When I'm not comic'ing, I also draw art sometimes... that's usually related to my comics in some way. You can find them all on my Deviant Art Page, scarletscribbles, but I'm also gonna share some here too, for fun. I have a huge backlog, so the formula for now is gonna be one new art and one old art per post. Let's get started!

You might recall Mathew Cavus from my Ink series. Well, he's a fun enough character that I've created art just for him. This one won the Beauty Contest in the Kyrii category just this month. I entered the same week as some of my other writer friends, and it made it a much better experience. And this one is from almost a year ago, for Kyrii day. It didn't make the Art Gallery.

Let's talk about Cleopatra Kish now. She's my Journalist Grey Aisha, Cleopatra275. She's appeared in both Ink and Dinner with the Scarlets, and in general she's a fun character to both write and draw. From July 2013, this was Cleo first design. Not having the eyes lasted like one comic before I gave up and just gave an Aisha proper eyes. It was just not working for good expressions. Cleo's most current proper portrait, from June 2015 And finally, from a couple of days ago, Cleo as a human and dressed up as Lady Layton from an upcoming video game. For no other reason than I thought she would look really good in the outfit. It seems like I'm starting to slowly fall into the trap of making my art bigger and bigger because it breaks my heart a little to lose those details I spent time on. At a certain point, though, the art gets so big you can't even see it without zooming out on your screen. Hopefully I won't reach that point, though.

Oh, not all comics I make are in the Times, you know. This one from January 2014 was a third place winner in the Random Contest, so it wasn't even published on the site. It isn't much of a comic, though. I was trying to emulate the styles of the faction videos from the War of the Obelisk, which I absolutely loved. Such high anticipation from those videos. It came out of nowhere. A pillar of light in Tyrannia, A rock formation revealed by earthquakes. We were told to dig it up, And dig it up we did. We discovered an Obelisk, But what was in store? And this is a comic from May 25th, 2016, celebrating the One-Year Anniversary of my Wacom Drawing Tablet. Sometimes when you get an idea, you just roll with it, even if it's not the most common things to do.

Twillie 's Zathandria, staring at her mysterious Cherry Blossom Bonsai, in the dark privacy of her closet. Or at least how I'd image it'd be like after reading Blossoms~ Snowball Effect Part 2. Not quite my usual style, but it felt more fitting for the piece. And from July 2014, Kurenai 's Mrikuni_Whitesand. Before she came here, I was friends with her from The Plotters. She described this warrior outfit that she wears, full of sashes and ribbons and flair that distracts the enemy and causes them to attack bits of fabric over the actual person. The way she described it created such a picture in my head I had to illustrate it.

Oh wow, June, that's so good! I especially like the surrounding haze around her as it gives the sense that she's in a large space, but with little in it. It really accentuates the loner feel of it all :3 Also, the lack of thick, apparent lines gives greater emphasis to the shading and the light/dark contrast.
Thank you so much, this was unexpected!

I took an illustration class this past spring, and I've got some fun art from that, so much that I haven't even posted it all online yet. One of my favorites, though, is "16 Variations on a Guinea Pig" They're 16 different Guinea Pigs drawn with 16 different inking techniques. We had to draw 5 variations on something using different inking techniques, but I kept going because I was really enjoying the assignment. I drew them each on their own little piece of paper, but gathered them up all into one for posting. (I know Carolyn in particular has been looking forward to seeing this one) "World's Longest Scarf" was fun too, partly because of the research involved. Meet Helge Johansen of Norway, who for the past 30 years, has been knitting the world's longest scarf... and not much else. But hey, it's 14,978 feet 6.16 inches long, so that's pretty impressive. He keeps it rolled up in huge balls of scarf, spiral pinwheels of scarf, and smaller balls of scarf too. He by far has won and deserves the record, but continues to knit his lifelong project because it's such an ingrained part of his life by now. In one interview, he said he might as well have started smoking, because he spends as much on yarn as he would have doing other habits Not a character, but a real person, as you can see on the Guinness World Records website. Part of an illustration class assignment to illustrate a world record.

Ahhhh! I love the guinea pigs! Ghost piggie, second row left and third row front view are my favorites. Pigs are great, aren't they? So much personality. The man with the scarf is fantastic, too. So... was this his hobby that became somewhat of an obsession? It's certainly an impressive feat.

