With the townspeople’s enthusiasm and resourcefulness, it wasn’t long before they were able to gather and piece together the strange jigsaw puzzle pieces.
“...It’s just a house with a picket fence,” someone said when it was complete, sounding somewhat disappointed at how mundane it was for something they’d hoped would be a major clue.
“Then obviously we need to find out where the house is,” someone else suggested.
There was some babble, and theories, and discussion, and some arguments about proper directions, and some scrambling to avoid a small passing cloud that was raining paperclips.
“I saw a house like this in a magazine once. It could be outside of Uffnewt, for all we know.”
“Don’t we have a neighborhood of really old houses, though?”
“Near that cul-de-sac?”
“No, maybe near the center of town?”
“I’ve lived here a long time. I think I know where all those old houses are. I can take you that far--” Ray Nextpected piped up, and a third lizard appeared on his head. “...--but then you’re on your own. I can’t stay out here in good conscience. I... need to go and buy terrariums for these slippery creatures.” He gestured to the lizards that showed no sign of leaving.
So, although confused about the lizard situation, the jigsaw puzzle group followed the ex-weatherman to one of Uffnewt’s older neighborhoods. And lo and behold, there was the house! They recognized it at once, matching up its features with their own pieces exactly. One person in their eagerness rushed up to the gate of the picket fence--but found that it wouldn’t budge.
“This is the right place...right?” they prompted, suddenly unsure.
The townspeople murmured and scrutinized the old house even harder.
As they stared at the house, the image started to fleetingly shift before their eyes. If they looked at any spot too long, and quickly turned their heads about in a different direction, something inexplicably seemed different. If they blinked, an altered version of the place flashed in the mind’s eye. The second anyone became distracted from the spot, it was back to the way it had been.
Even for this town, this was very…peculiar. What collective trick of the mind were they experiencing?
“This looks like a glamour illusion of some kind,” one of the more experienced magic-users said.
“How do we get rid of it?”
“We should be able to force the glamour to collapse if all of us keep focusing on it. Let’s make sure we see through all its tricks.”It’s a Find the Differences puzzle! (We recommend dragging the image into a new tab for a better size.) There are 15 Differences, as well as some bonuses: 5 Gems and 4 Keyholes . (The gems and keyholes do not count as part of the 15.) You're free to search for all the things on your own, but in an attempt to try to make it more of a team effort, if you post with your character or on the OOC chat, please try to limit your finds to one at a time and take turns. Happy spell-breaking!

Ray motioned for Sherrie to follow him, and she did, obediently but unsurely. Aside from being a loyal viewer of the weather report on TV, she knew nothing about the topic. But the person who called for the weather people’s help also mentioned something about puzzle pieces, and she had indeed found one, so she’d better bring it over. The stranger’s call had gathered a decent number of people, but not recognizing anyone, Sherrie stood in the sidelines, listening to everyone’s banter. It wasn’t long before a man introduced himself, handing her another puzzle piece. ”I’m Evi, and we're all on the same quest, it seems. See if this fits any of yours.”“Hey, my name is Sherrie. Say, haven’t we met before?” She said, taking a good look at Evi’s face, who looked vaguely familiar, but she was unable to place him. Finally, her eyes landed on his camera. “Oh, yes, I remember now! We worked together at that "Not The Wildest Flower” Winter lookbook photoshoot last year. Oh, it was beautiful! I was so glad they brought me on board to do the hairstyling. It was fun giving the models icy blue hair! Didn’t that look SO editorial?” Sherrie made a pause to reminisce. “I’m surprised you don’t remember me,” she said vaguely pointing at her pink hair. “But I suppose you only have eyes for one lady!” She said, smiling at Rachel and giving her a wink. Suddenly, Sherrie remembered the puzzle piece the man had handed her, and blushed, realizing she had gotten carried away “Sorry, I digress. I’m very passionate about my job!” She took a closer look at his piece, “Aw, this looks nothing like mine. It doesn’t look like they connect, and they’re completely different colors in the back. I suppose we’ll have to pool them in with the others.” And so she did. Soon, everyone had put their pieces together and solved the puzzle, but the mystery just kept going. Too deep into it to pull out, she went along with the group to the house. It was a beautiful house, to be sure. At least at first sight. The glamor illusion on it seemed to be covering some damage to the property. Sherrie couldn’t blame the owner (or whoever cast the magic on it.) Quick fix magic was much more convenient than the alternative. Why not use it if one could! It was as if she’d use dye to color her hair. What a ridiculous waste of time that would be! Focus, Sherrie! Focus! … was that the voice inside her head, or the lizard on top of it? Either way, she stared intently at the fencing… waiting and hoping it’d do something. Sherrie follows Ray in response to Era's ( Gelquie ) call for weather people and puzzle piece finders. There she 'meets' Evi ( RielCZ ), who she recognizes from working at a photoshoot together in the past, and thus rambles his ear off. (Sorry! But she also thinks he and Rabbit ♠ make a really cute couple!) She puts in her piece and presumably helps put together the puzzle, and then follows the group to the house, where she tried staring intently at the fence to see if anything will happen.

