So, two directs on Smash so far.
I'm wondering who's even left in Nintendo History that could join up.

Banjo and Kazooie are the big ones that come to mind for me at least, but it's a longshot since Microsoft owns Rare now. Supposedly though, the head of Xbox has said before he'd be open to allowing them in, so it's a bit more within the realm of possibility than it used to be. But it's still probably best not to hold your breath too much over it since the people in charge of Microsoft themselves would need convincing too.
Aside from that, I've got a gut feeling that Geno will finally make it this time around. The fans want him in, Sakurai himself has wanted him in since at least Brawl, he got a Mii Fighter Costume in Smash 4, and Square is friendly enough with Nintendo to allow Cloud in, so I think he actually has a good chance.
As far as Echo Fighters go, Dixie Kong and Shadow the Hedgehog are pretty obvious picks.

Yeah I'm all for Geno. And if those code name "leaks" mean anything (and chances are they're fake (but did get a couple right so far). But that Prime Rib code name is... Interesting), Puppet really points in his direction. As for Echos, Isabelle is a popular one (and again, another code name, Secretary. Though she has a assist trophy so... ;_; ). Like every game, I wanted Krystal to be a playable player... But now she's a trophy... So that's sadly the closest I'm getting to that.

New Nintendo Direct today revealed a new character for Smash Isabelle. She's not an Echo Character of Villager, despite sharing some moves

Again, not much of a spoiler when; 1: All The Internet is talking about it 2: It's Smash.

It's still appropriate to spoiler tag this, for people who would rather find out through other means.

A Smash Direct will be released on November 1st (This Thursday) at 7 AM PST / 10 AM PST and will last for 40 minutes, after which a Nintendo Treehouse presentation will air.
Looks like we'll find out the truth about that banner leak one way or the other soon...

Quick Hits from the Smash Direct Two New fighters, plus a DLC one Ken, an Echo of Ryu, Incinaroar, and Piranha Plant (DLC) . DLC is also confirmed , but with the DLC character revealed earlier, I'm not sure if that would count towards the 5 that are being made Also no more collectible trophies, but spirits of various characters from numerous games (like Shantae, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2) with some cues taken from 3DS/Wii U . They also play a role in the Adventure Mode

I can't believe Sakurai killed off the entire roster just so he could make a new Kirby game. Well, not gonna lie, I am saddened that the Grinch leak turned out to be false, if only because I really, really want to see Banjo-Kazooie as playable fighters. I guess there's still hope for DLC? I do feel really bad for the Shadow, Isaac, and Geno fans that were hoping to see them become fighters and ended up as Assist Trophies/Spirits instead, though. (It's easy to miss, but in Geno's case, you can see him attached to Shulk as a Spirit at the beginning of the Battle Arena segment) Still though, I think it's important to remember for anyone else that's feeling disappointed that you can't get angry at Sakurai because your own expectations (Which may or may not have been heightened by a fake leak) weren't met. On the same note, let's not be smug about the whole thing and rub it in the faces of those that didn't see their wishes come true. (I'm not accusing anyone here of either attitude; but I've been seeing it elsewhere and wanted to get this off my chest) I will admit however that I did raise an eyebrow at the Piranha Plant being confirmed as a fighter. I guess this is the obligatory "Who asked for this" fighter that nearly every Smash game has?

I liked everything shown in the Smash direct except for the announcement of paid DLC fighters.

I liked everything shown in the Smash direct except for the announcement of paid DLC fighters. They were going to do it. I mean, look at the last game we got several. So of course they were going to add more. Here's hoping for some of the ones people keep asking for, but not the stupid impossible ones that people whine about the most.

Anybody considering any unique controller options for Smash Ultimate?
Right now I just have a Pro Controller and two pairs of Joy-Cons and additional players can bring their own controllers if they want to come over and play. I'll admit I played Melee at a friend's house and never owned a copy myself nor did I ever own a GameCube so I don't have any GameCube controllers.

It's hard to believe that the game is only coming out in two days. Where does the time go? Anyways, time to share my thoughts on the game.
I've been revisiting Super Smash Bros. Melee in preparation for Ultimate in an attempt to sharpen my skills. I'm just realizing how pitiful I am at fighting against a CPU - even with the limitations of its AI and all - so who knows how I'll be able to fare against another player? After previously having mained Kirby when I was younger (before reading how weak he is considered to be in Melee), I'm practicing using mainly Pikachu, and focusing on Lighting mode to train myself to have faster reflexes.
My top fighter pick in Ultimate will be Snake because of my interest in the Metal Gear Solid series, and I'll also be using Ridley, Daisy (IMO her design is adorable), and Pac-Man (owing to his iconicness - here's hoping that he's been strengthened significantly from what I've heard about him in SSB4), just to name a few. I'd even give Pichu a try, just for the extra challenge and necessity for a more creative strategy that he demands. Bottom line: I'm very satisfied with the character roster in Ultimate, even if I'm still curious and optimistic about the future DLC.
Being able to choose from a whopping 103 stages, combined with the fact that they each have Battlefield and Omega variations suited for competitive play, is also really something that I'm looking forward to. Stage Morph is an amazing addition as well.
My only real disappointment is that Stage Builder doesn't seem to be returning, but I can't complain too much considering all the hard work and resources that have gone into the development of Ultimate that would make implementing a Stage Builder less feasible. Not to mention, the greater amount of stages probably makes such a feature not as absolutely necessary. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a major DLC update, nonetheless.
I'm going to attempt to arrange to get Ultimate as soon as I can. If only I can find the missing cords for my Switch...
