Skarl had a higher difficulty that Jeran because his blubbery mass pretocted him from blows. Kinda like how Hommer Simpson can take cannonballs to the gut and stand around being punched in the head for hours. As for the issue with Jeran dieing, well, he'd be like Daniel Jackson in Stargate, you can kill him a thousand times if you want, he's still going to come waltzing through that door as soon as someone says some nice things. Or if Psellia shows up again XD Exactly! On another note, if things were to go the way the would really go in ancient times, if there was no blood heir relative to inherite the throne (or even if there was) it would be most likely that civil war would break out. The lords and ladies of the runner up families would start stabbing eachother. The winners take the throne. If there were only a female daughter left by the fallen monarch, war would still ensue. Unless the girl goes queen elizabeth before then.

Tor certainly appears to be a commoner by birth -- he left his home village in Meridell and was, I believe, knighted by Skarl for extraordinary achievement or something like that. There might actually be more room for Rohane's dad to be of higher rank, though perhaps not his mom; I think Tor's parents are both alive and well on their farm. Jeran was born in modern-day Neopia Central, as far as I can tell. But he was quite likely adopted or at least raised by knights/nobles/Skarl himself, showing up in the castle as a kid like he did. So all of them were commoners? I mean, Jeran and Tor? And then they just rose up to become famous, is that it? Technically, in real medieval history, it's rather possible for commoners to become knights just for doing extraordinary things that prove them before their lords/kings/whatever. And as for Rohane's dad being of a higher rank... *cough*AHERO'SJOURNEY*cough* And, yeah... When TNT says heroes never die, they mean it. XD Very much. Very, very much. XD I bet they just didn't want to disappoint the fangirls.

My theory was that Skarl was pigging out on strength/defence/health-boosting neggs. Neopian Steriods!

Muah, I, faithful follower of Meridell but-mostly-of-Lisha-and-Kayla *cough* *cough* shall join. :-)
Ahem, I quote the reason Jeran isn't dead; "Heros never die, they just go away for awhile. And they always come back, when we need them most." I can say that in a really old, wise way.
It's so easy to be wise. Think of something stupid to say, and then don't say it.

Health neggs, inneresting. He probably stuffed himself with neggs, day in and day out...and then when a Darigan warrior attempted to fight him, they just kinna...bounced off, because he's like a giant trampoline.....

Peh, if Hagan is considered 'wise', we must all be geniuses. I said to him, "If there's one thing I can't stand, it's hard work." He said that he wasn't dense and he knew that already.

Well, his brother is Skarl, so what can I expect? That's the first time anybody's ever quoted me. I now feel an official part of the NTWF. ;D I told King Skarl; "Evil Skeith? Skarl!" and he laughed. And gave me some gruel. It was rather odd, maybe he lost all his good sense and went insane after the second Meridell War. So why he's still king of Meridell is a mystery to me. Kauvara should be elected queen. *nodnod*

And, to liven this place up... disco-dancing Darigan!