"Oh!" Gibi was taken aback when out of nowhere, another puzzle piece was presented before her. "Ah, thanks." She took it from the hand of Rose, who happily extended it in her direction. The look on their face seemed to be asking Gibi for something in return. "Um, good job," she praised, "Good work, I was just looking for more of these." "Oh, hi Gibi! Hi Rose! Taffy says hi! I'd love to chat, but we're following Who-long to the Tea Witch in case she knows something about these puzzle pieces Cass and I found. Bye!""Oh-!" For what seemed like the first time in a while, good fortune suddenly surrounded Gibi, and the universe continued to aid her in her puzzle piece quest. Jess zipped by as quickly as she came, so Gibi hitched up the skirt of her jacket and started to make chase. She wasn't sure how far Jess was planning to go or where this "Tea Witch" was supposed to be, but she couldn't sense anything bad happening from following. As she trailed Jess, her feet almost glided against the ground, deliberately trying to make as little noise as possible as though staying on tiptoe. Gibi had little time for questions when the Tea Owl finally led them to their destination. There were many others gathered around, all seeming to have puzzle pieces of their own. On the ground, they were figuring out the right places for each piece. Gibi hovered near the back of the crowd, quietly evaluating her own piece's placement. When others had taken their turns, she silently slid forward and fitted her piece into the puzzle. Soon enough, the whole picture had been revealed; unfortunately, it didn't seem to be a location that anyone immediately recognized. Speculation began on where and what the house may be, whether it was even in town or not. One man with a particularly strong aura of bad luck that day (Gibi couldn't help but giggle despite his misfortune- lizards weren't the worst kind of folly to have!) offered to lead the group to where he believed the house was. Although hesitating at first knowing the man's tendency to misfortune, Gibi soon followed along with everyone else, figuring anything that happened couldn't be too bad. She stayed near the back of the group. Turns out the man did indeed locate the house. It reached towards the sky with a very gothic, yet peaceful, appearance. The fence in front was quaint, and a soft tree rested against the house's side. The sky churned with dark clouds, but there was no telling how long they'd stay. For now, things were quiet. The longer Gibi looked, though, along with everyone else, the more they noticed not all was at it seemed. A glamour illusion was apparently in place; Gibi had never gotten to experience one first hand. At least, as far as she knew. "I, uh..." Gibi quietly spoke up. The whole time, she had stuck to the back, but she knew for this she'd have to talk to at least someone. She turned to one of the people close to her, who she believed was the Tea Witch from before. "That top left window looks broken to you too, right?" Gibi thanks Rose ( Liou ) for their puzzle piece, then she follows Jess ( June Scarlet) upon hearing that she's going to figure out the puzzle piece mystery. Gibi soon joins the group putting their pieces together, putting her own piece in its proper place. Once the puzzle is solved and Ray Nexpected ( Pixie ) leads them to the house, Gibi observes the house like the others. She timidly turns to Aggie ( Celestial ) to point out the difference in the top left window.

