You’re not sure why you’re here. You don’t even remember some of the details of how you got here. You just know that you went to Gelquie’s house for trick-or-treating, shenanigans, spirits, and possibly passive-aggressive rivalries. But when you got there, you found the whole area gone, with a note in its place: Sorry, not this year. Have your own little adventure.Following this unsatisfying message are directions, just asking you to follow a group of wisps that were waiting nearby, illuminating the message along with the light of the full moon. You did so… some of the details are blurry… But then you realize you’ve come to a crop of trees just thick enough that you can’t see through to the other side. The wisps beckon you onward. You take a trail through and come out the other side to a grove surrounded by trees. Between the full moon’s light and the dancing wisps each filtering through the trees on this clear cloudless night, you couldn’t imagine a more tranquil place to be. You can stay in this grove as long as you want. The path continues, and branches off into two separate directions. There’s nothing distinguishing the two paths themselves, besides that they veer left or right. You do notice small hints, though; wisps are clustering around the entrance to the left path, and there’s vague hint of something bright. The right path, however, is dark, and the wisps seem to be avoiding it. Which way do you go? Bright Left or Dark Right?((Choose a direction; once each path’s destination has been revealed, new explorers can automatically proceed to either direction of their choice or even further ahead if it's been explored, assume the explanations in every post have been given, and decide from there. The posts will be updated with a URL link for each direction. When this gets big enough, there may be a directory here.)) Path Guide (as explored):EDIT (10/28) - ((On the note of the werewolf, said werewolf is in a specific location, so no worries about accidentally running into her! That said, if people don't get to the penultimate venue(s) before the werewolf by the 30th, but feel they have something they need to help with the werewolf, feel free to let me know, and between October 30th and November 1st, I'll find a way to fast forward you! Keep in mind, once you do this, and use your item on the werewolf, you'll likely be considered frozen in time (unless you help someone else out), and on November 2nd, I'll close this house with the conclusion with the sum of all actions, and how things turn out.))

As the most important and beautiful idol the world has ever seen, Creamy Snaw admires the left path.
"From what I remember, my adoring fans despise the darkness for some reason," Snaw muses. "And with light, there may be houses I can destroy!"
Star-shaped tambourine in hand, Snaw skips happily down the left path, singing about a mythical yellow-brick road.

downrightdude - Bright LeftYou take the bright left path, and find your travels well-lit. The trees have enough sparse overhang that the full moon’s light still fills your path. The wisps continue to follow the path, and some begin to follow you. One even alights itself on your shoulder, and if you didn’t know that wisps were nothing more than balls of light, you could swear it was pretending to be a cowboy. Filled to the brim with light and being, it feels as if someone could be around any corner. It’s easy to find your way, and you can’t help but feel like you’re surrounded by friends. That no matter where you go, you’ll be alright, so long as you follow this path. Your tranquil stroll is suddenly interrupted by a high-pitched mewing. You look around frantically, looking for any sign of struggle or danger. ”Down here!”You look down and see a black teenaged cat at your feet, who seems to have lingering shadows on its own feet. You somehow didn’t notice them earlier, but you can already tell by their proximity and fondness for snuggles that they have no qualms with personal space. “Good to see you, it’s always nice to meet more friends! I’d love to spend time just getting to know you and exploring this place with you, but I sorta have a job. But maybe we can do both, and you can help me out!” The black cat then pauses. “...Oh, introductions, I always forget introductions! I’m Umbra. I’m a Watch Cat. Well, in training. Been training for it all my life, everything I was meant for, everything everyone in my litter was meant for. Except it’s kind of a lonely job. Not so much talking with new people when you have to keep quiet and watch from the shadows. But I suppose that’s how we found out about the current problems with Luna.” Umbra lies down. “You see, Luna lives in the middle of the woods, near the watering center. And she’s all riled up. Between the blue moon, her earlier transformation this month, and on a night when we’re at our most powerful? It’s completely frazzled her. Full werewolf. Basically no control. She’s ripping up everything. She even scared me. Before I knew it I was here! I’m not even on the right side of the forest! But what I really need to do is warn the rest of the forest, but… I mean, I kind of feel bad for Luna. It’s not her fault, and she’ll feel bad afterwards if she knows she did anything wrong. I'm pretty sure things around here we can find to help her calm down, or at least lure her to a safer place, until this full moon is over!” “There are a few places we can search, if you’re up for it. I could use your help. I may not know this side of the woods super well, but I always wanted to explore here, and I bet we can figure it out!” Umbra gestures to two paths ahead. “I’m pretty sure this side of the woods is bigger than what’s beyond those, so we can always keep going if we find something. But I bet there’s some good things on this side.” “Oh, and don’t worry about losing me; I’m pretty sure I can keep up! You’ll see!” You look ahead and find that the path indeed diverges ahead. One path continues straight ahead, the other takes a long, calm loop to the left. Which way do you go to find items to calm down or lure away the werewolf? Straight Ahead, or Left Loop?

