Heads up, guys. Nintendo made a whoopsie and accidentally leaked... well, not so much the identity of the fourth DLC character, but the company they belong to. So be careful where you go on the internet if you want this sort of thing to remain a surprise. Now, to be specific: Apparently at some point earlier today, Nintendo's webpage for Challenger Pack 4 included a trademark for SNK Corporation. So while they didn't name the character or their home game specifically, the trademark does at least narrow the possibilities down.
...That being said, I know diddly-squat about SNK games or any of their characters, so my feelings about this are a resounding, "Ehhhh."
Still, though there are still characters that I'm keeping my fingers crossed for, I can't really complain THAT much after finally getting Banjo and Kazooie after waiting so long for them. The next character could be Bubsy for all I care, really. (That's a joke, and not a hint towards the above leak. ) Well, here's what TV Tropes has to say about the spoiler company SNKMore than likely, it will be someone from either Samurai Shodown or The King of Fighters, as those two are games the company is still publishing

On a separate note, it seems that Banjo & Kazooie will be coming sooner than later, since there have been advertisements including them posted in 7-11s in Japan. The same thing was done for the Hero, who was released shortly after these ads went up. The ads also have instructions to be taken down on the 15th of this month, so Banjo & Kazooie will probably be released sometime before that date.
I'm honestly a little surprised, since I was guessing an October release date for Banjo & Kazooie. Just my own random speculations based on little but gut feelings: I think that we'll hear about the fourth DLC character in either the next Nintendo Direct (Whenever that may be; though going by past patterns, I think we'll get one this month) or at the end of a video showcase for Banjo & Kazooie, and will be released sometime this Winter. For the fifth one, I think they'll be revealed at The Game Awards in December -like Joker was- and will be released in February, which will match up with Sakurai's stated plan to get all the DLC characters out by that time.

Smash Ultimate was featured in today's Nintendo Direct Okay, I was wrong about the upcoming character It's Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury. Also, more DLC characters separate from the Fighter's Pass will be released later on

About a week late saying this, but I don't think I've ever seen people so excited about a Mii costume. I've been playing a bit with Banjo and Kazooie for the past few days. After waiting so long for them to be in Smash, I want to try to use them as much as possible from here on out. Though I'm as casual of a Smash player as they come, so I'm not too concerned about how viable they are or aren't in the competitive scene. I'm thinking about replaying World of Light with B&K (My first playthrough was done almost entirely with Kirby, save for a handful of Spirits), though I imagine that's going to take a while to do... I'm also really surprised there's going to be another round of DLC. I suppose I can still keep my fingers crossed for the handful of characters I'm hoping for? I've already mentioned that I'm rooting for the Palico from Monster Hunter to be added, but I'd also like to see a Digimon make it in. (Which would almost certainly be Agumon, if that ends up happening)

I don't think Digimon has the popularity in the video game world as much as many other series out there. Their games have always been for a small niche of fans, most only caring for the animes. It would be interesting to see a character in the game, I highly doubt it. I do want to see a Palico though. They have so many Monster Hunter things going on, but no fighter except for the Mii costumes. Marvel vs Capcom had the Hunter in the game, but it was paid DLC for a game no one really liked (was a terrible game compared to the previous). So I think it would be a good idea to toss the Palico in, especially with the Iceborn expansion that just came out. I'm honestly at a lost on what new characters they could really add. Most of the ones Ive wanted are either in the game, or stuck as trophies so never will be in the game -_-

Difference between Goku and a Digimon is that Dragon Ball started as a manga while Digimon started as a virtual pet. (And if small handheld games are good enough for Mr. Game and Watch, it's good enough for a Digimon) Digimon World for the PS1 also predates Digimon Adventure, if only by two months. Digimon being a niche series? I suppose so, but so is the Mother series. Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition is also coming out for the Switch next month, so it's not like it's a dead franchise.
I'm not exactly going to expect a Digimon, but it's well within the realm of possibility. (Especially considering that it's owner, Bandai-Namco, is not only friendly enough to allow Pac-Man to be in Smash, but is also one of the developers for Ultimate)
If I'm correct, I don't think that the Monster Hunter Mii costumes that were in 3DS/Wii U are in the base version of Ultimate. That does seem slightly suspicious to me... (That is to say, if a Monster Hunter character ends up being DLC, the Mii costumes would be very likely to be part of the wave of Mii costumes that are released alongside the Fighter Packs)

