Five days until session eleven! Will this meeting go as planned? I dunno, the dice-gods are fickle beings.
Will Meallan's firbolg-nature remain secret from society at large? Will Basil share his ill-gotten gains? Will Anthony break free of the gaze of his strange followers? Will Athenos find 'the creature possessed by a fey spirit'? Will Amani be free of Talvi? Does Khamet understand any of what Anthony and Tenacity were talking about? Can Tally succeed in her quest to get Crezonis de-Arcaito'd AND reunite with her drow bae?
Time will tell!

Spider Climb. The Spider Demon can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Web Walker The Spider Demon ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing.
Damage Resistances cold; bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing from nonmagical attacks that aren't silvered
Damage Immunities fire, poison.
Actions
Multiattack. The Spider Demon can make three attacks with its longsword. It can replace one of those attacks with a claw attack with its talons.
Talons. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 2d8 + 4 slashing damage.
Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, range 150/600 ft., one target. Hit: 1d8 + 4 slashing damage plus 1d8 fire damage as the blade bursts into flame on a hit. On a miss, describe flames licking at the blade anyway.
Stunning Screech (1/Day). The Spider Demon emits a horrific screech. Each creature within 20 feet of it that can hear it and that isn't a demon must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of the Spider Demon’s next turn.
Hurl Flame. Ranged Spell Attack (CHA): +7 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 4d6 fire damage.
Reactions
Hellish rebuke- once per long rest, as a reaction in response to taking damage from a creature the Spider Demon can see. It points a chitinous talon, and the creature that damaged it is momentarily surrounded by hellish flames. The creature must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw. It takes 3d10 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. *normally associated with devils, yeah. I think of devils and demons as more similar in this 'verse, rather than warring factions. It's like a human knowing Elvish! |

WHAT??? how did we kill spider-man The high stealth was to help it hide inside the pit (although if it had run into the forest and kinda just....scuttled around, hard to see but you can just hear it there...that would have been TERRIFYING.) It's a second level 'Hellish Rebuke'. This is what I meant when I said it wasn't actually a bad idea for Celes to try burning its reactions! xP |

During the fight, I really thought we'd have to run away and/or get help (or send someone to get help), because yeah, that was really tough! And that reaction, wow. Good job everyone, though, on bringing him down. ^^ (Also, someone please tell Amani that they're not useless for not doing well in a fight waaay above their level. That's what friends are for, Amani!) Anyway, I posted this in the EuroAtlantis chat as a joke, and was encouraged to post it here: Diary of a demon: "My keys back to my home plane that I lent my friend were stolen after some jerk beat him up! So I was gonna beat up that jerk and his friends so I could get my keys back. I mean, my demon-cat is waiting for me, I got some infernal stew to get back to, finally some rest after a long day of soul rending. But then I thought, maybe I could just ask for my keys back, forget all the trouble. But that jerk said it was his now?? Um, what?? So I fought for it, but no matter what I did, he wasn't giving me back my keys! And then they killed me for it! Seriously, what the hell?!" |

Holy moly, no wonder that was such a tough fight! It really could have killed us. We did good to bring it down (yes, even Amani. Meallan will say that much to them...if he did not already).
I can see what you're saying about the reactions there. Hellish rebuke is nasty. I'm glad I did what I did in that case. XD Using mirror image for that is a good tactic, I'm keeping it in reference.

Session 11: a lighthearted recap
*Lu'hais agrees not to kill Crezonis. One of the guards present is unimpressed with her ruling, but thankfully Khamet (?) is able to convince them not to get themself killed by attacking.
*Lu'hais agrees to pass a message from Tally to her bae, and lets Tally know that Yzzy has been super useful in her absence, preventing Anzi from embarking upon more Foolish Nonsense.
*The party go to Dyventain! Some of the party talk with Rauliso. The others explore the halls.
*Frantic Student appears! Our bold adventurers are unable to get their attention. Athenos bounds after them on all fours.
*There's a spooky void in the ground which has started whispering to the student and some of their colleagues. They implore the party to investigate, but first...the party want to upgrade their equipment.
*"Oh okay, I'll just get some of the guards then..." "Okay FINE we'll do it NOW."
*Tally stays behind because the party did kinda sorta promise Lu'hais they would take responsibility for their sometimes-murderous captive.
*Basil ends up riding on the back of a demonic spider beast.
*Khamet is felled by aforementioned demonic spider beast, but saved thanks to Anthony's quick thinking!
*"Athenos thinks you should move away from the pit..."
*Meallan speaks to the spider. It has no time for silly humanoids, it has a key to reclaim!
*The spider is thoroughly smitten. Hooray!

Nasinrel- NPC guard captain.

Our next session, session 12, is one week from today! Is that spider leg Basil ran off with actually edible? Will Thorn's faith that since this is a Party Hostel, her dorm will be empty and she can DM from there, actually hold true? Time will tell!