A girl with mousey blonde hair travels, trick or treating with a Guinea Pig. When they reach the grove, rather than listening to the wisps, she sets the Guinea Pig on the ground. "Okay, Taffy, which way do you suggest?"
The guinea pig boldly heads to the dark path to the right. The girl scoops up the guinea pig, and together they head down the path.

June ScarletDark RightYou both boldly brave on to the right path, into the dark, wispless wood. The trees grow dense, with only the light of the full moon and any illumination device you choose to use lighting your way. You continue on for some time, and it feels quiet. Almost too quiet… You even make a sound just to know you’re there. Nothing seems to respond. Here you are, far from the noise of everything, the intrusive light of other beings, even the pounding of your feet against the ground feels soft. You both may be alone, but after a time, you realize that’s all it is; just being alone, with nothing here to disturb you but each other. You have the place to yourselves. Or at least, it felt that way for a time. Eventually, you hear a yelp and a rustle. You ponder what to do, but before you can make a decision, you hear another rustle, and this time you see it. A little white teenaged cat is scrambling up a tree. They almost move like a ghost; if not for the fur, you’re not sure you would’ve seen them at all. The white cat eventually realizes that you’ve spotted them. “Don’t hurt me please!” You assure the cat that you won’t. The cat doesn’t seem assuaged (though they look a little embarrassed when they look at the little guinea pig), but they continue anyway. “I wasn’t always from here, but I came here to get away from everything. Everything’s so loud and bright where you are! And I am too, I’m supposed to be, my whole litter is supposed to be, but I’m not! ‘Be the light and yowls that make us Guide Cats’, but there’s so much pressure! Tonight especially! I was supposed to guide Luna from the watering hole to a safe place, but I had trouble explaining things to her, she was already transforming! And then it got so scary! I ran as fast as I could! And I ended up here, and now it’s so… quiet, and safe. I could hide here forever. Forget everything, forget my guide cat responsibilities. And no one could ever find me! I mean, they can go without the watering hole for one night, right?” The Not-Guide Cat seems to realize what they said, and in that moment of silence, their stomach growls. “...No, that’s mean, isn’t it? I wish I could stay here. It’s so much nicer here. But I don’t know where any food is, and Luna’s still acting up, and… Oh no, as far as the denizens know, I did my task. What if they go to the watering hole while Luna’s acting up?! Ohh… I gotta at least warn them. And find something to eat. But I’m scared to move...” The cat looks up at you pityingly. “I know I’m asking a lot, but… can you help me? We can go through the woods to find some food, and some denizens to warn. And maybe even something to help with Luna. Not that I’d be able to use it well, but maybe someone else can. Or even you can, if you want to go that far. Don’t worry, I can keep an eye out for dangers for you! Don’t worry about me keeping up, I’ll be fine! ...Oh, I-I’m Lux, by the way. You look ahead and find that the path indeed goes in two directions. One path continues straight forward as it was. The other veers further right, twisting and turning and seeming to get narrower as it goes. Which way do you go? Straight and Sure, or Right and Twisted?

Unfazed by the mysterious talking cat, Creamy Snaw points to the straight path.
"I had no idea cats could become werewolves!" Snaw exclaims. "Then again, maybe this Luna you speak of is from the moon? Space cats can be pretty freaky."
Though Snaw wasn't a cat person, Umbra was a lovely cat who may be able to sense any houses to burn down. Plus, more houses mean more fans for Creamy Snaw!
"Would we need any silver or pop-related music?" asked Snaw.

