Short Story ReviewsThe Secret Diary of Danner Carnahan by nimras23. Sorry but I love this too much to give one of my usual reviews. First of all, *squee* at the custom picture. Ah, well. I did admit my Danner fangirl-ism here at the NTWF (which you've spread at the NTAG, Nim XD). When I read this (which was way back when I was previewing Issue 285 ), I was laughing out loud throughout most of the story. I even went back and read Jeran's diary again just to compare their stories. ^_^ Danner is really a much more sensible guy than Jeran is. And I refuse to believe he screams like a girl. Two thumbs up! The Secret Diary of Laurana Rose- READ IT AND DIE! by reasonably_crazy. Congrats, Rease. This was especially good considering it's your first published piece. Laurana's character is very endearing. XD I love how her personality subtly changes whenever she turns into a boy. (Gah, but I just don't like the sound of Lennie). I thought her getting excited about Princess Fernypoo was a nice touch. All in all, a well-written and well-paced story. (Btw, Markie's character was so smug in the end. XD I symphatize with Laurana. )

Thanks for the reviews you guys. x3 I don't have a lot of time so I gotta make this quick.. Yeah.. I realized that a little late. Let's just say I was aiming at the spelling (sun, fun) mmkay? :3 You know, I used to get the 'your hands turn blue for a second etc.' at Coltzan's Shrine almost every day. It always drove me crazy too. I mean, what exactly would cause the temporary (or permanent I suppose) blue-handed-ness? PSH to all the non-believers in second person! To tell you the truth I didn't realize it was second person until I was about two paragraphs in. I always did like second person though so I just went with it. Glad you liked it. ^^ I don't really like the ending myself. I kept it in to kind of show a point: Everything keeps going wrong for you and your pet, so maybe at the end there's a big event that makes everything all a-okay or maybe there's a big finale of horribleness that takes the cake on the worst day ever. Or at least some witty remark that sums it all up and makes you feel a little better. BUT NO. This is how it ends, anti-climatic and lame. Kinda like life. Hm.. The non-existent secret of a non-existent land made of jelly (that does not exist) is going on there on a Monday? It's worth a try. :3 Now that you mention it... xD I did think of Garfield at first, though that part about the Gruslen and Puppyblew were mainly from my own unfortunate experience. (Just replace them with cat and dog respectively. x3) I'll do my reviews a little later. :3

Just the Gruslen (tiger-print & Cat-like) And Puppyblew (dog-like) also reminded me of Garfield & Odie. ^^' Awww, my families cat used to "share" my pillow.

*waves* Don't forget my story--Peas and Carrots: A Soupy Situation. ^^ (I was on a cruise when the issue came out, which is why I didn't come here sooner.)
Any reviews are appreciated!

Peas and Carrots: a Soupy Situationby costa_rican_girl *snicker* This gave me the oddest mental image of Al the Chia for some reason. I am completely in love with Zebie, by the way. Nice use of the baby Pteri. You’d think they’d be the one thing immune to the pea soup… Not that they could tell anyone about it.

Peas and Carrots: a Soupy Situation by costa_rican_girl That was a wonderful and hilarious little story.
Char's jealousy of Oscar and Rain was very well-done and I could relate to him well given your skillful writing (...and my own personal experiences); the conclusions, in which he got over that jealousy, was wonderful and gave this rather comedic story a touch of literary quality, and I enjoyed that.
The fact that Phloosh was subdued by a teenager's sharp tongue was very fitting. Not many people (aside from other teenagers with even sharper tongues...or their parents) can stand up to such. I applaud the pea just for surviving it. His attempt to reenact "Little Red Riding Hood" was simply genius, and I enjoyed Sophie's coming out of the closet and demanding her clothes back.
The entire scene with the baby Pteri was just amazing. Mind the pun, but it cracked me up.

