Violence that's OK: "I poked Rider with knife, and she shaved off my eyebrows...so I godmoded her left arm off, and hit her with it" Voilence that goes over the line: "I stabbed Rider in the eye with a knife, it popped out and rolled all over the floor. She grabbed a machette and shaved off my eyebrows, and took a bit of skin with them....I was feeling so dizzy from all of the blood loss that I fell into her, knocked her into a tablesaw...and it sliced her left arm clean off! She grabbed her own arm and punched me in the face with it. D=" ....what I'm trying to say is...descriptive, gory, gross, and just overall * * stuff is what we don't want to see. EDIT: I took so long coming up with examples, that two people beat me to it XDXD

Hunty, think of it this way: saying *despleen* is simply. Describing how you do despleen someone... ...That's why we say graphic depictions of violence. It's the difference between a bugs bunny cartoon and Hellsing... True. But there's a thin line, basically the line between *despleens* and *despleens through the throat* or something, as I understand it. *nod* Which still means using common sense. Got it. EDIT: dagnabbit, you guys are fast o.o But, yeah. In that case the violence thing hasn't been that much of an issue anyway. As for the announcement, it'd be a bit strange to show it to non-bloiders who don't care a thing about what's going on here, but guess it's the best choice, yus.

Have you guys ever considered what a funny word 'bloids is? I mean I know it's just shortened, but really, there's two consonants and then two vowels! ... Were there always this many mods and minis?! OMG upgrades, congrats everyone! ... err, I mean, BLOIDS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS! EVERYONE BEHAVE! ... *Backs slowly out of this thread*

Hrm, well, I do agree that something should be done about the excessive ... Bloidness or the Tabloids. I mean the QMs and the innuendo and blood and gore ...
... Is what makes up the Bloids. I'm sure most people visit the Bloids so they can unwind after a hard day at work or at school or whetever. Plopping down even more rules might make some people see Bloiding as a ... chore. I'm sure some already feel like tip-toeing around glass when they talk on the Bloids at the moment so they don't put a toe out of line and hurt themselves (and get blood on the carpet) and that's far from the fun that the Bloids personify.
But the line's still there even if no one mentions it. It's just the line stretches different lengths for different people. For example, the Organization III don't mind a good amount of blood and gore that'd make even someone my age squirm and they think nothing about it because it's good clean fun. Leoness and Strife may have their affectionate moments more often than some people would like that that's because they're just being playful. And some others find using QMs to be hillarious and think nothing about what the real "meaning" would be because all they know is QMs = *headdesk/groan moment*
And while I'd be seriously embarassed to let my sister (or parents for that matter) visit the Bloids that's what the little warning before you click on Tabloid Town in for. I'm all for making that warning message more ... clear and, well, foreboding. Sure kids can be curious but I for one certainly can't complain when I peek and go x__x when I see something that'd make my brain asplode.
Simply, all I'm saying is that excessive censorship is not the way to go. Just ... well ... common sense. Like Mowfy said, don't post anything you wouldn't say to your own family members, though that's a rather loose rule of the thumb. After all, PG-13 for someone might be R for someone else. For some, 'closet' is simply the action of, well, dragging someone into a closet for a private moment, which is up to the reader's interpretation, innocent or otherwise. Heck, the closetees might be having a candlelight dinner in there for all we know. Just don't go overboard with details, like the others said, and use it too often.
And for goodness sakes, subtlety gets you to the point regardless even if it takes longer. I mean, there's so many ways to call Rider ... a person who looks up to Edward Elric so why not apply it to the Bloids?
And I know NSQ was being silly but I say Tabloid Town is not about being serious. It's about being NSQ aka silly, a place where we can sit back and chat about whatever one would chat among good friends over a cup of tea (or rum) and ginger biscuits (or doggy snacks). Everything else can be shared in the form of PM or IM correspondence.
As for Tabloid relationships, well, some people like fooling around and some people like being with one person. Some like big, crazy families while others like sensible, small families. Expect fireworks when two different viewpoints meet but I always keep in mind everything's in jest. Like I for example will always be with Aerisa but that doesn't mean I should get upset if hussy Rider starts hitting on me. If anything I'd find it funny to see her futile attempts, har, har (No offense Rider, you're still loved xD)
And that's my two cents, which isn't really worth a lot considering exchange rates ^_^;

Plopping down even more rules might make some people see Bloiding as a ... chore. [shadow=purple,left,300]Aye, true, that. We don't want to take the fun out of the tabloids, but there are limits as to what kind of fun. But still, we have to wipe away that notion that in order to be noticed or liked on the tabloids you would have to be extremely QM-happy, or gory, or perverted, or have a big family or become polygamous or incestuous, because some new members may think that that's the only way to play the tabloid game. In fact, sometimes it does seem like it. If you don't want to be perverted, then don't. So long as you can take whatever the tabloids throws at you you're welcome. You don't have to throw 'em back the way they came if you don't want to. XD The tabloids are much more than that. That's why it's a random chat thread a.k.a. the old tabloids + the Insanity Board of old times. [/shadow]

Its not over-censorship... Its not a chore...
Its being responsible. The NTWF is a family board. The tabloids are just a thread on said board. There should be no more violence or risque buisness on the tabloids than in say...Neopets General. =P
Just because the tabloids is a free board where you may randomly discuss any topic you'd like, that doesn't mean you can get away with stuff you wouldn't get away with on other boards.
We have let the bar slip. Its sunk into the mud below.... We just need to pull that bar out and wipe it off... and everything will be good as new.

It doesn't take too much to do it. I mean, I've had some really dodgy conversations with NTWFers in private chat rooms... but I like to be at least a bit more responsible on the forum itself... you never know who could be reading it.
