Somewhere... ...there was a kitchen. That was the glory of kitchens. There were always kitchens. Anywhere you went in the world, you could count on finding a kitchen. Sometimes they were surrounded by a cottage, sometimes by a ship, sometimes by an insane asylum, sometimes by a palace 1, but there was always something comfortingly familiar about the kitchen itself - as though there was only ever one in existence in the entire universe, manifesting in a myriad forms as the hub of pleasant aromas and deliciously creative ways to enjoy life. Of course, the gang of Meepits who were currently lurking outside one such kitchen weren't generally prone to philosophizing. They were much more interested in the mundane simplicities of raiding anyplace that had the decency to leave a pie cooling on the open kitchen window. On the one hand, a simple enough task. On the other hand, there were lots of factors to consider if you wanted to do this properly and successfully, and this particular gang had long since perfected their tactical approach and generally wasn't very easily distracted. Even so, they'd been forced to admit that this town was a bit unusual. "Right, okay," Bloody Mary, the leader-of-the-gang-for-all-intents-and-purposes said sternly. "We all know the drill. Fan out, stay concealed. If the owner shows up with a broom then you all know how I feel about spontaneous humorous skits with scattering pell-mell while someone falls into the pie and then jumps right back out screaming with their tail on fire. It's a pie, it's cooling on the window, we all know that blueberry takes forever to cool, we're trying to swipe it, not ruin it, and everyone hopefully remembers what happened to the last wiseguy who thought these operations were the time and place for fifty-year-old comedy." He cast a look over the dark blue congregation of round-eyed faces, all currently huddled under a lilac bush in the garden. "All clear on this? Good. Questions?" At that point, an anchovy fell on his head. "All of a sudden, multiple," said Justice, who was the second-in-command of the group and thus tasked with patching up tactical holes that Bloody Mary either refused to see or was blissfully unaware of. She craned her neck towards the sky and then quickly backed farther into the lilac bush as more anchovies pattered against the ground. Bloody Mary removed the anchovy, his face thunderous, sniffed it cautiously and then ate it. "Pickled," he conceded and then also looked at the sky. "Looks to have been a local shower. Normal to this region, do you suppose?" In their experience, sudden anchovy showers usually meant that the owner of the kitchen they were targeting was throwing food out and it was time to skedaddle, but they'd had to readjust their thinking in this town after the recent gust of glitter. But this really did look to be a local shower, specifically from a tiny cloud roughly the size of a kiddie pool that was floating serenely across the garden. The Meepits stared at it accusingly until it drifted off over the fence. "Well, that's a step up from glitter in any case," Justice admitted cautiously. "At least it should be relatively safe around Santa." They all glanced at Santa, who was a valuable team member with excellent lateral thinking, which is to say that she was an amiably aloof little Meepit who'd happily eaten nearly her own weight in glitter when it rained down four days earlier. Since it wasn't entirely out of the ordinary for her and didn't seem to bother her at all, the others hadn't been very concerned, but they still had to quickly shuffle upwind from her whenever she burped. Having determined that the sky was looking innocent enough for the time being, the Meepits ate the rest of the anchovies and then clambered up the drainpipe. 1The latter two are a bit interchangeable at the best of times. Have a gang of Meepits. They're currently very interested in a pie cooling in someone's kitchen and also passingly interested in what the weather is doing, inasmuch as it fits on the sliding scale of edible.

Princess Sunshine, huh? Rachel chuckled. Even though she was young, it was nice to see someone trying to figure out what was going on. The enthusiasm was infectious, though Rachel worried about the little magical girl getting hurt along the way. In her time, Rachel has seen some nasty weather. This weather could be no different. “Pleasure to meet you, Princess Sunshine,” Rachel said with a smile. “My name is Rachel and this is Evi.” She motioned to him. “There’s clearly something sinister and weird going on in this town. I’m sure the entire town of Uffnewt will be thankful for your service.” Rachel straightened her posture. “However, trying to figure out what’s causing this weather. That’s a big job. Weather can be very dangerous. Are you going to do it all on your own?” Rachel finds Princess Sunshine ( PFA ) cute and entertaining. She introduces herself and Evi ( RielCZ ) and thanks her for her service, even though she's concerned about her investigating this weather weirdness.