Sherrie proceeded to talk his ear off about last winter's Not The Wildest Flower photoshoot. Good times. He grinned at his newfound recognition of her. "Ah, yes, I DO know you now, now that you mention it! Sorry for not recognizing you earlier, Sherrie. Must be the crowds." Or the cat. "And yeah, I admired your hair-raising magic, so to speak -- VERY Editorial of you." He gave her a surreptitious look. But he blushed when she made her comment on him and Rachel. "Heh, maybe," he replied. *** A glamour illusion, eh? He had seen it in action before, of course. Glamour illusions were used by Sherrie, as well as by some people he had photographed -- combine magic with his ability to perfectly capture a photo and everything was "Nice" -- but he had never seen it on a building before... or maybe he had just never stopped long enough by a place to realize it? He overheard someone talk about a broken window. Evi whipped out his camera and zoomed in on said window. "Fascinating," he said to himself. Usually, magic could be photographed without issue. But this time -- although it did not appear broken on the preview -- the window certainly had a strange shadow about it. Naturally, he was drawn to angles, and he scoured the angled roof of the abode. Ah, a strange shadow! He lowered his camera and, looking out of the corner of his eye, noticed that the strange shadow was actually a gem. He pointed to it. "I see a gem in that corner!" he proudly said to Rachel, and possibly Sherrie, and whomever else might be nearby. Evi talks to Sherrie ( Ginz ❤ ) and recognizes her. *** He notices the gem in the top left side of the roof and points this out to Rachel ( Rabbit ♠ ), though likely Sherrie and possibly others hear him as well.

Despite other's shouting and such, Jess didn't stop running until she reach the Tea Witch. She figured things would sort themselves out, and they did. The puzzle was put together, and the group found the matching house in a nearby neighborhood. Ah, so the house wasn't all it seemed. As she stared at it, it seemed to stare right back. Jess wondered why, until she realized it looked like the birch tree had grown an eye, and it was staring right at her. It was creepy. "There, the truck to the left, there's an eye that appears and disappears." Jess has no time to stop and talk. Things sort themselves out in the end. At the house, she find an eye on the birch tree to the left.

A mysterious abode covered in illusion magic? Princess Sunshine looked over the scenery, making note particularly of the bird silhouette in the tree. A crow, perhaps? The presence of a crow was often seen as a bad omen. There was no doubt about it—this was the home of a wicked sorcerer seeking to take away the sun! "I think I might be able to break through this illusion," Princess Sunshine said, holding out her wand. "Everyone stand back!" The wand began to glow with brilliant light. Princess Sunshine waved the wand around in a circle, which caused a sun pattern to appear in the air in front of her. " Illumination ray!" A beam of light shot from the sun pattern and struck the tree. The light lingered for a moment before fading, revealing that the bird was now gone. Princess Sunshine smiled. "I did it! It's gone!" she cheered, pointing to where the bird silhouette once was. "See? It's— huh?" She looked again where she was pointing, and sure enough, the bird was back, exactly where it had been before. "Aw, come on! Stupid bird!" Princess Sunshine sees a bird silhouette in the tree and concludes that this can only be the work of a wicked sorcerer. She uses her power to try and break through the illusion! ...It doesn't work.

"Um, good job," she praised, "Good work, I was just looking for more of these."Rose's light hazel eyes lit up at those words. They had done Good. That settled it. They must continue to do good for this person whenever they got the chance. "Hi-Jess-hi-Taffy," they yelled back to the girl and pig, waving. Now everyone was playing chase. Rose bounded merrily after the others, with a light stamp and bounce behind Gibi's hushed glide. Rose proudly added their puzzle piece to the lot: they had successfully retrieved it. Another game of chase led them all to a house. It was a very odd house. It seemed to be crawling away from their eyes, lurking among vegetation as if it were coloured in the same blurry patterns that gave animals their natural camouflage, except that the house was very much staying in place. Well, surely the owner of that house would not want to reside in a faulty building! Someone must let them know that it needed mending, quickly. Someone had tried the gate, which seemed to be locked. Rose felt around for a doorbell, found none. They would never leap over the gate except in case of emergency, such as a squirrel. The next best thing was to shout. "Excuse me?" Rose yelled in the general direction of the house. "Are you aware that your house is trying to run away?" Rose searched for any other way to draw the inhabitants' attention. They paced back and forth frantically and leaned against the fence, pressing their face between two pickets. They were suddenly still, narrowed their eyes and clenched their jaw. "Heeey... Excuse me? Are you aware that there is a flamingo messing up your lawn?" Rose followed Gibi and Jess and Taffy and Cassidy and everyone to the house and they are yelling at it to get help from inside the house, and also have identified a new enemy, the flamingo lurking behind the fence!

