Yeah, that is odd. But that could also be the real pet, and this one is the joke pet. It's still possible. But yes, I like Meowth's version. And Spot's.

I have long feared that they would start retiring pets. Fear because the Lenny has almost always been the recipient of the wooden spoon (not counting ltd ed. pets). Sure there's less Rukis, but they've only been around for a little while. Lennies are like, 7 years old, and they only just recently broke a million. Noooooo! Not my Lennies... I bet if you made them limited edition all of their adoptable numbers would disapeer in a day and everyone would want one. It's like when someone once never had their potatoe crop stolen and no one would buy their potatoes until he/she put a fence around them. Talk about playing with people's minds. (this was WAY back mind you.)

*nod* Nobody's going to retire Lennies. Not after the not-so-recent-but-still-recent Faerie color. As a matter of fact, if they ever plan retiring any pets, they should start from the top. There are already millions of Shoyrus in Neopia, if those were retired, that'd give the less popular ones a chance.

Maybe today they'll update the news on it. _____________________________________________
EDIT: Seeing as it's Caption Contest Image number 669, maybe in 16 weeks we'll know. ;D

At least, they'd better not be.

...mmph. I've got mixed feelings on this pet. I actually do think that it's cute *dodges rotten tomatoes*, but it really doesn't look like a Neopet. It's more like some kind of humanized plot character.
Love the ear things, though!

I'm gonna go with Tdyans on this one - it sounds like it would be a joke. Releasing caption contest and shopkeeper images before the pet itself is released? Sounds too coincidential to be an accident - they may screw up from time to time, but never that badly.
...Hopefully it's a joke. Not only are they releasing too many pets (in my opinon), but this one is just... weird looking...

I don't think they're releasing too many pets, but I may change my opinion if they release this thing. It's definitely too close to the Xweetok release.
It looks very weird and badly drawn. I could get used to it, though.

Hm, wouldn't it be fun if it really was a new pet, but it could only be adopted on Christmas? x3 Though seriously (now I'll fall into philosophy, run away while you still can), Neopia is a world without death. Species keep coming, new pets are being created but none ever go away. Even the pets on frozen accounts can still be found via the Search toolbar. Eventually there must be an edge of some sort. Maybe when every day of the year is a pet day, or when the servers can't take billions and billions of pets any more, that's distant future. But with today's tempo that line will come. You know why death exists - to make room for the living. And the living just keep coming and coming... o__o
I don't want any pet to be retired, and they can't possibly make all pets restricted... am I the only one seeing a dead end looming out there somewhere?

But the Castle Defender, as well as some other pets, are dead, or at least ghost'd. Perhaps looking for a frozen pet can be considered looking up a death record? Kess once made a board based on Neopian philosophy, it was a good topic, that should have been made a sticky. Also, I noticed something. 16 weeks from yesterday, or 16 Caption Competitions, should fall right around April Fool's Day. Any relation?

I love Shoyru's Although I have two already so I probably wouldn't get anymore I hope they don't retire any pets - limiting them is good enough I think.
