I think D&D 3.5 is pretty complex and most of us, myself included, are beginners. Maybe Scar could host another D&D using 3.5 another time, but for those of us who want something simple, it seems the two I mentioned are popular? I have the DA RPG player's guide as a PDF and so does Scar, so one of us could upload it to a sharing website. It'd be just like sharing a book. Edit: It's already there! If people could skim and then post whether they'd prefer DA or SW. If you say SW, post a vague idea of a setting you'd like to RP in and I can put the setting ideas into a poll. Sound good?

Mhmm. :3 Which is why I'm like 'I'd totally love to play D&D 3.5 but that's because I know the rules. And most people don't. So we likely won't.' And now I know we won't! =D And I don't really mind at all. xD Anyway.
...I totally end up with an opinion of 'Whatever; Savage Worlds and Dragon Age both sound fun'.
If we play Savage Worlds, I want to play in a setting where I can play a holy-warrior-type character. =D Which could be any number of things, but. xD Medieval fantasy, standard D&D-type setting, is a base from which I'd be willing to play pretty much any variation.
Edit: If Sarndear wants an actual opinion, I'll go with DA so that Scar doesn't need to do as much prep work. :3

DA or SW? That I can swing. ^^ I've always been intrigued by SW, but I'll be willing to play either one. I'll just need to read through the stuff.
As for characters, I'll decide that later; it's not too hard for me to figure out a character with the D&D system and I'll roleplay almost anything. I'm used to the standard setting, though, but I'm flexible.

I don't mind what setting we use too much, although right now my head is full of Genius enough that any of my characters are probably going to think like one. Yes, even in a fantasy setting. xD Although I'd have to spend more time looking at the rules for whichever we choose.
...Just checking: the Savage Worlds rules are the Test Drive Rules, right? Because if there's something else I need to read (it looks like those rules don't cover character creation), I'd appreciate having a chance to look at it. xD

Because if there's something else I need to read (it looks like those rules don't cover character creation), I'd appreciate having a chance to look at it. xD Yup, you're right, it's the Test Drive rules which are basically the very basic rules you need to run the game. It's a little confusing because the information is all over the place but character creation is under the Characters chapter. In short it's: 1. Pick a race. There are no rules for this since it's specific for every setting. I'll have to make up my own set if we choose this. 2. Distribute 5 points among your attributes. All start at d4 and you get 5 points to distribute among them, each point increasing the stat to the next die. Eg. I can spend two points to increase Agility to d8 (d4 > d6 > d8) 3. Distribute 15 points among your skills. You spend 1 point to 'buy' the skill and then another 1 point onwards to upgrade the skill the same way you upgrade attributes. There is a catch: if you try to upgrade a skill over the associated die type of the attribute it costs 2 points instead. For example: My Agility is d4. I buy the Boating skill, which is categorized as an Agility skill, for 1 point. That gives me a d4 is Boating but I decide it ain't enough so I spend 2 more points to raise it to d6, the next die step. Note how I spent 2 points instead of 1. If my Agility were d6 though it would only cost 1 point to upgrade my Boating skill from d4 to d6. (Sorry if it's confusing, it's easier on paper ^^; ) 4. Choose edges and hindrances. Basically you can select hindrances (bad traits that give you penalties) in order to give you points to select edges (good traits that give you bonuses). You can select up to two minor hindrances or one major hindrance for two advances. With those two advances you can: For 2 advances you can either: • Gain another attribute point. • Choose an Edge. For 1 advance you can either: • Gain another skill point. • Increase starting funds by 100%. 5. You start off with $500 by default and thus you need to buy adventuring gear. Yeah, depending on the setting the value is subject to change ... as is the currency. There are no US Dollars in medieval times xD 6. Character background that you feel like filling in. It's up to you :3 Charisma, Pace, Parry and Toughness are derived stats that are tied to skills, perks or attributes so you just need to number crunch to get them, no choices necessary ^^ Hope that helps as a summary to character creation ^^; Feel free to ask more questions about it any time. I want to join in, but I am not sure what I am /actually/ supposed to read through? xD Just the site Sarn shared? Well as of now there are two choices: the one Sarn shared (Dragon Age RPG) and the Savage Worlds Test Drive rules. You can browse through either one and decide what's the best for you ^_^

I think I'm leaning towards DA more. I thought SW was more organized than it actually is, so yah. Can people please make it plain in their posts what one they're going for? I'm no mind reader, sooo ... xD; Also if we do play SW, it'll take Scar ages to come up with the setting, races etc, and I'm keen to get this going before this new year we've settled into runs out. xDDDD

Wait, this will be an actual game? If so then I'm all in! *Has no idea what this is but usually learns games very quickly, not to mention loves the idea of RPing with NTWFers*

*looks at the Savage World rules again* ...Oh my I can't read. Or I was tired. And again, I don't mind which rules we use (I kind of just want to play xD), but Sarn's reasoning for using DA makes sense, so I'll go ahead and go with that. (Unless Scar has his own setting all ready to go that he wants to use?)

I think both Savage Worlds and Dragon Age sound fun, but Sarn makes a good point when she mentions the additional time it would take to create a setting for SW. XD So maybe DA would be the better choice.
If we do go with SW, though, I'd like either a medieval fantasy or a science fiction sort of setting. (Which are sort of the opposite of each other... XD)

Honestly, once you've gotten everythig set out it runs really quickly. It's only because we've got such a large group and I'm trying to organize everyone at once. Seriously, I'm not good with this sorta thing and I can play it no trouble. ^_^