“Lovely weather today, Phyllis,” said Gladys, leaning on her neighbor’s fence.
“Just absolutely lovely weather,” agreed Phyllis.
A small rain cloud only about an arm’s length wide floated by just above their heads. Phyllis pulled out an umbrella and held it aloft just as the small cloud started drizzling tiny droplets of minty fresh toothpaste.
“A bit muggy, though,” Phyllis said.
“Yes, it is a bit muggy,” Gladys said.
“Gladys, dear,” called her husband Jonas as he hurried towards the house. “We best get inside, a big storm’s a-coming. Big golf ball-sized hail.”
“Oh my,” said Gladys.
“Oh dear,” said Phyllis.
Jonas paused and squinted into the distance. “On second thought, I believe that it might be actual golf balls.”
With a great bouncing cacophony, another small cloud hovered down the street past them, dropping a slew of golf balls behind it as it went.
“I saw some other lovely little clouds passing by when I went to the bakery this morning,” Phyllis said. “One of them was raining jigsaw puzzle pieces.”
“My, I wonder what that might mean,” said Jonas.
“It was not drizzling, but puzzling, you might say,” Gladys said.
Phyllis, Jonas, and Gladys discuss the weather, which includes golf ball-sized hail golf balls falling from the sky and (also jigsaw puzzle pieces).

"N-no! Maybe! That's not important!" Princess Sunshine frowned, crossing her arms over her chest. "Anyway, this weather just seems too strange to be natural. Something sinister is afoot, I can feel it!"Evi shrugged. He supposed in the grand scheme of things she was right -- that was not an important fact. Everyone here seemed to have some sort of interesting... thing, about themself. And hey, he learned a long time ago that it was best to just accept it. Not being from Uffnewt originally -- several years ago, he had moved from one of the Coves not too far away -- he insisted his thing was that he didn't have a thing. Or, to clients, his thing was that he could always take the perfect photo! Regardless, it made the strange things that happened here all the more interesting, to him. Luckily, Rachel replied first whilst he was lost in thought. She and Princess Sunshine seemed to be conversing about the weather; although interesting enough in these times, he was sure he would hear the important details later from his weather lady counterpart. He instead took out his camera, fiddled with some settings, and randomly looked around through the preview. Someone flying overhead? Seen it. A bunch of blue things scurrying up a drain pipe? Not unusual. Ooh, a cloud dropping puzzle pieces. Now that was a new one. *snap* The other side is BLUE. Evi looks around with his camera and shoots a cloud dropping puzzle pieces.

The girl turned to see an adult clap her hands. "Well done," she told the girl, and she meant it. "What's your name? Are you practicing for a show?" "Thank you! I'm Jess, and yeah, I guess you could say I'm practicing for a show. There's not particularly one coming up, but you never know when one will!" The Guinea Pig made happy cooing squeaks nestled in Jess' arms. "This is Taffy, by the way, I guess you could call her my magician's assistant." Remembering her manners, Jess shifted Taffy to one arm and offered out a hand to the woman for a handshake. "It's lovely to meet you, what's your name?" Just then, a large plate-sized puzzle piece dropped at her feet. "Hmm?" pondered Jess, stooping down to pick it up. Turning it over in confusion, she saw the other side was blue. She turned it back to its original side, and showed it to the stranger. "It looks like a picket fence?" Jess introduces herself and Taffy to the woman Kat. Just then, a puzzle piece lands at her feet. Looks like a picket fence.

"It's nice to meet you both!" Princess Sunshine said with a smile. In response to Rachel's question, she added, "I don't mind danger, but I don't know if I can figure this out on my own. That's why I was hoping you two might have some information, but— WATCH OUT!" The girl quickly dodge-rolled out of the way as a plate-sized object clattered to the ground where she had previously been standing. After a moment to regain her bearings (and shake glitter out of her hair), she turned to see what the object was: a puzzle piece. "Where did that come from?" she wondered, picking up the puzzle piece and turning it over in her hands. Other than its size, it seemed to be a standard puzzle piece with a blue backing. "This could be a clue!" Princess Sunshine deduced. "I wonder if there's more of these?" Princess Sunshine tells Rachel ( Rabbit ♠) that she's not sure if she can solve the mystery alone, which is why she was looking for information. She then dodge-rolls out of the way of a mysterious falling puzzle piece. She suspects it to be a clue and wonders if there are more puzzle pieces to be found.

