently going to be announced at the NA Panel and in the coming months).
Neon Alley is now on the computer. It will soon start up a On Demand Streaming service like Netflix. New Series will be added (which wasn't that much of a problem)
Apparently a lot of people have been complaining about the same stuff, and they've been working on it. See, I don't mind a channel form. I just don't want to watch a series I want to see, in the middle first >.>
In the end, the person slipped me a month pass and made me do a quick survey. Yep. I'll use that later when I find a good time to watch stuff...

So, I've only see 3 episodes of Sword Art Online, and I'm liking it so far. I'm avoiding most spoilers, even though I know a few. I'm waiting each week to watch the series as it's released in English.
It's sort of like a mix of the .hack// series and other fantasy based series.

Ah, SAO. I won't go into spoilers but let's just say that it takes a major downturn in the second half, mainly due to the introduction of one particular character.

I don't know if anyone but myself watches Naruto, but I just wanted to complain about the recent episode I watched I'm getting annoyed that so many episodes were dedicated to the whole Izanami/Izanagi part of the story. It was fine when it was one or two manga chapters I had to read through and that was it, but did this scene really need like four episodes dedicated to it? I get that Izanagi is this ultimate eye technique; what I don't get is how they are saying members of the Uchiha clan were arrogant with it's power when it can only be used once per eye, and then you're blind. Who is really going to conquer their clan/the world/ramen shop with only two chances to save themselves and then become useless? I don't even see the point in inventing Izanami (thereby blinding one of your own eyes), when you just have to get two good hits on the Izanagi user; then either make a third strike or just leave them blind. It all just seems relatively pointless; if the technique was multi-use, then I could understand the danger. The only person who used the technique in a practical matter was Danzo and he wasn't even an Uchiha D: Ugh D: Anyway, feel free to ignore me, I'm just venting

Hi! I'm a fan of some old anime and manga. I love Nodame Cantabile and Durarara! Nodame Cantabile is so inspiring, even today it still teaches me a lot of things. I've seen the anime, live action, and read some of the manga. Hetalia was my thing too, but I wasn't able to catch up after ep. 100 (I think). So no more fangirling for me. Doraemon is just cute. I also have tried to catch up with Fairytail but I failed. Sadly, I can't cope with 300+ episodes of shows. :3

I've seen some of the live action of Nodame Cantabile; I need to finish it someday. The amount I watched was quite entertaining (in spite of the more cheesy aspects) and I always hear great things about it.
I'm rather surprised no one's mentioned Attack on Titan since I was seeing it everywhere for quite a while. I avoided it for a while because of people talking about the gore (I ended up not finding it as bad as they made it sound) but now I'm almost finished with it; it's quite gripping and I love the animation and characters. Rather impressed with the lack of fanservice and practical female uniforms for a shounen series, too.
SAO sounded like something I'd be interested in and I've been meaning to see it, but haven't gotten around to it.

I really enjoyed Attack on Titan, although the first two episodes were so heavy that they were difficult to sit through for me. Afterwards, the gore was okay for me, I've seen far worse. The characters were really good and enjoyable, plus I do like how it wasn't completely protrayed as hopeless (even if it was close), plus the mystery of the series fascinates me. It was the first anime in a long time that I actually had to binge-watch, usually I get through one or two episodes at a time whereas here I was going through seven on average per viewing. And yes, gorgeous animation and just such a unique style. Having good female characters who aren't fanservice heps a lot too.
SAO...I am not sure whether I can recommend it. The second half was atrocious because there was so much creepy in it but the first half is interesting and I do like what they did with the concept as well as the world they created. Just...second half...ew. ._.

Just...second half...ew. ._. I still haven't properly watched Attack on Titan XD (I've seen the abridged version by Team4Star). But that's mostly because I've been reading it instead XD I figure I'll get around to watching it sooner or later. As for SAO, I like it. The first half is like a more actiony .hack//series. The second half is a bit odder. The only really creepy thing is the villain. XD They announced a while ago that more SAO is coming, taking place during the Gun Gale Online part of the story. So that could be interesting. I don't think anything will beat the actual SAO world and plot though. I mean they could do a whole series JUST on that part or in that world alone and it would be pretty good. Jumping between games is interesting and changes things up a bit after a while, but in the end it doesn't let that world live up to what it could be. Like the Alfheim Online game, it was quick and not much is seen there. It makes the world seem a bit boring.
