and articles like this are simply another silver platter.

My feeling on the subject was that somebody was going to write an article or a story on it anyways, so the author might as well be me. At least this way I could try and assure that the article would be fair to both sides.
And I might as well say it before anyone else: this article has gleaned me a lot of attention from people around the site and I'm enjoying my 15 minutes of fame. Put me on the list of snot-nosed brats, it feels good to be noticed.

This article really didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know, so as an informative article I don’t really have much to say about it.

As an article about current events, it may seem superfluous to NTWFers who know what's going on. But in the future the petpages these people have will probably be gone, I'd like to think this article will act as a good reference point when somebody has to explain GUP to a new Neopets user.

Reasie-

a lot of anti-GUPpers grind their teeth in frustration. Having Captain Evil Dr. Sloth represent the anti-GUPpers might also have been an insulting choice to those that feel strongly on the issue.

I agree that the context given for Sloth may be found offensive, but I've heard nothing on the topic in the many neomails I've received, and I'm told the ones who feel strongly are often very vocal about their beliefs.

I believe lowering the number of pets in the pound, and thrilling the socks off of whatever random person adopts the painted pets, is a perfectly acceptable form of charitable entertainment that shouldn't be mocked by lumping people in with the laughingstock of Neopia.

For the record, that was never a subtext I wrote into this article. I used Sloth because he was available, and because I needed a humourous counterpart to the Sock Puppet. I could have just as well done Jhudora, Fyora, Adee the Chia, or anyone else, but Sloth was available for interview and he provided the best string of jokes.
Besides which, I made my feelings very clear at the end of the article, so the only bias is that which people bring into it.

So anyway, bottom line: while I don't think any reasonable person minds you stating an opinion, especially if that opinion is delivered with the wit and humour that you displayed, next time you write an article involving real people, I would appreciate it if you could do it with a little more respect.

In my honest opinion, any debate where people spend hours spamming each others inboxes with insults over a few kilobytes of data, respect isn't a prime concern. But thank you for implying an accusation that I disrespected somebody. I'm sorry you felt that way.

This was an incredibly well-written, informative, and enjoyable article, and I applaud you for it. You skillfully presented both sides of the issue in a manner that I find both humorous and fitting, but more importantly one that seems safe from flames of either side (excluding those from over-zealous advocates).

I haven't actually heard anything from the official representatives of either side, much as I had hoped. No flames, nothing.

The only bit that I thought didn't feel right was when you're interviewing Mr Sock and you say "The article has already explained..." That just didn't feel right because you interview someone to get materiel for an article, you don't write the article and then stop halfway to go and find someone to interview - if you do that you might find half of what you're written is wrong!

That joke always felt a little awkward, but I guess it's kind of hit and miss. You're absolutely right about getting materials for articles, but Neopets likes to operate under rules that are a little different, I hope it didn't bother you too much.

Well, first of all, great job changing something which draws so heavily on human elements of Neopets (transfering, the Neoboards, etc.) into something that was enough about the game to write an article about =3 I especially like the way GUP has been turned into a "band of fearless rebels travelling the roadways of our fair planet in support of a cause beyond any Neopia has seen before it," because it's pretty much true.

Kingdom-wide summons? I was like, "Gee, why is he ordering one of those? I should read this story and find out!" So... I guess it made a good hook =P

KASSERS AHAHAHAHA kayimdone. Why don't they listen to Danner? That's so sad =(

Dun, dun, DUN. I imagine someone who'd never read the archives of the old plots would probaby keep reading wondering what was up with this 'monster' they kept hearing about.

"Oh, and despite what Jeran claims, I do not scream like a girl. " SURE you don't, Danner, sure you don't.

All in all, that was a really fun read, with lots of action to keep the story interesting and lots of humor to keep it that way even when they're sleeping or another otherwise boring thing like that.

Wow, another secret diary! Two in the same day, what a lucky hamster I am!

Woo, yay, lab ray story! I always like those because there are so many things you can do with them - zoom in on the pet's feelings about whatever change they've undergone, use it as a clever plot device or just create a wacky humorous story. The pet seeming so excited about getting it helped get me interested in the story, maybe because in a lot of lab ray stories (or maybe just the ones I've read) the pet is all mopey and 'No, I'm too young to be zapped!' and such.

"Maybe this was a bad idea. I guess now we HAVE to keep using the lab ray. “Pwnd by the lab ray,” indeed." Oh... heheh.. that wore off pretty quick, didn't it =P

Heehee. I always find those royal pets that are the wrong color kinda funny. I don't know why, it's kinda mean of me, but still...

Aww, all of that and then her brother gets a rare color handed to him on a silver platter? I'd very much like to read that letter X3

Thanks for the review. And just about your review of Belle's article. I got many a neomail saying "Maybe I'm living in a closet but I haven't heard of this faerie wars plot." I laughed about the way they all worded it the same way.

The beginning of this article, as well as the order in which the Faeries were named, was almost identical to that of the proceeding one. Both had their unique points, though, which was great, yet, for me, they seemed too similar to suspend my disbelief if I were merely a casual reader reading them both. I know this likely wasn't intentional, but for all the parties involved, it could have been watched for better, I feel.

Disregarding that, as an introduction of that sort truly was necessary for this, you gave completely different facts about the Faeries in this article than were given in the above. That difference adds to the believability of this, and it was awesomely done. My one complaint here is that you only mentioned the quest rewards for a few Faeries, when I felt it should have been said for all of them.

Nevertheless, this article's upbeat and excited tone that would get anyone in the mood to choose a camp!

Thanks for the review, Wolf. I think the main reason for the similarities is that this idea was thought of by multiple people and the order I put the faeries was not the order they were listed on the thread, but instead the order they were listed on the faerie quest page. I think to some extent, the similarities were good because they convinced people that we defenently learned about this from the same source, but when it gets too far, you're right it isn't really good. But the order was just a coincidence.

And the article felt repetitive if I put it into the same format every paragraph, but more rewards could have been done.

And don't I know people wanted to sign up. XDD I got 382 neomails (and they're still coming) with completely fooled people wanting a link.

Heh, I was wondering is the subtle, multiple ways to interpret thing would work ok... I originally intended to have it clearer to have the Koi reacting to the flowers, but then I thought it didn't seem Faerie Wars enough, so I tried making it seem a little more like he was delivering a message of an actual invasion. I'll try to be more decisive and clear next time...

Ah yes, must work on my speech bubbling too, I guess I've been too focused on improving on my backgrounds lately that I forgot to work on that too this time. ^-^;;

I see. I apologize if I overreacted; as is probably fairly clear by now, the Sloth thing looked like subtext, and your posts on the GUP thread kind of sent my mind leaning in that direction the moment I saw Sloth's name. I appreciate the fact that you hadn't actually meant it the way I perceived it.

And the remark about living in a closet these past few days just helped to imply that it was about a plot (I love the way all you guys did that without being obvious about it!) The Negg Faerie lost her grip on the door and fell through the doorway faster than an asparagus Chia fleeing a hungry Adam.

Suddenly, Hannah the Brave ran by screaming, a ferocious snowbeast chasing close behind her.

Lorissa shrieked and dived into the straw. “Augh! What was that thing?! It was hideous!”

“Wow, that’s the biggest snowbeast I’ve ever seen,” said Wisp, looking off in the direction it had run.

From under the straw, Lorissa said, “There was a snowbeast, too?”