As Princess Sunshine was talking, the sky overhead got a bit dark. Rachel looked up at the sky. She saw a large… thing falling down towards her. She barely managed to jump back before the object fell at her feet. It was… a puzzle piece? Rachel looked over at the others. Princess Sunshine looked like she dodged another puzzle piece while Evi was taking pictures of a third. Rachel quizzically looked at the puzzle piece that fell at her feet. The puzzle piece was about as large as a plate or a frisbee. The puzzle piece itself looked like there was a home or some sort of building on it, but she couldn’t tell much more than that. She picked it up to examine it more. On the other side, the puzzle piece is a bright green. It reminded her of the chroma key screens at the weather station for forecasting. “This is all extremely odd. Puzzle pieces?” the weathergirl said to herself. Rachel opened up her umbrella. The ribs of the umbrella grew, much longer than how it appeared while it was folded up. Rachel held the umbrella over herself and Princess Sunshine while motioning for Evi to join them underneath it. “I think you’re onto something, Princess Sunshine. There could be more,” she went on. “Or maybe more will fall. I’m not taking any chances.” Then she muttered under her breath, “And I thought the glitter was the worst thing we dealt with.” SUDDEN PUZZLE PIECES So Rachel gets her puzzle piece. She invites Princess Sunshine ( PFA ) and Evi ( RielCZ ) to go puzzle piece hunting. Under her magic umbrella! No, she's not over the glitter.