Seemed like Evi was discussing findings with someone. What was her name… Sherrie, that was it. She was the hairdresser. While Rachel never dyed her hair before, it was hard to not recognize Sherrie and her bright pink hair. Rachel smiled at the two of them. Sherrie made a pause to reminisce. “I’m surprised you don’t remember me,” she said vaguely pointing at her pink hair. “But I suppose you only have eyes for one lady!” She said, smiling at Rachel and giving her a wink.Rachel wrapped her arms around Evi and smiled. “And I only have eyes for one guy.” The puzzle seemed to have led everybody to this house. Rachel didn’t feel right. Everybody was just gathered in front of it. That could be someone’s house. At least… it could be? The weathergirl looked around at the surroundings, just to see if anybody else felt uneasy. From what she gathered, everybody seemed more curious than anything. Honestly, Rachel could not blame them. Everybody was looking around the house, trying to look through the illusion. Sherrie was staring at the fence. Someone mentioned a broken window. Evi saw a gem in the roof itself. Someone else mentioned the tree having eyes - as if today couldn’t get any weirder. “Looks like the ivy around the arch is overgrown, too,” Rachel commented. “It almost seems like it was just left to grow. Think it was abandoned?” Rachel has mixed feelings about being here, but she's a player character and has to roll with it. Sherrie ( Ginz ❤ ) and Evi ( RielCZ ) are chatting and Rachel playfully joins in. So she looks, like everybody else, around and notices the overgrown ivy on the arch. Rachel points this out to Evi and Sherrie, as well as anybody else that's close enough to hear.

Something about the house’s glamour slowly began to feel tremulous somehow, almost as if something solid between the puzzle group and the house had begun to waver and weaken, turning from a wall into a curtain. In response to Rose’s shouting, a very distant-sounding voice found its way to the front of the fence through the glamour: “ For Pete’s sake!” it called. “ There’s no reason to YELL." “ But thanks for letting us know,” added a different voice. -- By the time Ray had returned to the town, a weight had been lifted from his head. Literally, in fact. The lizards that had been curled up in his hair had teleported away. He searched his person frantically, wondering if they had accidentally lost their grip or finally managed to fall off. There was no sign of lizards. Nor were there tiny lizard footprints in the nearby mud. He bought a pair of sunglasses from the corner store and a cup of bad coffee. He reluctantly obliged the staff at the counter with small talk about the weather. Coffee cup in hand, he found a worn stool by the shop window. As he looked out through the glass, he wondered what the townsfolk were going to find out by that old house. The group seemed pretty capable, so he was certain they would be returning with news of some kind. All he could do was wait. He adjusted his tie again. When that citizen scientist-- Mx. Era Newton, he recalled-- had tried to do a magical experiment on it, there were no visible changes. What did happen was that Ray could only blink a few times and smiled politely as he learned first-hand just how peerlessly starstruck Mx. Newton was. He could not bring himself to correct his fan that the lizard was not, in fact, a pet. He was just glad to get his tie back. He smoothed back his hair and continued to look out the store window. He wondered if he should still take a look at terrariums in the pet shop just in case those lizards came back. If the lizard thing was happening in other places, he had to hope they hadn’t sold out. He wondered as well if the lizard on Sherrie’s head had also teleported away. The glamour weakens. (Two answers can be posted at a time now!) Following Liou's shouting, an annoyed voice is audible through the gate followed by a less-annoyed voice. Ray gets back into town. The lizards teleport away, so he drinks some bad coffee at a corner store. He thinks about the puzzle crew, lizards (including Ginz ❤ ’s), and when he loaned Gelquie his tie.

