There's been reports elsewhere that certain accounts got this message indicating they may be at risk. Mind elaborating? Jellyneo has an account of it on their main page. It's no secret that various accounts over the last year or so have been hijacked, resulting in the Captcha you get now when looking up pets and other accounts. I myself have been notified September by an outside agency that checks for such things that Neopets may have had their databases compromised to include email and passwords, although in a response to a support ticket submitted, I was told there was no compromise. I guess it's up to each person to determine what's going on and how much risk there is to their account, but as for the TNT Neomail, that has been verified across other sites.

So why hide this fact from us? Is it because they don't want people to panic? A database breach sounds like it could affect everyone so why not own up to it and reset every password? Eventually the cat's going to be let out of the bag. Look at Yahoo, they got hacked three times.
I understand it has to be a carefully crafted statement. I've received these types of statements from Adobe, LinkedIn, and Yahoo informing me my account was compromised and my logins were reset for me. In the long run, it hasn't really hurt them much.