At a cottage just at the edge of town, in the midst of all the craziness, there flitted a person back and forth, hard at work, between their small little house and a mound full of equipment, sheltered off by a fence. In their hands was their fourth mug of coffee this morning and a record book, and slung on their back was a bag of tools. Back and forth, they would go to this mound of weather equipment, take several measurements recorded in their book, and return to the house. Believe it or not, besides the frequency of these outings, this behavior was not unusual for them. They probably should’ve been more concerned by the goings-on. Especially when the second day of weather completely ruined their garden sideplot. But they were more excited by the prospects. How this was all happening, where the glitter came from, how the water escaped and fought gravity, what it all meant for the systems! And it made absolutely no sense! Their computers never reported charts that would indicate such a weather system, much less a weather system of glitter. It was all completely unprecedented. And that was the beauty of it! It meant that someone had to figure it out!And this person was determined that that person would be them, Era, the town’s local unemployed eccentric! Not unemployed for lack of trying! It had always been hard for them to keep jobs, or some reason or another. In part their behavior, and in part their lack of skillsets, as obsessive as they could be! Several years ago, they gained an obsession over the weather, and seemed determined to learn everything they could. They used all the information resources available, spent their spare money on a weather data collecting station, and promised to help the local weather station’s data collection as part of citizen science… Of course, they couldn’t do much like this. It was the weather stations themselves that had all the real equipment. The satellite data! The field work! All the more they could do!! But. They’d paid attention to the weather station, and all the reports by Ray Nextpected and how he reported, what he did, how they could legally or illegally (thankfully mostly the former) access the data he got, how to actually use it, the reports from their station they sent, increasing the frequency, all the times they waved at Ray Nextpected in public to make sure that he would remember them… One day, they would be sure to hire them. But the very thing to ensure that? Figuring out this zany, crazy, wonderful weather!! Sure, it made no sense! Matched up with no models! Stressed out the most experienced of weather reporters! But that was just the thing. They had experience. Era had none! That meant they had no pre-conceptions! And they. Were going. To use that! And have fun doing it! After all, the glitter in their splayed-out short-ish ponytail still glinted in the sun, their shoes were nice and clean after that uprain, the blizzard and heat wave was a great chance to see how their clothing really stood in varying conditions, and the daylight… Well, they never had a great sleep schedule anyway; now they had no excuse to not keep at this!! (With several more cups of coffee than normally called for!) They hurried back into their little house, typed their findings into a spreadhseet on the computer, sent the update to the local weather service, and then printed what they have before darting to the wall and adding another paper to the corkboard. Yes, yes… Nothing was coming together. But that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t.All they needed was a pattern, another connection… Maybe another data point, another weird case, something that would allude to a pattern, another piece of the puzzle-- Whomp whomp ba-donk ba-donk CRSHH!!Era jumped back as the ceiling window broke, bringing in a torrent of… “Golf balls, golf balls!” Era laughed. “Oh, that matches up with nothing, but that’s great, that’s new!” They put a bucket under the window (...and then placed some clothes in the bucket to stop the bouncing) and rushed out to the weather station again… And returned too promptly. They wouldn’t figure anything out if they got head trauma. But before they had gone inside, they had noticed… “...A puzzle piece? ...I didn’t think it’d be so literal.” The golf cloud passed as quickly as it came. Era set right to work, running out to the weather station, trying to take data while snapping pictures and videos of the cloud with their phone. ...Aw shoot. The golf balls had bent the anemometer, and there was a crack in the rain gauge, which had promptly filled up with golf balls. ...Okay, they could still take readings from the rain gauge like this, until it actually rained, and they did have a replacement for it they could easily install. But the anemometer was another story. They quickly took their readings and spent some time attempting repairs, before deciding that the anemometer just flat-out needed a replacement. They took a picture of the anemometer for reference before scurrying to return. Cue a quick internet search to find that yes, they could order it, but also, a bunch of airplanes were being cancelled… And the weather incidents were happening now. They needed to try for something faster… They posted their findings again before collecting their things—including a small journal they’ve been noting their findings in--and rushing out the door. First, a quick trip to the station to replace the rain gauge. Then back over and out! They stopped briefly on the way, examining the puzzle piece again… Before picking it up. Huh. Clearly it must’ve been part of something, but what? They got lucky; it looked to be a corner piece; white on one side, red on the other. Did others get a puzzle piece too? ...What wonders if it did and made something! They had to find out! Another item on the agenda, then. They scribbled something in their book before storing the piece and rushing off further into town. When they arrived at town square, they wasted no time in holding out their puzzle piece and waving it around excitedly. “Hey! Did anyone else get a puzzle piece?!” they shouted to anyone within hearing range. “Also, weather people, I need to talk to you!” ((TL;DR? You can skip to the last couple paragraphs for the stuff relevant to your character!)) Meet Era! They’re a wannabe meteorologist who’s very excited about the weather, for the intrigue and for rather selfish reasons! They’re maybe a little… too excited. They’re also drinking a lot of coffee, which is probably not helping anyone but them. (Also, Era is agender, and in their case doesn’t care what pronouns you use for them!) They’ve been hard at work at their home weather station (yes, you can buy them!), taking aaaall the readings and sending their data to the local weather station as part of a Citizen Science thing and also a “hey, I’m competent, hire me!” thing. (This is also a thing regular people can do to contribute to weather data! I think there’s a course or certification thing they have to take; let’s just assume they’ve taken it.) Then suddenly, golf balls! Countless of them!! They take it in stride, until they realize it kinda broke their anemometer. (It measures wind.) (It broke their rain gauge too, but they can replace it easily; literally all they need is a container.) They wanna get a part, but they know flights are getting cancelled, so they’re hoping to find another, more local source for some quick action-getting and pride-boosting! They grab the puzzle piece (which is very exciting for them!!) and rush into town, before loudly presetning their piece to the world, and also calling out for any weather people in town. ( Rabbit ♠, Pixie, Lizica) (I’d respond to the puzzle pieces already out, but then you’d probably get even more paragraphs, and this is already very long! Next post, I promise.)