"Oh dear," says the girl, "I'm sorry to hear that, Lux. I'm Jess, by the way. This sounds more important than getting a bit of candy. We'll be happy to help."
Jess looks at both paths, her white bunny ears flopping around. "What do you think, Taffy?"
But the guinea pig with the petite top hat gives no indication as to a preferred path this time.
"I guess it's up to me this time, Lux. Let's take the straight and sure path."

downrightdude - Umbra follows you down the straight path, taking turns darting by your feet and taking the lead and the opportunity to look sure of themself. "Oh, Luna's not a cat; she's as canid as any other," Umbra explained. "Though yes, I hear space cats are quite freaky!" Umbra thinks. "As for music, well... There are some things Luna likes and others she doesn't, but I'm sure something would help, if you have it! Not all magic is from magic forests. Even though it's a significant part of this one." Straight Ahead (Left)You walk the straight path through the forest, and you find yourself greeted by many little wisp visitors! One will occasionally come close and brush across your clothes or cheek, or dance around you before going on their merry way. Umbra comes to a stop ahead of you, and you see this is just before a field of flowers, none of which you recognize. Umbra darts down into the flowers and nibbles at a white clover flower before turning back to you. “I wouldn’t eat all of these, but these are generally safe. In very small doses. No magical benefits with this one, they just taste good. But anyway, we’re here to find something, and we well may! Oh, look!” Umbra prances over to some over-sized, light blue flowers. “This may help a lot! Or it may not! It doesn’t really have anything to do with Luna, but if you stick two of these flowers behind your ears, you’ll be able to levitate! Not for very long, so don’t overdo it, but you could probably see above the treetops this way. Or just levitate in general. Don’t worry, the flowers will tell you when they’re about to lose power, just be on the ground before they run out!” Umbra then prances over to another side of the field with three patches of flowers; one orange with red splotches, one shaped like purple bells, and another sprouting in clumps of tiny pink flowers. “These are magical for sure, but I don’t really get over here, so I can’t say what they are just by looking. But I should see an aura if you pick one up, and see what they do. I bet at least one of them will help! Or if you don’t like flowers, it’s fine, we can go somewhere else!” You see two paths one straight ahead and further into the bright woods, the other to the right and looking as if it gets gradually darker. Umbra pauses at the path to the right. “That’s one of the paths to my home...” They trail off. “...Uhh. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I could probably tell you what’s over there, but not only is this side easier, we’re supposed to find stuff to help Luna, and if anyone there catches me not really doing my job… Well, they might make me do my job, which is fine, but it wouldn’t really help Luna. Maybe you can find stuff over there, though? Couldn’t hurt to tell them what’s up, at least. But I’m not going there if you go. Sorry.” What do you do? You have two sets of options. You can opt to investigate a flower cluster and choose a direction in the same post.
Do you investigate a Flower Cluster? If so, do you investigate the Orange flowers, the Purple flowers, or the Pink flowers?
Do you go elsewhere? Back the way you came, continuing straight ahead, or to the right into the Dark Forest?

June ScarletAs reticent as Lux generally seems, they nevertheless appear closer and rub against Jess' leg as a thank you. They dart back to the trees before you have a chance to react. "Thank you. There may not be candy here, but there's good things in these woods. I hope you'll find something you like anyway. Straight ahead, then." Straight and Sure (Right)You continue along the path, which is as dark and quiet as it was before. You’re sure that Lux is still with you, but you can really only tell when they peeps out from behind a tree every so often, exactly near where you are. When you attempt to talk to the White Cat, it will come and quickly respond to you before running back through the trees, shadowing your trail. Eventually, you enter a copse, which is clearly unlike the others due to all the mushrooms. Some are small, typical of what you’d find in forests. Others are huge, and despite the darkness, you could swear that some of them are the size of the trees around you. It’s a mycologist’s dream come true. But not Lux’s. “Oh no, this won’t do...” The white cat mumbles as they return to your side. “I can’t really eat these. Trust me, my sister tried. Let’s just say she was the one who was supposed to take her test tonight. She was far more prepared than I am. If there are any good ones here, I’m not taking the chance.” Then Lux perks up. “But let’s look around here anyway. Maybe we can find something that’ll help us. I think some of these are magical. There might be something that sheds light, or something that may have an effect on the creature in this forest. If only I remembered what they looked like… Oh!” A patch of blue mushrooms light up at Lux walks near them. “So these are where the guide mushrooms come from! I don’t know if they’ll help us, but carry them around and they’ll light your way. Maybe they’ll help here, or you can just take one for whenever. Take as many as you’d like, I’ve heard they grow ridiculously fast here.” Lux pads their way to another few patches of mushrooms; one red cluster with little multicolored spots on them, one green swirled cluster, and one yellow cluster whose yellow fades in intensity as it nears the corners. “Or if you’re feeling lucky… You could pick one of these up. They’ll give off a magic aura that’ll tell me what it does. I’d do it myself, but… not taking these chances. Or if you’d rather not play with mushrooms, we could look elsewhere?” You look around. You can go back the way you came, or there are two other paths from here. One goes straight ahead, another goes straight left… “Not that way,” the white cat says, shrinking behind a mushroom the size of themself. “That goes back to the Bright Side; my home. I can’t go home yet; there are denizens here to warn, and besides, I can’t face home. I can’t stop you if you go, but you’d be on your own. I’m not going there.” What do you do? You have two sets of options. You can opt to investigate a mushroom cluster and choose a direction in the same post.
Do you investigate a Mushroom Cluster? If so, do you investigate the Red Cluster, Green Cluster, or Yellow Cluster?
Or do you go elsewhere? Back the way you came, continuing straight ahead, or to the left into the Bright Forest?

