I'll start off with I am a terrible artist. I have only had training in Technical Drawing as part of high school and university education in engineering, so I'm alright at drawing objects, buildings, and vehicles. However I am abysmal at everything else. That being said I'm trying to work on a comic (uh oh) so I need to get practice at some point. So I'm just throwing down my sketches that I do after a long day of bar work. Comments and criticism much appreciated as I'm trying to be less garbage at doing this. Have some initial stuff! (I'm also trying to figure out how to get my scanner to work properly so a lot of these probably are filled with artifacts from converting them from file format to file format) "Zeus" the Electrode. Pencil and ink "Macbeth" the Ghastly. Pencil and ink (this one was the hardest to do because I did this sketch sitting outside when it was 2 oC and I could barely feel my fingers) "Prometheus" the Cyndaquil. Ink So yeah, uh, enjoy, I guess?

I had the day off work today and worked on this, it's an enlarged version of one of the frames in the comic in the same style, I wanted to practice drawing landscapes. I'm still trying to figure out this scanner, too. "New Bark Town" Pencil and ink

I picked up one of those wooden mannequin things so I could try and improve my skill at drawing humans (because it is seriously heinous right now). I also discovered a handy (get the pun?) way of working around the immense difficulty of drawing hands: put them in some pockets. "Reuben Jones" Pencil and ink

So I bought some colored pencils, with the intention of eventually doing my comic in color. I've never really worked with these, always just did things in greyscale with different graphite shades. I also tried doing the first two from memory, while using a reference for the Totodile. "Prometheus" Color pencil and ink "Macbeth" Color pencil and ink Totodile. Color pencil and ink. With this one I tried to emulate the shading from the reference, I mostly don't try to shade since I've not got a good grasp of lighting, but hey, better start practicing.

Done a few more practice sketches this week. I've been working a lot on the actual pages themselves and things are coming along! (I'm also surprised at my ability to keep to a schedule, shocking) "Zeus and Morgan" Color pencil and ink. I drew Zeus from memory but Morgan from a reference "Signs and logos" Color pencil and ink. Wanted to test some road signs and logos that would eventually appear in the comic. The Johto Postal Service one is a shameless ripoff of the US Postal Service logo, but with a Ho-oh replacing the eagle.

Haven't been doing many sketches this week, mostly just working on actual material and wrapping up the first chapter of my work. I've been doing a lot of storyboards for the next chapter (9 pages of A3, my wrist was killing me!) and also started working on some group sketches of the team as the run goes on. Here's one of them. The Team (Page 6). Color pencil and ink I'm really enjoying working with color pencils so far, but I've got to start practicing with shading so I can make the perspective look nicer. I've got 5 more of these to do for the chapter, one every two pages roughly. Have I gone insane? Probably.

Did a full page Easter special while I was waiting in the purgatory of passport related paperwork. Tried to add some elements of shading in this one, since I've never really tried it before. Happy Easter! Color pencil and ink

I have more things for you. A new issue this week means I need another team group shot, with a new addition. The Team (Page 7) - Color pencil and ink I liked doing the over the shoulder pose with Prometheus and wanted to try out something new, plus I picked up a set of watercolor tubes from the art supply store, so I did this: Prometheus - Watercolor and ink I've never tried watercolors before, but I love how vibrant the colors are! Although I can't use it for the comic as it would take far too long, I can maybe use it for team pictures or special pages in the future.

Another new group shot this week, this one adds Aleksander, the Russian speaking Caterpie. This is the last one I need to do for a couple of weeks. I added dialogue to this one too to try and capture everyone's personalities a little better. The Team - Page 8 (Color pencil and ink)

New group shot to follow the plot, with a difference this time, as I used watercolors instead of pencils for this one. (I also sat outside to do the line art since it was a nice 22 C today!) The Team (Page 10) - Watercolors and ink

Long time, no update! Here are some things I worked on the past month. I've already shown them briefly in the discord chat, but here you go. The Team (Page 12) - Watercolor and ink, this one adds Macbeth to the party. Prometheus sketches - Pencil and ink, some test sketches of Prometheus as a Quilava before I do the page about his evolution. Honestly, it's going to be way more easier to give him facial expressions now that he has, yknow, eyes. Bellsprout Tower Monk - Pencil and ink, this one also doubled as a character sketch for the D&D campaign I play with my housemates.