David had a habit of speaking to inanimate objects. Whenever his rickety computer was slow to load, he would sometimes swear and threaten to destroy it with his son's junior league baseball bat. Other times, he'd be more encouraging, politely lecturing his computer on the virtues of perseverance. Yet other times, he'd cheer it on, if it were doing a good job. If he were mopping, and a stain on the ground was giving him a hard time, he'd swear at it and call it names until it finally disappeared. If a gust of wind happened to blow open the door, he'd thank it for its time. If his stomach growled, he'd ask it to be patient. Many people had this habit, of course, but in David's case, his various exhortations and encouragements seemed to actually work. He would turn a faulty faucet on, mumble something about how it would sure be nice if he could have some water right now, give up on the matter entirely, then return to see that he had a fresh cup of water waiting to be drank. He'd ask the weather to be a bit nicer on him--and it would usually comply. He'd ask if his glasses could be cleaner, and, sure enough, they'd inexplicably tidy themselves up. When Daniel heard the weather channel drone on and on about how odd the weather was in Ufftnewt, he leaned back against his patchy sofa--well, more of a skeleton of a sofa, really--tilted his head so it faced his slowly-decaying wall, and exclaimed, "ugh! If only the weather would be kind enough to give us a way out of this mess!" And, several hours later, while he was walking his pet cat around his glitter-soaked yard, a small rain cloud passed by, and a puzzle piece fell at his feet: He turned it over in confusion. Thinking it rather strange, he went back inside to determine whether or not it was part of the myriad of puzzle sets that littered his "study room." He checked the puzzle piece against the 200-strong pile of completed puzzle sets. Curiously, not one piece matched with his existing--which was bizarre, because David owned all the puzzles that could be owned in his place. Clearly, there still existed a puzzle set he hadn't mastered! Overcome with joy, he skipped out his decrepit house, asking the way to show him where other puzzle pieces may be. David is a Weird Guy who likes puzzles and has a subtly magical ability--basically, he can ask for things to do stuff and they usually go along with it. He found a puzzle piece, and is currently looking for anyone else on the street who might have a puzzle piece too!

Cassidy smiled and shook Jess' proffered hand warmly. "It's a pleasure to meet both of you. I'm Cassidy Clarion, but you can call me Cass. If you ever have a show, I'd love to - " But before the woman could say what she would love to do, a large puzzle piece dropped at Jess' feet, prompting the girl to pick it up, look it over, and then turn it over to see if there was anything else of note on the back. Then Jess showed Cassidy the fallen piece. "It looks like a picket fence?"Cassidy nodded her agreement, her brow furrowing in thought. "It does, with a garden behind it." But before she could say or think of anything else about this potential new weather phenomenon (raining puzzle pieces no longer seems so far-fetched at this rate), she notices a small rain cloud hovering in the sky - too low for normal clouds. Instead of rain, it ejects another puzzle piece that lands at her feet. Just like that piece Jess picked up, Cassidy thought to herself. Bending down, she swept up the piece. She shook her head in mild exasperation. "Really? Is it raining puzzles now?" Then she showed Jess her piece. "Mine isn't a picket fence," Cassidy observed, "but there seems to be a part of a building or a house, and...the top of a tree?" Then she flipped the piece over; it was blue, too. "This can't be a coincidence. Maybe other people are finding puzzle pieces on the ground. Should we start asking around?" Cassidy meets Jess and her Guinea Pig, Taffy ( June Scarlet). Their introductions are interrupted by falling puzzle pieces, which they show each other. Jess' looks like a picket fence, but Cassidy's is different, and shows something resembling a treetop and a part of a building. Cassidy proposes that she and Jess start asking around to see if other people have found similar puzzle pieces.

The small gang of Meepits was now expertly looting the kitchen that was soon to be woefully devoid of pies and also a lot of other supplies depending on how quickly the owner managed to get back. And even if they'd still been outside when the next small passing cloud dropped a puzzle piece in their general direction, they would've considered it rather a step down from anchovies (and even glitter, as far as Santa was concerned) and most probably shrugged it off without much concern. So the puzzle piece sat forlornly in the streetward side of the lilac bush until some guy named Jeff passed by and spotted it. Under normal circumstances, he would've walked right past because the jigsaw piece was sitting in a bush in someone's garden and he wasn't the type of guy to steal things the residents' kids might've been throwing around in there. But something in his brain nudged him to pick it up. It felt important. He turned to look at the other side. Huh. Jeff couldn't help but feel a sense of uncomfortable foreboding for whatever reason. But then again, he also felt strangely excited. And the sense of importance was definitely there the more he looked at the piece, so he tucked the puzzle piece under his arm and trotted off to see what could be done about it. Some guy named Jeff finds a puzzle piece. Luckily, Jeff is the kind of guy who won't simply walk past one and instead knows how to grab his fate by the horns. Be more like Jeff =D