Creamy Snaw had completely forgotten this forest was supposedly magical.
Playing a star-shaped tambourine, Snaw jingles it loudly past a tall tree with blooming lilac-coloured flowers. As they pass the tree, a loud growling sound echoes from beyond the trees.

downrightdude - If cats could laugh, you could swear Umbra just laughed, and they step towards the flowers. "Ah, you found the Vibra Flowers! Those are fun. You play a sound near them, and it plays a sound back, either a random one, one on your mind, or one on the wood's mind. Sounds like the latter; it's probably mimicking the werewolf further in the woods. Don't worry, they're not here. But maybe it'd be a good idea to take some of those flowers with us. Maybe we could use the growls to help lure the werewolf, or something."

Creamy Snaw picks a bouquet and hands them to Umbra.
"Now what?" asks Snaw. "Shall I burn down the flowers? Or shall we run away from that mysterious Werelupe who's slowly approaching us?"

downrightdude- Umbra accepts the bouquet, and seems to hold them magically. "What, burn them? No. And I don't know what you're referring to, but it's probably best to move on now either way. We only have so much time!" ((Is the Werelupe with you? In the future, it's best to not write another 'house's' obstacles for them, as it may not go with their set-up.))

((A note for everyone, it is November 30th now, and thus the full moon! So one can continue down the path, or since it's between the 30th and the 1st, you can tell the cat that's with you to hurry up and they can take you closer! Note that they will only take you closer if they feel you have found at least one thing that will help.
New players are also welcome to join, and they can fast forward to any previous traveled destination and take a route from there! For instance, if you'd like to take the yet-unexplored right loop in the dark forest, you can write a post fast forwarding you to that decision, with the assumption that the cat of that forest tells you the same thing as previous route paths.))

Location Connection Undetermined A hole opens up from a small mound, from which you fall out, though it's difficult to discern through the dark exactly where the hole came from. You find yourself in a dense section of a dark forest, which is only illuminated by what moonlight can get through. The trees are thick here, and almost connect with each other, yet you were lucky enough to be desposited in a small, clearer area in the forest, surrounded by trees. If you look carefully, you can see three paths from where you are; one veering south into a section of forest where the trees bend to meet the path, one heading to the left where there’s evidence of slope, and one veering a little further north of left, although the path is too far and too curved for you to tell where it goes. That is, if you look carefully. You may be more interested in the many feline eyes staring at you from the trees. Upon closer inspection, you see… Many, many black cats. There are some variations; there are some cats that are solid grey, and some with a patterned mix of black and white. But most of these cats are black. You think you see a shivering white tail behind a bush, though; the owner of said tail must be hiding from you. One of the black cats make their way down from one of the trees and crosses your path. They speak, though their mouth doesn't move, and you only hear it in your head. “I have no idea how, but it seems you’ve found the home of the Watch Cats. Welcome, traveler, to Lumen Wood.” The cat flicks their tail. “You should be wary tonight. The blue moon has driven Luna to madness, and she has become an uncontrollable werewolf. We’ve sent a Watch Cat over to help her out, but we haven’t heard back from them yet; we were considering checking on them. I’m sure the Guide Cats of the bright side of the woods have also sent someone to help, though we haven’t heard anything new.” “Feel free to stay here a moment to gather your bearings. We don’t have much here, but we can share some, be it food, or perhaps, if you’re brave enough to help with Luna, something to help. Or you can talk with some of the other residents.” Most of the other residents don’t seem keen to talk; they’re either watching you lazily or intently, or just doing whatever cats do. A few of them are curious about you, though.
