Ugh, today's game was awful. Even worse then Zurroball.

TI-freaking-L that there are codes in Caves and Corridors. I don't know whether to be annoyed that I never knew this or proud of myself for earning a silver trophy without them.
gimmeabreak gives you an extra life (or 2 or 3 or 8 bajillion, it's kinda glitchy) freetime stops the timer. I never used it so I dunno if it affects your time bonus. If it does, I'd recommend using it at the start of a level you need a gold/silver on in order to move on. nomorerocks prevents boulders from appearing. again, I never used it so I don't know if it just stops new ones from spawning or if it deletes the current ones as well, so I'd recommend not using it on levels like Mysterious Jungle where the only boulder stays in the same area all level

Jae My strategy is to utilize the freetime bonus at Level 10 (it does affect your time bonus), and the nomorerocks cheat at the final level if I get lucky enough not to have to use it at Level 9 (there's a very small chance in Level 9 that the rock at the top-right part of the level won't fall down to the area where you don't have to walk, making the level quicker and giving you a greater bonus). Also, I think I've noticed that the gimmeabreak cheat glitches out if you type it in after already having gotten a game over without refreshing the page, though I could be wrong. Anyways, Caves and Corridors...for as frustrating as it is and as finicky and almost random as its controls feel, I don't think I've ever devoted more time towards a Neopets game, if only for the purpose of the high score table and not unironic enjoyment.

Caves and corridors has my honors of being the worst game of the Daily dare, except for maybe lost city lanes.
the controls are CLUNKY. think of it as like donkey kong Jr, except a lot worse.

Huh, I wonder why my high score is 212 in this game. *promptly gets stuck on level 2 with a bronze with a score of 212* Oh, that's why.
I hate this game with a passion, but I am not about to give up my AAA streak now.

I'm already going for silver anyways, so playing on Abi or AAA will not hurt my chances. Still went with Abi.

Yeah, I definitely just went with Abi for this one, even though it's a double dare.

Okay, I don't need the pretty map book. It's okay. It's totally okay. (T-T) I can't do this anymore, lol. It's already an accomplishment to upgrade my previous bronze to silver on the second level, and then to successfully make it through the third. That's enough for me. Yep. ETA: Also, I love how the game has a comic to read!

AAA's score in Volcano Run 2 is actually doable for me, but I keep on holding the button for a bit too long, so I end up dying.

vc2 is flappy bird, but easier.

I honestly thought today's score was going to be higher, actually. I'm not complaining, but my guess was around 700 or something.
Anyway, I got over 500 on my first try. And so, I have beaten all of AAA's scores. \o/

Callout post for Jake the Explorer of Caves and Corridors: Jake may be a Kougra and call himself an explorer, but he is really terrible at jumping. He also doesn't realise when there's solid ground under his feet, ignores its existence and slips right through it. (See: jumping between the lowest platforms of level 3.)
Jake will also suddenly lose his ability to jump twice his own height at the mere sight of a rock on his platform. Jumping across water, over statues, suuure. Over a lump of spinning mineral? Never.
Also, do vines remind Jake of his mummy or something? Because he clings to them so, so hard.
(Eh, I'm still on an AAA streak. The VR2 score wasn't too bad.)

Agree.
I understand that TNT were making many of these games using much more primitive software during a very different era, but at the same time: I've got abandoned, barely-started gamejam entries hiding on my hard drive that have better collision detection than C&C.

I'm genuinely wondering how exactly they selected the DD games. Score selection is a separate matter and probably involves complicated calculations about averages - eh, what am I saying, someone prolly pinned 'em down in five minutes using the age-old "this looks about right" method much the same way I restock my shop. But someone had to actually choose those twenty games out of the big batch we have on site. A lot of them were pretty straightforward newer games that allow for a nice range of player competence, some were more luck-based (ahem-hasee-bounce-ahem) and some got dug up from the forgotten tar pit of old content that won't mesh with the progress of technology no matter how much you bang it with a rock hammer (zurrobaaaall, and now also Caves and Corridors. Wait, why Corridors? I'm guessing the later levels look more corridor-y? Wouldn't know, I've never gotten past level 3 xD)
So did they try to go for a range of worlds, game types and release years? Tasked it to some poor overworked peon who just chose whatever games they personally like best? Pulled everything out of a hat?
(Pulling games out of a hat might actually be a pretty nifty way to set up a DD event, because this way you'd get games that just about everyone might otherwise overlook. Except then we also get the occasional tar pit.)