"Oh, Anton, darling, hello!" Aggie waved to the vampire as he passed her by, a big smile on her face. "It was just lovely, thank you. A perfect blend, one that goes fantastically with some white chocolate sponge. I've been working on something to thank you: some blood orange herbal tea, which I am sure will be just to your taste." It was unusual to see Anton out this time of day...but then again, with the weather they had been having lately, nothing was unusual anymore. "You poor dear, you must be hating this current situation. Poor H-oolong here has been unable to hunt properly but he, at least, does not get hurt by the sun." The owl on her shoulder gave a sad 'uh-ooo' of affirmation. He liked Anton: he frequently ran into him during his nightly hunts but as long as neither disturbed the other, it was all good. Besides, Anton delivered tasties for him. "Would you like some tea, or perhaps cake? We can find a nice shady spot, or if you must be on your way, I can give it to you on the go," Aggie continued. "There is nothing like tea and cake for some comfor-" There was a yowl from Purr-eh as he cat jumped a metre into the air and shuttered into Aggie's arms. "Whoa, who, Purr-eh, it's alright, dearest," she cooed, petting her. "What happened? Who hurt you?" She looked up, just in time to glimpse a vanishing cloud beyond the brim of her wide hat. Oh, the weather was doing something odd again. What had it thrown at them this time? Why could it not rain biscuits, for once? Although biscuits on the floor would be just terrible. Still petting her cat, Aggie glanced at the ground to see what had fallen down. She did not know what she expected but a puzzle piece was not one of them. She picked it up, turning it on its side, examining it from all angles. "How very peculiar..." Aggie frowned. Placing the puzzle piece carefully in her basket, she cast her eyes around. Where there was one piece, there were surely more. "Purr-eh, H-oolong, dearies, can you look for other puzzle pieces?" The owl and the pussycat both split off in different directions. H-oolong soared above but it was not long before he got distracted by the sight of a guinea pig. They day-night cycle interruption meant it had been a while since he had a proper hunt. Cake was nice but it was hardly satisfying. But the guinea pig had an owner. Aggie would not like him taking other people's pets. Not since one incident with a particularly annoying dwarf hamster. A lot of tea and cake had been taken to soothe that. Wait, those people had puzzle pieces! Exactly what he was looking for. H-oolong alighted on the shoulder of the dark-haired one and hooted, tilting his head at her puzzle piece. Purr-eh, meanwhile, wandered over to one of her favourite people besides Aggie. She did not know her name; all she knew was that the girl was nice and her dress was bright and sparkly, perfect for playing with whenever she was bored. The black cat wandered over and rubbed herself against Princess Sunshine's legs before she too, noticed the puzzle pieces her and the people she were talking to (whoever those were) held. The cat gave a loud meow, demanding attention. Aggie chats to Anton ( Fraze), replying to his questions and sympathising about the weather. Then her cat gets hit by a puzzle. Figuring there are more pieces to put together, she sends our Purr-eh and H-oolong to find people. The owl finds Jess( June Scarlet) and Cassidy( Kat) while the cat finds her favourite person ( PFA) and whoever she's talking to. ( RielCZ, Rabbit ♠)

Before Cassidy could start asking around, she let out a strangled yelp at the sound and feel of flapping wings, and the sensation of talons gripping her shoulder, nearly dropping her puzzle piece. She turned to see that a tawny owl had just decided that she was an ideal perch. "What the - ?" Her next thought was about Taffy, but the owl's attention wasn't on the Guinea Pig at all. Instead, its head was noticeably tilted toward her puzzle piece. Slowly, Cassidy relaxed and let out a breath. What if this owl was another piece of the puzzle they were solving? It seemed harmless - possibly even sentient, if it was choosing to focus on the piece in Cassidy's hand instead of on a potential meal. "Jess? Do you...know this owl?" She pointed to the bird, wondering if it might have something to do with their current conundrum, or if it was another resident of Uffnewt with which she was unfamiliar. "It seems to know something." H-oolong, Aggie's ( Celestial) owl, has located Jess ( June Scarlet) and Cassidy, and their respective puzzle pieces. Cassidy is surprised by the sudden arrival of the owl and asks Jess if she knows anything about it.

