The NTWF Christmas Card Swap 2022 (signups closed!)

Me last week on a sunny and warm Italian island sipping spritz cocktails, being all "sure would be a shame if anyone reminded me to look in the calendar right now."

(This particular image was drawn on a very delayed flight home, at midnight, while trying to explain the life cycle of a frog to my sonnyboy. This is why I've never found expressions difficult.)

Last year I solemnly swore to get this thing on the road somewhat earlier, since the eternal paradox of the Card Swap is that no matter how early we start it, the cards still make it to their destinations well into January. And since I've already been prodded about it, and Halloween has now cleared the way, and I'm somewhat honor-bound to use up the rest of my last year's new custom stamps which I'm by the way very proud of, this feels like an excellent time to ring in

the 5th So-Far-Annual NTWF Christmas Card Swap!

If you've done this before then you know the drill and welcome back =D If you haven't done this before, now's the chance to jump in. The primary caveat is that you need to be an established member of the NTWF but, uh, I'm not sure if we have non-established members any more.

I've been adventuring for cards in all directions Thrift stores are amazing for getting a whole bunch of really neat ones for cheap!

And, I'll add that I love history, critters (all kinds, not just birds despite my clear bird bias hahaha), pretty nature scenes, and hearing about how you celebrate! All that good stuff. My family celebrates Christmas, but I love all kinds of cards, so by all means, send me the card you'd like! I'll start working on my international ones soon so they can hopefully make it for the Holidays~

I'm pretty sure there are still some of my cards from last year for which I never got confirmation that they arrived.

Our Christmas cards always show up in stores way late, probably in the last weeks of November or so. Clearly most people aren't familiar with the peculiarities of the Mexican postal system >> Which is why I try to keep some amount of spillover from the year before.

I should probably set an actual deadline for signing up, innit? Let's say I lock the signups on November 12 (don't ask me about timezones, I usually only function in the evenings whenever I do function) and then we can get this show on the road.

disclaimer tho, I need to take Broken Arm Child to the doctor tomorrow and Broken Bladder Cat to the doctor on Friday and it remains to be semi-seen whether my own mental health makes a bid for Broken Brain in the midst of everything, so if I flake out, someone kindly poke me with a friendly stick C:

Alrighty, since I occasionally have a sense of responsibility and since it's well past midnight and since all of the usual suspects seem to have signed up anyway, I'ma lock the signups now. Meaning I'll also do what I did last year and handle the addresses via mass PM, but I'll get on that when it becomes slightly less midnight tomorrow. If I attempted it now, I'm all but guaranteed to accidentally 'splode some buttons.

I also had some time to kill at a grocery store yesterday due to waiting on Happily-No-Longer-Broken-Cat and turns out holiday cards are in fact in already. Clearly I'm running out of reasons to not kick this off in October.