Heyo! I'm currently on vacation and haven't been really to keep up my update schedule. So I did this placeholder drawing aboard the MS Viking XPRS to and from Helsinki, Finland. It's Prometheus, also on vacation. Prometheus on vacation, colour pencil and ink

It's trash collection day in my city, so I thought "perfect timing! Have some of mine from the past month!" "The Gang" Pencil. Done during a particular boring society meeting on campus. "Cave Scene" Pencil and Ink, from Page 19. I really enjoy drawing stuff underground "Slowpoke Well" Pencil and Ink, from Page 19. Not as much as I like drawing sunsets. "Azalea Town" Pencil and Ink, from page 18 this is a wide one so I just put the link here instead. Same as what I said about the above, sunsets are awesome to draw, especially in landscapes. This frame alone took most of the time for the page, but I like it a lot and am using it for a banner. I also did a bunch of ink stuff over in the Inktober thread if you can stomach it

I had to work on a new team lineup, so I did it in watercolor as usual, although this time I actually used watercolor paper, which was a lot better than the paper I use for pencil and ink sketches. Although I seriously messed up the second half of the image, I used the wrong side of the paper, although it turned out well still I think. "The Team - Page 21" Watercolor and Ink (composite of 2 sheets)

Hey folks I have one last batch of drawings for you this year and looking back it's pretty crazy how much my style's changed since I fired up this thread. From greyscale picture to now digital! I received a Wacom Intous Pro for Christmas, so I'll now be learning how to use this too! Here's a few traditional drawings I've done recently: "Odysseus poker night" - Pencil and ink, a drawing a did for fun after my roommates went through a spree of losing their petty cash to me at hold 'em, heh heh i.imgur.com/Ol0Eb94.png "Earthrise" - Watercolor, this is a watercolor I did for my father for Christmas, who is a former NASA researcher. This Christmas was also the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 8 mission in which the photograph was taken. "INTERNET!" - Ink, okay, when Pokemon Let's Go was coming out, I harbored a hope that you could ride a Porygon in the game, and I hoped it was like this. (It turned out you couldn't ride a Porygon, oh well) "Evard Munch's Scream" - this is a page from a coloring book I bought at the Pokemon Center in Japan, all the pages are famous paintings. This one was my favourite. Eventually I'd like to get a projector, a large canvas, steal my roommates' oil paints, and do a large tastefully done version. "Prometheus" - Digital, my first attempt using the tablet! I used the head of Prometheus from the poker night picture, and used simple brushes to do the coloring. "Prometheus" - Digital, a full drawing, initially done in pencil and ink, then scanned and completed digitally. I'm still getting used to using things like Photoshop, but it definitely gives me a lot of room to grow and get some better practice. Overall, I'm having a lot of fun producing digitally! The only problem is my laptop doesn't have a whole lot of RAM, so I can't work on big images (I had to resize this one to make it small enough), I'll have to use my tower rig than taking it having it portable, whereas I could always take some pencils, pens, and a sketchpad somewhere. Still, I think the tablet is great! i.imgur.com/qfScjgk.pngRecently I also built a few models, since my roommate gave me some for Christmas "BBY-1 'Yamato'" - Space Battleship Yamato 2199, given to me by my roommate quite a small model, needed tweezers and a magnifying glass for mounting some of the anti aircraft cannons. This was the first model I'd built in several years, I used to make model aircraft all the time (my favorite being a 1 metre long model of the Graf Zeppelin) i.imgur.com/5oCP2VD.jpg"RX-78-2 Gundam" - 1/144 scale HG Gunpla kit (Mobile Suit Gundam), my roommate gave me this one also, and this is the first gunpla I've ever assembled. It was fun to put together (and took much less time compared to a regular model kit because it doesn't require glue or painting) "OZ-06MS Leo" - 1/144 scale HG Gunpla kit (Gundam Wing), I liked doing that last one so I went out and bought this one too.