Gaah, I fail this week. Reviews are coming, guys. ><; Just... not today. *burned out from finishing last week's reviews* And thank you all so much for the reviews. :3 This must be the biggest response I’ve ever gotten for something published, even if it is a comic. Seems like it’s not just random Neopians who get interested in the NT because of events like Faerie Wars. The Happiest Quiggle by nut862. Roffle! XD I really enjoyed reading this. I like all their expressions. I was just a little bit caught off guard that Jodi was so pale. Thanks, Belle. ^_^ Hehe, expressions are the most fun part. As for Jodi, I was basing her off of PFA’s drawing. I guess she… stays underground a lot and doesn’t get much sun? The Happiest QuiggleThe expressions are priceless x3 Each Faerie's personality comes across so very well, and note that I haven't checked the plot thread yet, so I have very little idea about the backstory you all worked from. I couldn't really understand what exactly Illusen did in the 6th panel, but it makes no big difference in understanding the comic itself. And the 4th and 5th panel can be a bit confusing, as both Faeries look the same way and nothing really suggests that they're facing each other. But the joke was great, and it was an awesome comic overall ^^ Thank you for the detailed review, Hunty. =3 Sixth panel, yes… she zapped them with a mega blast of magical pwnfulness which apparently froze them in place for a few seconds. *nod* Sorry that was unclear. Ohh, good point about the fourth and fifth panels. Those two were originally in different places on the comic and I shifted them around so they were next to each other. I actually intended Blaze to be looking at Illusen, but her head is turned the wrong way and because her pupil is so big, you can’t tell. x.x; Thanks for pointing it out. I’m glad you liked the comic. ^^ The Happiest Quiggle by nut862I love expressions on the faeries' faces in the last panel There are so many really well drawn comics this week! Thanks for the review. ^^ The Happiest Quiggle by nut862~ Beautiful art, awesome joke (poor Illusen -_-'), and the expressions were masterful. I didn't like one thing: Nooooo! That poor, poor pie got esploded! ;_; (jk ) Aw, thanks. ^^ Hehe, yes… pies always seem to suffer. D= Like in Carnival of Terror. (Actually, the main reason was because I hadn’t drawn the pie into the rest of the comics of this mini-series and I needed a convenient explanation for it… >.>) The Happiest Quiggle The art was, as always, terrific. You did a great job on the faces and hands (the latter of which invariably nails me when I try to draw). The Faeries' postures were also good; body language adds a lot to a comic. While the joke, as most comics do, lacked the 'kaboom!' unexpected punch line I like to see, I still enjoyed it, and hope to see more mayhem develop from this start, if possible. *Grins* Y'know, you'd think it would occur to Nychta that zapping Illusen's pie wouldn't be the best way to get her to join the Dark Faeries, though. *Pictures Illusen pasting Nychta over the head with the empty pie plate* Thanks for the lengthy review! ^^ I’m glad you like the art. Hehe, I sat myself down with a pen one day and stared at my hand until I learned how to draw it. Never had a problem drawing cartoon hands since then. That day was worth it. *nod* And I’m very amused at the idea of Illusen decking Nychta with the pie pan. XD If the magical glowy super zap fails… *meaningful look* The Happiest Quiggle by nut862I don't know if I'll be able to stop laughing long enough to reply to this one! Seriously, that was just amazing, I really loved it, the joke, the end of it, all of it. The art, too, was simply superb, and I really loved it. Great job! I’m really glad you liked it so much. ^_^ Thanks for the review, Wolf! The Happiest Quiggle by nut862 Just in terms of informing people of the plot this comic was very helpful. It explained how the more major faeries are staying out of everything. And it was funny too! I also liked the way there were cookies on the pan. Thanks for the review, Kitty. ^^ Yeah, I’d hoped to clear up that issue a bit. Also, it fit in nicely with my mini-plot. >> The Happiest Quiggleby nut862 The Fire Faerie’s not too bright is she. If Illusen was on a ‘side’, she’d be on Earth, since she’s an Earth Faerie… Heh, of all times for a plan to backfire. I vote Sarah’s pie pan suggestion as Plan B. The Happiest Quiggleby nut862 First off, I LOVE your Jodi! She is exactly the way she should be. Thanks for addressing Illusen's role; I wondered about her. The joke in the last panel is great; "I'm moving to the haunted woods." I laughed. I’m glad you like Jodi. ^^ Ooh, and thank you for catching that last line; I was hoping someone would like it. ^_^ The Happiest Quiggle - NutGo Illusen! I SUPPORT ILLUSEN - *brick'd* I figured this would happen. XD Yay, another Illusen fan! XD …Why do most Illusen fans seem to also be Meridell fans? >> The Happiest Quiggle by nut862Awww... Poor Illusen! XD Good artwork, Nut! Thanks, Birdy.

Articles[glow=blue,2,300] A Million Little Unis[/glow] I’m not really in favor of GUP, so I was a little nervous when I started reading this. However, the introduction got me interested, and I found the interviews quite entertaining. I really appreciate how for most of the article you managed to take the standpoint of an observer despite having an opinion, thus avoiding showing much bias (which is mainly what I’d been nervous about when I started reading). And I am glad you stated your standpoint at the end, since one of the most interesting parts about any controversial discussion is seeing other people’s views. Your choice of interviewees was interesting; I certainly didn’t expect to be reading about a sock or Sloth. That added a touch of humor to what could’ve been a straight serious article, though it also took away a bit of the realism that would’ve come from using quotes from real users; still, the latter could’ve been a little dangerous given how controversial the subject is, and I have nothing against lightening the mood. You captured a couple of the general arguments well enough, anyway. I found it an interesting article, probably quite a useful overview to someone who hadn’t been following the GUP hype, and it was nice to see an article about it get published in the NT. ^^ [glow=blue,2,300] Faerie Wars: Tactics[/glow] I really like the image you got for this. I know it’s not a custom, but the Dark Faerie looks so… shiny (and a little like Nychta, too). ^^ Your line about living in a closet for the past few days is just evil. It was nice that you gave a rundown of the story in the beginning. The article on a whole is just full of imaginative information. It’s interesting to read about how the camps differ and their strengths and weaknesses (the battle plan sections were my favorites to read). This is a fabulous reference point and inspiration, really—if only it were a real plot. Ah well. Your lighthearted tone shows through even in this article of facts, playing on the faeries’ personalities. All in all an interesting article, though it really makes a perfect prank when you’ve read Kitty’s article too. xD [glow=blue,2,300] Faerie Wars: Which Side to Choose?[/glow] I like how this article concentrates on the faerie’s personalities, giving character rundowns of each of them. I like how you listed reasons to join each of them… give people something to think about. Nychta’s description seemed kind of short compared to the others, though. I love how consistent this is with Belle’s article… the two of them together make a real double-whammy. This article is great for giving information about the plot. And the last line is just… perfect. XD [glow=blue,2,300] The Dirt on the Earth Faeries[/glow] I found this a really entertaining article. x3 You make a bunch of good points for why Earth Faerie quests should be cut, and I love the sarcastic tone of the writing. I love how you say you’re not a propaganda theorist, as well as all related denials. And it’s nice to see an article focusing on one aspect of the Faerie Wars rather than covering the whole story; this seems very much like something someone would send in right at the beginning of a new plot. *chokes* XD *chokes again* XDD I love how you draw the connection between “Earth Faerie Oven” and “fire hazard”… that was great. XD I always thought those leaves were just plastic backing that looked like leaves… >.> The part at the end with Storm bursting in was unexpected and funny, and the part about not being paid to write for her was great. All in all, an enjoyable conspiracy article. XD
