I don't mind someone slipping in the odd cuss word now and then but when someone starts swearing non-stop ... it just starts to grate on my nerves. I say "darn it!" and "cr-p!" but I rarely ever use "f---" or "s---". But I have never, ever let the word cu- erm ... you know the rest, pass my lips. I don't spell it, I don't type it, I don't say it, I don't write it. It's at the top of my "Never-Do" list.
If I drop something on my toe, or walk into a door (you'd be surprised at how much I do that!) I usually say "F- aargh ... fudge" or "Fruit tingles!". I prefer saying nonsense words instead of cussing. It sounds better (to me) and doesn't seem as coarse (to me). Like I shouted "Eepits, Meepits and Feepits!" once when I was setting out the camp bed for my friend and it spang out on my toes. Perfect total-foot crush.
But I tend to lay off swearing.

I can put up with it most of the time, but when I'm in a really good mood or a really bad mood I will actually hiss at people if the swear. And when I get angry, I use minor swear words, like dahn it, and of course, my favorite... Flippin'. Then there are those random things like 'Holy sea-monkeys, batman!' and random nonsense like that.

Well, I don't swear a lot and I usually try not to. Those swear words are kept out of my conversations with people. Sure, I do say some like, "stinks", "idiot" and "sh--". They're common words, aren't they? XD
Whenever my friends swear or cuss, I look at them and clear my throat to tell them/signal that I feel uncomfortable with that word. Then they'll just stop.
It's always good to tell your friends how you feel about them swearing and cussing or at least make a signal to them that you're uncomfortable. That helps.

They're common words, aren't they? XD I didn't realize that "idiot" and "stinks" were considered swear words. Anyways, I hate it when people who don't seem like they'd swear at all say a really bad word, and then I say, "Did you just say the f-word?" And then people look at me funny for not just saying the word itself. Sheesh.

I do not swear at all. When people that I know do, however, I correct them with some subsitute word. Like "darn" or something along those lines.
Lucky for me, most of my friend's do not swear.
The only times I will not correct someone is if I do not know them well, or the language doesn't bother me. Somethings I can deal with, others- I refuse to.
Most of the kids at my school swear...it is really sad because most of them swear every other word or so.

I hate this girl in my class because she always calls people ... f---ing moles. Here's a snatch of song I heard her sing: Carlton are the worst team in the world They're really s---ty. Carlton f---ing beat Richmond - how s---ty is that? It's true. For you people who don't live Down Under, carlton and Richmond are football teams

"Where is this coming from?" Everyone asks. Well, it's because I'm a little torn up here. I don't swear (no certain 4 letter words the censor would squish, but the little ones that found their way into PG material sometimes). I'm 14. But yes, my friends do. My dad was working on getting MSN (actually Gaim, I'm stuck in linux thanks to the LSASS worm infecting windows) and he did. Only Gaim has this buddy ticker thing that scrolls across your buddys aliases. Well, like I said, my friends don't use the politest language. So my dad saw it and is pretty mad at me, and I also think he's getting the wrong idea about my friends. They're good people, but umm... cold and clear as crystal. We rant a lot. So now, my dad wants me to either talk to my friends about their harsh language (but hey, we're 14-15 now!) or block them. This girl is like one of my best friends. Sure, she's not the most polite to people, but she wont swear directly to you. It's usually F--- society. Never F--- you. (That's another girl that get's more than a little cranky past midnight. Even then, the you isn't anyone in particular.) So what should I do? I'm not blocking my best friends (I'm sure almost all of them have sworn once in their nicknames) and I can see our conversation. "Hey, umm... I was wondering if you could tone down the swearing in your nick." "What's up? You never used to care..." "Uhh... see... about that. My dad was watching over my shoulder and saw it... yeah... hehehe..." ... I don't know how she could take it. So... swearing a big deal around here for anyone? Sorry for skipping all the pages, but I wanted my 2 cents in. I am VERY against it. I have deep personal reasons and I vow I will never swear in front of anyone who knows me - my future wife, children, friends, not even in my mind. I have seen how degrading it has been and it's affected my head-on. I think cursing does show a limited vocabularly, like Patjade said - the only adultness I'd see is a pathetic attempt to be "manly". Now, I realize people will bark out harsh words when angry or hurt - but to me, crap is the worst I'll go (with the possible exception of freakin' - depends how you see it). It's called "cursing" for a reason. It's degrading, unkind, and overall hurtful. Ok, 2 cents in. ;D

I don't swear. Even though it is kind of hard for me since all I hear at school are "f-words"... I do in my head at times, though. But never really out loud. I can think before I say anything. And if I start to say something, I just change it so shwaralisjdfsdf or something like that. XD Not very many of my friends swear, either, so that is good. But basically at my school, everybody swears. And majority of what they say when they swear is the "f-word", too, which is scary because that was in 7th grade and everybody was 12 or 13... But no, I don't swear, I do say crap, though, but I really don't consider that a cuss word.

I think it is rude, expecialy when your using it against someone. Now, in my school, some people believe (ok this is completely crazy) "shut up" iis a bad word, but it is a rude manner of telling someone to be quiet, meanwhile f--- is extremely bad and should not be used in our society. People may use it in their own homes, but it is not a good idea to use swear words in a home with young children. Anyway, I don't like swearing, I don't do it myself, and I hope to never in the future.

My whole family swears, so I suppose I just picked it up. However, I try my very, very best not to swear in front of someone until I'm sure they don't mind. Come to think of it, I really don't swear that much unless I'm angry, stressed, surprised, etc. If you don't like swearing, you do NOT want to be around me while I'm playing video games. XD
Me: WHAT THE @#$!? YOU @#$!?IN' LITTLE @#$!? I'M GONNA @#$!?IN' KILL YOU AARGGH!! *starts chomping on the controller*
But at least I'm in my room while I'm doing so. XD
But if someone swears, I don't mind, as long as it's not just.. consistantly, without it being a joke or something. Like...:
So I was like, walkin' down the @#$!?in' street one @#$!?in' day and I saw a @#$!?in' lady walking her @#$!?in' dog and I was like "That @#$!?in' dog is so @#$!?in' cute!" and she was like "Do you kiss your @#$!?in' mother with that @#$!?in' mouth!?" and I was like "You're such a @#$!?in' @#$!? @#$!?$!$@^%!%!!!!" and she was like "What the @#$!?" The @#$!?in' end.
Then it's just annoying. XD
*hasn't had sleep* ^_^
