Same here! Shidi invited me back in early days of the Forum and I thought "Wow! Here I am among all these FAMOUS people! And I am a nothing, really! Why was I invited?" *nods* I remember being all excited and almost fainting when I got a neomail from the High Priestess of the Neopian Times. At that point, I think the first part of my second series had been published. When I came here, it was a little frightening because of all these people--famous people--but I was accepted, and no one was ever condescending or arrogant to me. |

It's wonderful because everyone is intelligent but warm. You can tell everyone your opinons and know they'll listen. And knowledge is greater when shared - I've learnt a lot. People here aren't snobby or above themselves - which seems to be a common mentality in Neopets. Reality escape is also good. *nods*

I was really honoured when Shidi invited me to the forum. I was thinking "Whoa! Shidi, the High Priestess of the NT has invited ME to join a forum full of other writers." I was excited, I had no idea that just submitting a few silly stories I wrote while I was bored at work to the NT would result in so much feedback. And the fellowship that grew out of the forum is amazing. I met so many great people around here, so many enormously talented people and people I really respect for their contributions and their talent. Especially lately since I went through a period of depression, I got frustrated and all the negative things I was reading (I'm not saying there was a lot, but there were a few) were influencing me in a really bad way. It wasn't even all here, it was just in general. Several people from the forum helped me feel better, I was a bit surprised, but I am really glad for the oppourtunity to meet you all. Okay, I'll shut up now  |

Unlike most of you, I joined because of a banner in Peachifruit's userlookup. I wasn't invited. Blah!
Oh well. The point is, I feel like I've made some friends here whom I can trust (though I haven't known them for a long as my offline friends.) There are also people here (like Shidi, Patjade, Oddhatter, etc.) that I can look up to.

I found my way here via the NTMI. But, I've still made lots of spiffy friends and such here, and having gotten to know all of the authors of the NT for something more than just their works is a very spiffy thing. So I like it here. |

Brains. I like eating brains... In reality I like it here because everyone has a brain. It's not like thsoe other foruma where every other post is " MY LIF IZ S00 B4D MY M0M WUNDLT L3T M3 BUY MY 400 JEENZ!!!! SHE IZ S000 M33N!!!!!!!!". Everyone here has common corutsey and a brain, and it's hard to find a forum that has all that... I really like this forum alot. People use actual intelligence (not to say people in other forums don't. People here just use more). I'm still new, so I haven't yet found my niche and gotten to know people that well yet... well except for the insanity board. I melted right into that.
Anyways. Hope to get to know everyone better. I'm still having trouble with who is male and who is female... ^_^; Sometimes you can't tell by the name and picture, and I have to look it up real fast.

When I got promoted to Moderator, I've made it a point to invite all the new writers and comic artists from the NT. That was around Issue 76. Now, several of the Mods and some of the others share in that effort with me. I want to make sure that every new person in the NT gets a chance to feel welcomed to the Forum. And if they turn it down? (and a few have) Then that's fine, as well. This place shouldn't get ito the habit of gang-pressing new people into joining, rather to give them a chance with open arms and a friendly wave. |
