I fought the snapjaw a few times, about five. My achievement line went to 40% but then a few minutes later it is back down to nothing again. I think they might be working on fixing a glitch. I want to keep fighting and I don't want to miss doing an achievement if it just HAS to be done today. If it is messed up they should give us some more time to play because it isn't fair if we can't do it because of a glitch. I am going to quit until the fix the infinate items glitch, unless they officially post something or say we can fight to our hearts content. I imagine a lot of people could get frozen for abusing this. People are getting lots of codestones and items from this.

no. comic. what. why. also, some dialogue: Fyora: Aethia, is your army ready? Aethia: All arrangements have been made. I will be taking your leave now, my queen. The enchanted map over there should help you observe our movements and guide us when needed. Fyora: I will do that. Taelia, how is your research coming along? Taelia: It's slow, but I'm making progress. I need something new to make these potions truly effective. I hope I can find something soon. Fyora: Oh, Kaia's gone into a trance! We need to be on the lookout for this, and try to make sense of whatever she's murmuring. Aethia: I've never seen anything like this before!
edit: oh, wonderful! a bug! when I started the lockpicking game, it transferred me out and now I can't even open the game again. more things! It appears the different difficulties of the wraith give you more or less progression toward your goal. So if your battle pet is a weakly weakling, you'll have to battle more.
(Note: easy mode gives 5% progression and medium gives 10% progression.) edit2: more plot things list of kaia's notes: NOTE 1: We must weigh the odds to avoid making any rash decisions. Some memories (like festivals), are worth reexperiencing. It is indeed a Golden Ivy Leaf. I verified it against the description in my textbook. NOTE 2: The profession of a rose vendor must be really pleasant A click sound? It worked! Some memories (like festivals), are worth reexperiencing. NOTE 3: We aren't the colossi Xandra accused us of being. We must weigh the odds to avoid making any rash decisions. The war is currently an inevitable part of every Neopian's life. NOTE 4: We must weigh the odds to avoid making any rash decisions. Facing an opponent head on in the Battledome takes a lot of courage. Oh, that wonderful feeling that you get when you use your skills for the good of the world!

Okay plots are all well and good but I don't think putting an obtrusive laggy popup on every page while I'm trying to do my dailies is the correct way to do a plot :T
(no comment on the actual plot stuff because I haven't done any of it but) (the popups are very annoying)

Hey everyone, I just got a warning for this post, where I simply asked if there is a glitch with the battledome and asked the staff to address it. So even just suggesting something is glitched, or using the word glitch or suggesting that those who are still battling now are abusing a glitch, will get you a warning. This is the first warning I have had in a long time and I don't think it is fair, but I thought I would give everyone a heads up, not to continue talking about this subject.

Re: Plot step... I got a prize but not the achievement for the Chest step...I got a lot of misses, so I understand that's probably why I didn't unlock the achievement, but I really hope we get a second chance at doing this step...Right now it seems like that's not possible, since every time I try to go back to the lockpicking page, it just redirects me back to HQ. T-T
I sent a question to Scrappy via the Editorial about it (is neomailing her better? Either way, I bet she gets a lot of messages between the two).
Edit: YES! They fixed it! You can keep trying until you get the achievement! ^^ Edit about the NC Mall: And what happened to that Wraith Resurgence Chest item from the NC Mall that was leaked a while ago??? I was really looking forward to adding that to my TFR gallery, but there are now different chests instead? D: Hmm, maybe those will come later on...? There should be more wraiths popping up down the line, I'm sure. Perhaps the plot will go in phases and there will be a new NC thing with each phase? I just really want that chest, lol.

The new dialogue says that these wraiths are actually pets under a curse but that battling them weakens them enough so that some of their true form will be revealed. I did figure the wraiths were to be pitied a bit. They are under a curse, then.

More dialogue (why yes, I am awake at 3am. Why? Because biochemistry, that's why.)
FYORA: I expect you to take charge there, Aethia. Taelia, I want you to start working on potions that you think might come in handy in the days to come. With the wraith moving around in the land, I fear we might need help in replenishing the life force of affected beings FYORA: You say it turned into a Neopet?! AETHIA: I couldn't believe my eyes either, Fyora, but it looked like they were pets cursed to become wraith...or whatever that poor thing is now. FYORA: That certainly explains how they got past the barrier spell! But we need to figure out how to lift the curse and cure them. Taelia, do you think you can concoct a potion that would heal them? TAELIA: There's no way we can approach them while they're wraith. Defeating them in battle seems to weaken the curse considerably-enough to reveal their true form, but not quite restore them to their former selves. FYORA: If you can weaken them and bring them to me, I'm quite sure I can put together a potion that will heal them. AETHIA: Is there no way to do this without hurting the pets? FYORA: If I can find out what the source of this dark magic is, I should be able to reverse its effects. FYORA: We can try talking to the pets once they've recovered. They might be able to shed more light on this.