The Digimon franchise certainly has enough video games under its belt (including a Smash bros type game called Digimon Rumble Arena!) to qualify. There have even been several on Nintendo systems.
I'd really like to see a Digimon rep! Preferably a general one and not a character from one of the Digimon animes. (Like... a generic Agumon instead of anime Agumon)
A Monster Hunter rep would be cool. Hunter was a fighter in the ill-fated MvCi, so it can definitely work for Smash, too.
---
That said, I'm not really that happy about even more paid DLC fighters. Ugh. It feels like such a cash grab. ( especially when the quality of the most recent DLC fighters is... lacking.) Whenever I get a Switch I'd like to be able to play without spending an extra $100 to complete the game...

Everyone is wrong. The game will get Suezo just to freak everyone out. (Because Monster Rancher is coming to Switch)

So at the Japan Game Awards, Sakurai stated that making a Smash game for the Switch was the last mission that Satoru Iwata gave him. Dang... No wonder he's gone all-out on Ultimate.
Meant to say this earlier, but I wanted to mention my thoughts on the Banjo-Kazooie music that came with the DLC. At risk of looking a gift horse in the mouth, I am a bit saddened that there weren't more tracks from Tooie. I do also think that the choice of vs. Klungo is a bit odd; though there's nothing wrong with the remix, I probably would have swapped it out for vs. HAG 1, if it was up to me. The tracks that we got are still really good though, and seven out of ten remixes is a lot more than I was expecting. (In particular, I really like the Treasure Trove Cove remix, and the bit of Gruntilda's Lair in the Gobi's Valley remix is a nice touch. And even if they're the originals, vs. Mr. Patch and vs. Lord Woo Fak Fak are great choices)

I know nothing about Banjo-Kazooie, never got around to playing it XD And like what Sakurai said, I can play it on the Xbox! I maen, I really can... I have Game Pass, which means I have access to the games for just being a part of the subscription. Both by themselves and part of the Rare Retro Replay game XD I just don't like going back to old style games, so chances are I won't be playing them anytime soon.
I haven't gotten to play the character yet either. I only play when I go to my friend's place, and he's been moving. So haven't been able to head over.

There will be another livestream with Sakurai as he showcases Terry on November 6th at 5 AM PST / 8 AM EST. Presumably we can probably expect Terry to release the same day.
The presentation will be 45 minutes long, but it was also announced that the last DLC fighter of the first Fighter's Pass will NOT be shown. Makes me wonder then what on earth is going to be talked about aside from Terry. I'm not familiar with Fatal Fury, but he surely can't be THAT complicated of a character that it would take that long to go over him? And it can't be a reveal of a new mode, since Home Run Contest was stated to be the last one.

Hmm, that's unusually long for a character livestream, based on previous streams, which was probably around half the time. Knowing Sakurai, he'll probably troll us in some way, if he hasn't already with this announcement.

And to update everything.
It was a LOT of Terry XD
He's a fighting game character, he's about as complicated as Ryu and Ken are, with the whole being able to input commands like them.
Personally my favorite SNK characters weren't chosen XD (One appears in the background and one is a Mii though).

Yikes, Smash WiiU is super dead. I tried to play online last night and oof, only managed to find three other people - and two of them disconnected repeatedly. Not quite enough to do a single team battle. X'D
At least Splatoon is still lively, I'm still able to find full lobbies relatively quickly. XD

Tomorrow night is The Game Awards, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate is nominated for multiple awards, including Game of the Year. But the main reason I'm bringing this up is because there's a good chance we'll see the last character of the first Fighter's Pass during the event, like Joker last year. There's been a number of supposed "deconfirmations" and lists of companies the character can or can't be from. But it's such a mess with different people having conflicting information and walking back previous claims. So at this point, I'm just going to disregard it all and assume that everyone is on the table.