Beatrice Bizelli, Journalist of Hero CityBeatrice Bizelli is a journalist who covers the Hero City Game show. She prefers the hard-hitting news side of it to the celebrity gossip. -Drinks milky coffee -Has a scar on her scalp from one time she was clipped in the head by a television camera while she was in a crowd of reporters. No regrets. Connections (Just so I can keep track of all this, okay): -Is found to be an annoying busy body by William "Bill" Sinclair, who runs the show. ( Shinko ) (Round 0) -Dislikes the MASK Media Network because it's stealing away her audience. However, she might find herself working with them in some capacity anyway. ( icon ) (Round 0) -Is a fan of popstar The Queen. ( Twillie ) (Round 0) -Tabitha Kingsley knows better than to spill secrets to Bizelli ( Celestial ) (Round 0) -Is disliked by Dimitri the security guard ( June Scarlet ) (Round 1) -Salamandy thinks she's one of the best reporters in Heraclia. At least someone does! ( Rabbit ♠ ) (Round 1) -Fireflyman knows Beatrice exists ( Moni ) (Round 1) -Beatrice lied about Nyx Nightshadow being at the premier as a distraction ( Thorn ) (Round 1) -Is friends with her coworker, James the Photojournalist ( June Scarlet ) (Round 2) -Has a coupon for Gyro City she should use later on ( Coaster ) (Round 2) -Beatrice met Wax, founder of MASK Media Network. Unwittingly insults him by calling it a "podcast thing." Let's be honest, it's because she's jealous of his success. ( icon ) (Round 2) To do in Round 1: Interview The Scrac that Smiles Back and Sporty and anyone else who shows up. Not going to have the chance this round. Interview Rabbit ♠ and pixie To do in Round 2: Stand outside the show HQ and see if she sees anything cool. Converse with Wax, leader of MASK. icon Ask questions at the press conference thing. So for the 2016 Warm Fuzzies, I ended up drawing art for everyone participating. So I’ll go ahead and share what I did, in sets of four to keep the post sizes manageable. I also posted all of these on my Deviant Art account, and it's sort of fun to explain these characters to my friends who aren't in the know. Mostly Harmless (flufflepuff) Mizshu, at the start of the Hero City Season, when she was still just a small, nervous little girl, unsure what she was even doing here. Reference: ntwriters.proboards.com/post/2685788***** Celestial Tabitha, a prim and proper superhero, who always has a trick up her sleeve, or a special dart in her hatpin. Reference: ntwriters.proboards.com/post/2683996 ntwriters.proboards.com/post/2684188 ***** Shinko Bill Sinclair, the stern CEO of the Hero City Network. He has the very tough job of keeping all the heroes in line. Reference: ntwriters.proboards.com/post/2684096***** Gelquie Dr. Epsin is a brilliant scientist, but turned to a life of villainy when his life took a bad turn. Since I couldn't find an exact description of him, I instead illustrated a scene of him working at his duel monitors, trying to hack into an encrypted flashdrive while also watching the latest news online. I'm so glad you're doing this, June, and I kinda can't wait until you post mine, cos I really love it! (She's possibly the only character in that story that I didn't really have a strong visual for, but you captured her and her personality so well that I think that'll be what she looks like forevermore in my mind!) I think your pictures are a really nice way of doing fuzzies, because it not only shows that you care enough to put all that effort into drawing the pictures - you also put in a lot of work to read and appreciate our writing and reflect that enjoyment in your own art! I think what I'm trying to say is, these are definitely good for that warm, fuzzy feeling! (Also I really like that picture of Espin! It's a style I don't see as commonly from you but it looks exceptionally effective, especially for the content of that picture!)

And here's the next set of four. Tiger The leader of the villains is not a human, but a super-powered cat. Normally a fluffy white cat, when Iskender wants to join the action, he disguises himself as his alterego, Black Cat. The villain equivalent to Bill Sinclair. Reference: ntwriters.proboards.com/post/2686420***** Ginz ❤ Dossier Dame has been a hero for many, many years. Many of the people she started with have since retired, but she stays determined to keep going. Even though her once futuristic tech is now only barely more powerful than the average smartdevice, her sharp mind keeps her ahead of the game. Reference: ntwriters.proboards.com/post/2684586***** Rabbit ♠ A mysterious Dimensional Kyrii with Ice powers. She has an almost ethereal feel about her, and that's what I tried to capture here. Reference: ntwriters.proboards.com/post/2686190***** ♥ Azzie Dynamic has no powers, but makes up for it with their amazing gymnastic abilities and special reinforced springy boots. Wait, are those fingers on that hand?? Reference: charahub.com/character/932264/Dynamic-Karo-Sullivan

And this is the last set of Warm Fuzzies! It was a pretty fun challenge to do such a wide variety of characters. Twillie Zathandra is a fashionable and sassy Aisha who's often seen trying out different new looks. She's appeared in many Neopian Times comics by Twillie. It was fun to play with a brown palette for this piece, and to also to try and emulate Twillie's style just a touch more than I usually would for something like this. Reference: floweringblossoms.deviantart.com/art/Summertime-61891284floweringblossoms.deviantart.com/art/Tyrannian-Zathandria-412620243***** Liou One night, two Dark Faeries met at a small Inn, and they bonded over destroying it together. Watching over the wreckage, the newcomer agreed to help Jennumara with her experiments on stealing a Faerie's power. But a pact between two Dark Faeries is a shaky thing at best... This piece is also notable because it's monochromatic, using different saturations and shades of the same purple-blue color. Reference: www.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?section=559288&week=634***** Moni A really well written slice of Darigan life, when Kass was younger, and Lord Darigan was still in power. Rations are meager, but Kass somehow has plenty to make a stew for the very malnourished Chantelle. She dreams of someday visiting the surface of Meridell, foreshadowing to when she would become the Court Dancer. There's other foreshadowing going on as well... Reference: www.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?section=570345&week=729www.drsloth.com/search/?tagged=court+dancerwww.drsloth.com/search/?tagged=kass***** Thorn The always theatrical villain Nyx Nightshadow. To Nyx, the most important part of being a villain is putting on a good show, and it shows in the elegant costumes she wears, the carefully crafted backstory she's woven, and of course, the villain speeches she delivers. Thank you so much for the effort you put into all of these. <3 I love your Espin, and I really love how you drew Nyxie! She looks great in your style, and I was so happy when I found this picture hidden amongst my other fuzzies.
