Why, hello, NTWFers!
It's that time of year again! The time of merriment and cheer to make up for the fact that we are going to live in a winter wasteland for the next couple of months (that is, if you live in the civilized northern hemisphere, and not the wild, wild south where they have things like "kangaroos" and "llamas.") It's Christmas, it's Yuletide, it's Kwanzaa, it's near Hanukah, etc, and what better way to celebrate it in our year 2020 than to celebrate it virtually?
That's right! Instead of Warm Fuzzies, we're doing a Secret Santa of sorts. I'm sure you don't need a rundown on what a Secret Santa is, but just in case: everyone signs up, then everyone else is randomly assigned to give a "present" to one other sign-up-er. That way, everyone gives, and everyone gets. Here's the rub, though: the person you're giving it to won't know who you are until you give them their present on some specified date!
So, there you go. Now, what are these presents? Simply put, they are going to consist of two parts: 1) A drabble/sketch (or something else that's equivalent: some sort of craft, a voice recording of something they wrote, etc) and 2) Some message that will lift their spirits.
(1) is basically a small creative project that's meant to be low-stress and unintimidating, like a drabble or a sketch. You can do anything that's technically creative and amounts to the same amount of effort (and if you're not sure if it counts, just ask!) Obviously, you'll still try and make it nice, but it's not like you're painting the Mona Lisa or writing Shakespeare.
(2) consists of a few direct sentences that will make the recipient smile. This can be anything that will stick the landing, from a compliment to a reminiscence of a particular time you spent together. Think of it as a short note you'd put on a postcard in real life. It's like an expanded-scope warm fuzzy, but only for one person.
And there you have it! Below are some deadlines and the sign-up lists. Post here in the thread if you want to sign up, or don't, I'm not the boss of you.