Since Jess did not stop running, Cassidy had no choice but to follow and not lose her or the owl, despite having shouted "Wait!" earlier. Eventually they all got together to piece together the puzzle, which yielded a house with a picket fence. A nice house, in Cassidy's opinion, but otherwise it didn't seem to mean much. Perhaps the colors of the puzzle pieces on their backs might reveal more, in time - hopefully sooner or later, considering that there was a small cloud raining paperclips, and she was not really interested in picking paperclips out of her braid. At least they weren't lizards. Poor Ray. If only the monastery had taught her a spell that would repel the critters. They were useful for cleaning up bugs, but she really doesn't want any popping up on her head. Anyway, she accompanied everyone else to the old house in question. "Too bad I didn't learn how to get rid of glamour illusions at the Golden Quill Monastery," Cassidy muttered. Suddenly, a beam of light arced from a girl's wand toward the tree, and she blinked, her concentration on the house broken as she watched what the light would do. The bird in the tree was supposed to be gone, and yet, it had come back. "What a stubborn illusion," she remarked as she looked from the tree to the girl holding the wand. "Have you broken illusions before?" But before she could say anything more, Cassidy noticed something from the corner of her eye, at the bottom of the tree. No, at the bottom of the picket fence, on the right side. She crouched down at it and stared hard. "Wait a minute," she said. "Is this a fruit-bearing tree? Looks like some fruit fell out of it. Maybe I could take some and see if they have healing properties?" But before she can decide whether or not to pick up a souvenir, the illusion began to change. It felt weaker. And there seemed to be people inside the house. "Hey!" Cassidy called out. "Can we take some of the fruit that fell out of the tree?" While waiting for a reply, she looked at the fence again...and pointed to one of the pickets on the right side, near the tree. "Is anyone else seeing something here? I thought it looked like a mouth with sharp teeth, but after hearing about a gem, I think it looks more like...an upside-down gem." Cassidy tags along with everyone as they solve the puzzle and get to the house depicted in it, and tries not to get paperclips in her hair. She asks Princess Sunshine ( PFA) if she has tried to break an illusion before after the girl's attempt, before some fruit on the ground near the picket fence catches her attention. And she contemplates taking some for healing potions and asks the folks in the house if she can take the fruit before noticing a gem on the picket fence as well.

H-oolong and Purr-erh eventually led their respective groups towards Aggie, and together, they managed to locate every single piece of the puzzle. The Tea Witch also took the time to stay true to her name and treated everyone to tea and cake from her basket. Aggie had not packed enough for everyone but with her magic, that was not a problem. She even humoured Era's strange request for a decorative plate, giving them one of her blue gold-rimmed flower pattern saucers. Goodness knows what that strange person wanted it for but Aggie was used to their eccentricity. H-oolong and Purr-erh had been rewarded appropriately with small cakes that she specially made just for them. Now the two relaxed on her shoulders and in her arms, repsectively. H-oolong was taking a brief nap, taking advantage of the daylight hours, but Purr-erh was lounging and enjoying the absent-minded scratches Aggie was giving her. The puzzle gave them the image of a house, which was recognised as a house that sat on the outskirts of town. Now, at first, to her, it looked like any other house. Looking at it for more than a few seconds, however, she could tell there was some glamour magic on them. Her magic may have been restricted to tea (and she would not have it any other way) but she had been a witch long enough to know magic when she saw it. Beside her, a quiet but familiar voice spoke up. "I, uh...That top left window looks broken to you too, right?"Aggie turned to meet the gaze of Gibi. She always felt so bad for her. The poor dear was always nervous about something. But she was right. "Yes, indeed it does," Aggie nodded. "I doubt it is the only thing that is wrong with this house," she paused. "Gibi, dear, would you like some tea? This all must be very stressful for you. Perhaps some chamomille and rose would hit the spot just right?" In her arms, Purr-erh stirred in response to Rose's shouting. Her back arched. She did not like them. They were too loud, too boisterous, too... dog-like for her liking. She gave them a glare, one she hoped would put them in their place, or at least remind them what a rude creature they were. Aggie scratched behind her ears as she continued to look at the house. Waving a finger caused a teacup to float in front of her lips, from which she took a sip. For focus, to help her see through the glamour. "Oh my, what are those keyholes doing there?" she exclaimed suddenly. "They certainly do not belong within a birch tree, or on top of a roof. H-oolong, darling, would you mind checking that there is no door there?" The owl blinked. He was far better than a mere errand boy but such was the life of a familiar. He flew to the top of the roof and gazed at the pattern on it. Sure enough, it became a keyhole the closer he looked. Era did get their plate, Gelquie. x3 Aggie confirms Gibi's( Twillie) suspicion that the window is broken and offers her tea. Purr-erh is annoyed by Rose( Liou), finding them to be too dog-like and gives them a glare. Aggie, meanwhile, spots two keyholes: one in the tree and one on top of the roof. H-oolong flies up to confirm.