I hope people who didn't log in on Friday when the plot launched can still see the first conversation...Considering how the other dialogues worked previously, I doubt it, but I feel that's rather quick to change it up in that case. Not even a full day...I know people are posting it everywhere, but still. (Though it is exciting for the rest of us, haha.) Huh. Well, that's pretty intriguing and unexpected. Didn't think it'd be a Neopet-turned-wraith...

Of course they released this on the day USUM was released... A LOT is going, so I'm going to wait till step 2 to start giving out opinions as I do think JS has some bugs to work out. Though right now I would like to complain about one thing: WHAT WAS JS THINKING WITH THE POISONOUS SPEAR WAND?! A Hidden Tower-level weapon as a freebie?! Do they want to completely destroy the weapon economy! I made a thread asking JS to downgrade it: www.neopets.com/neoboards/topic.phtml?topic=159075952. Thinking about it, probably should have added a please.

I don't mind a strong weapon freebie. I'm not much of a battledomer personally, my strongest weapon before this was the ridiculously heavy battle hammer. XD I wouldn't be crying if it got a nerf, but I'm happy to take advantage of this while it lasts.
On a semi-related note I'm actually pretty happy the plot has more than just a war going for it (being just a war kept me from much participation in the Obelisk plot). It's glitchy yeah, but I wager TNT will get that fixed. But Pifa, what popup are you seeing, because I don't and haven't seen one. O __ o

Okay. Not really plot related. Just battle related. I checked my inventory and I apparntly have a lot more bottled faeries than I thought. So my next question is which level 25 and 50 (I'm SO close to 50) abilities should I choose? An Icicle and Lens Flare, respectively. An Icicle does the most overall icons per round of the level 25 abilities, and Lens Flare is one of the best abilities period since it pretty much gives you a free shot once per battle.

Double posting with some hypotheses. It's probably way too soon to infer anything at this point, but what are Neopets plots for if not wild unfounded speculation?
First of all, assuming the plot will progress with more waves of opponents released at intervals, it looks like the difficult might escalate pretty quickly. Snapjaw Wraith's difficulty on Easy (35) is on par with the second wave of Obelisk War challengers, but its Medium and Hard (175 and 224) are between the third and fourth wave Obelisk challengers. So in a few more challengers we might already start getting opponents on par with the Faction Leaders. At least on Medium and Hard, anyway. The large difficulty jump between Easy and Medium may indicate TNT is trying to keep the battling accessible to as much of the playerbase as possible while still offering a challenge for higher-level battlers, in which case good on them.
Second, it kind of looks like prize-wise, this plot will be organized more like DD or GMC than traditional plots. We're already getting items for achieving different parts of the plot, so I wonder if at the end we'll have set prize baskets based on how much people did, rather than a point-based prize shop.

I'm curious what they're going to do with the plot element that these wraiths are cursed neopets. That has a lot of potential to go in some interesting directions. The original Faerie's Ruin plot never really explained the backstory of the wraiths, where they come from, how they're created, etc. I'm excited by the prospect of this sequel not only tying a ribbon on the "Faerieland wants to go back into the sky, will they / won't they" dangling plot thread, but also elaborating on some elements of the original that went unexplained.

We're already getting items for achieving different parts of the plot, so I wonder if at the end we'll have set prize baskets based on how much people did, rather than a point-based prize shop. Since you mentioned the Obelisk War, I just thought I'd point out that the achievement system was how that was set up as well. There were achievements for certain milestones and you did get prizes for them, although they were existing site items. TFR also had Fearless Deeds (achievements under a cute name) although they didn't give out prizes. That might have been where JS got the idea. Perhaps they created new items for the achievements to kind of differentiate this plot from the War of the Obelisk event (which also had existing items like PBs in the prize shop)? People have been complaining about item quality in this last month in particular, so it might be that they were having the item artists focus on the plot prizes while the regular releases were done at the last minute? Also: Good news, everyone! I battled the Snapjaw Wraith today for my daily BD stuff because of course I did - the Obelisk war gave extra prize points for going over 100% on each step so this might as well and look what I got: * You have reached the item limit for today! You can continue to fight, but no more items can be earned. That glitch appears to be fixed, at least on my end!