Princess Sunshine willingly ducked under Rachel's umbrella. "Good idea," she said. "You never know what might fall from the sky next." A sharp noise from nearby startled her to attention. Turning to see the source, it seemed that a stray cloud was raining golf balls onto the pavement, as if to accentuate her point. Princess Sunshine coughed. "We should look around. There might be more puzzle pieces to find," she suggested. "Maybe they can help us solve this mystery once and for all!" She felt something bump against her leg, again startling her to attention. It was a cat, one she had seen many times before. This cat had a habit of wandering off, so Princess Sunshine had many times taken it upon herself to return the cat to its owner, who would thank her for the act by treating her to some delicious tea. Princess Sunshine smiled, bending down to scratch Purr-eh behind the ear. "Hey there. Sorry, I'm a bit busy," she said, before noticing that Purr-eh was looking at the puzzle piece in her hand. Did the cat know something about these puzzle pieces? "Wait, have you seen more of these?" Princess Sunshine suggests to Rachel and Evi ( Rabbit ♠, RielCZ) that they should look for more puzzle pieces, before getting distracted by a cat ( Celestial). Noticing that Purr-eh seems interested in the puzzle pieces, she asks if the cat's seen more of them.

Reading by the glow of the faerie lights on her wall, Gibi kept her nose down and mind occupied with stories of other places. Suddenly, though, she whipped her head up and looked towards her closed curtains. Why, she wasn't sure. She just knew it couldn't be good. Seconds later, a heavy pounding shook her window and walls, and she carefully crept over and gazed outside. Literal golf balls rained down to the ground, plunking and bouncing off of every surface as they went and making a ruckus. The initial shock of her premonition faded, and Gibi simply watched the golf balls' show while it still lasted. As much as she could feel misfortune around her, she felt little fear of potential physical harm. Perhaps it was because this event's foreboding hadn't been the strongest, and she knew it would pass soon. Maybe these premonitions in general had also made her grow rather numb; when you're always feeling a vague sense of dread, you come to learn what will actually hurt and what doesn't. Sometimes it seemed as though she forgot she had a body to be hurt at all. Sure enough, it seemed to be just one cloud dropping its sporty precipitation, and it left Gibi's apartment in a matter of minutes. Before the downpour completely halted, though, the shower plunked one last object against Gibi's window, causing her jump back in surprise. It wasn't a golf ball. Sunlight poking out again, Gibi looked to her outside window sill to see if the object was still there. Sure enough, she could see it clinging to life there, and she carefully opened her window to grab it before it plummeted. She turned it around in her hands. While the weather had been anything but normal lately, Gibi still found the concept of a single puzzle piece raining down odd. If there was one thing this weather wasn't, it was deliberate, and she knew she couldn't have been some Chosen One to receive the only special puzzle piece. There had to be more that randomly dropped outside. Gibi wondered if, gathered together, they'd actually form a complete puzzle, or if like everything else, no sense or logic was applied to the pieces. Still, it might make a nice pass time, a free puzzle from the sky. She dressed herself in a large overcoat and headed out of her apartment, walking downstairs and into the sunlight. She blinked against its brightness, shading her face and instinctively pulling her coat in just a little bit closer. She started to scour the ground for more puzzle pieces, the original tucked in her pocket. Gibi is reading in her apartment when she senses something coming. Sure enough, the golf ball shower hits her place, and she watches while it passes. Before it goes, though, it leaves her a mysterious puzzle piece! She figures it's not the only one, so she goes outside to search for more.