"What a stubborn illusion. Have you broken illusions before?""Well, Illumination Ray reveals the truth," Princess Sunshine replied, "but I guess it doesn't always work." Actually, it seemed like it hardly ever worked, but that was something she didn't really want to admit out loud. Perhaps she was too quick to judge, though, as moments later, something about the illusion seemed to change. It didn't go away, but it felt like it had weakened somehow. And there were voices echoing from... somewhere. Was it Illumination Ray that did it? Or perhaps that dog-like person was onto something by attempting to speak with the homeowners? "Well! Are you also aware that your porch light is broken?" she called out. "And that your porch also has cobwebs?!" Princess Sunshine tells Cassidy ( Kat) that Illumination Ray reveals the truth, but that it doesn't always work. Then, following Rose's ( Liou) lead, she informs the homeowners ( Pixie, Lizica) of two problems with their porch—the light is broken, and there are cobwebs.

Staring at a maybe possibly broken fence post was incredibly dull. As she heard other townspeople point out other illusions around the house, Sherrie's thoughts started to wander. For some reason, she started thinking of names for her new lizard accessory/companion. Blossom could be cute! Sherrie and Blossom, like cherry blossom! She wondered if her color magic would work on scales. If so, she could color-coordinate her outfits. Oh, it'd be so fun! Sherrie was so lost in thought thinking of outfit ideas, she almost didn't notice her head suddenly felt a little lighter. She felt around the top of her head, gingerly brushing her fingers through her hair. A few specks of leftover glitter covered her hand, but there seemed to be nothing else. Her lizard had vanished. "Oh no! Blossom? Where did you go, little buddy?" she called, looking around nearby, trying to find the small reptile. It couldn't have gone far, could it? Perhaps it went towards the house? Maybe it had climbed up the porch stairs, which she hadn't noticed were so worn, by the way... or were they? They looked tattered one second and in perfect condition the next. Ah, another illusion! "There seems to be some glamour magic on the porch steps too," she said outloud so anyone nearby could hear her. "And... there's my lizard, on the column next to the tree!" she exclaimed. "How did it get there so fast? I could have sworn it was on my head a few seconds ago." But that lizard seemed to come and go whenever she blinked, too. "Oh. Nevermind. I don't think that's Blossom afterall," she said, a little dejected. Sherrie gets lots in thought and decided to name her head lizard Blossom, so their names together sound like cherry blossom. Unfortunately for her, Blossom suddenly vanishes as quickly and mysteriously as it appeared! Searching for her new companion, Sherrie spots a couple more illusions: the worn porch stairs, and a lizard on the farthest right column next to the tree. She believes the lizard to be Blossom at first, but sadly figures out it's not.

Gibi couldn't help but perk up at the Witch's offer for tea, slightly taken aback by her hospitality. Not that she wouldn't expect it from another, but it always surprised her how naturally it came for some to care for others. Touched by the offer, Gibi accepted the prospect of some tea. It was never something she'd turn her nose to anyway; tea always had a way to warm her up. As she took a first sip of the conjured tea, Gibi stole another glance towards the house, doing a double take as she noticed something odd. "Is there... something in that middle window?" she wondered aloud, "In the bottom right corner, I swear something keeps popping up there. That isn't a... person, is it?" As she stared at the window, her eyes slowly wandered upwards, landing on the top window as she added, "And the one above it! That highest window, there's a big gem in it!" Gibi gratefully accepts Aggie's ( Celestial) offer of tea, and as she drinks, she notices another difference along with a gem. The middlemost window of the house seems to have some dark object lurking in its bottom right corner, and the top most window has a large gem filling its middle pane.

“ Please help yourself to some fruit, if you like!” one of the distant voices called back to Cassidy. “ You can take some of the golf balls, too, while you’re at it,” added the other voice. “ We don’t really need them.” Next, Princess Sunshine followed Rose’s lead and started shouting over to them, too, pointing out the bad porch light and the cobwebs. “ Hey now, that spider lives here, too!” came the annoyed reply. “ She's not a bug, she's a feature!” “And we know the light is out. You got a spare bulb on you, or you're just here to kvetch about it?” The voices clear Kat to take some fruit and golf balls, but are annoyed about PFA pointing out the webs and broken light.
