A series of nightmares for Chiller while she spends time in a human body! Contains Alter!Artemis and whatever else we may throw at her.
It started as a joke XD
Dream 1
Artemis: I'd have half a mind to end this here right now...but you know, you do seem to know me. Or know of me. Explain. What's my reputation to you?
Visually, he looked surprisingly similar. The main visible differences lied in his hair, which was absent of any graying, and his dark outfit. Subtler differences could be seen in eye and skin colour, though the night made them hard to pick out.
"My mistake. If you don't know me, you're not the Artemis I know."
Artemis: A mistake indeed. But you see, there's only one of me.
It's me, Artemis. Chiller. If this is some kind of joke, it's not funny."
She turned and ran.
He spread his wings but didn't take off after her. He didn't need speed for this. Artemis readied his hand and struck at the ground while sending a glowed ring into it. He knew he could rely on the shock wave from a blast.
She awoke from the dream.
Dream 2
Artemis: Are you one of us then? *he gestures to the sand calmly*
She waited, wondering if she dared let him get any closer. But her sand was limited, she needed him closer to maximize its effectiveness.
He tilted his head, more curious than anything, still taking steps closer.
She couldn't keep her eyes on his face. They kept moving to his hands. She wished she had more sand.
His expression remained stern, wings still spread and tense. Artemis' gloved palms were a bit out-turned with fingers twitching ever so slightly, ready.
"I don't know what they say about you. I ignore gossip. So here's what I say. Toward your enemies you're ruthless, there's no honor to how you fight. You're obnoxious. But you can be really sweet. You give me feelings I want to explore. You make my time spent in this body tolerable. You accept me. This body finds you attractive, and I guess I do too."
She took another step forward.
"You've got an amazing ability. I think I'm attracted to that too, when it's not being used on me.
Artemis: Done something...to me? Do you know who I am? I WORK for the people that do somethings!
He straightened up, angling his wings to make himself look larger.
Artemis: I admire your..."protectiveness". But if you're threatening them. If you're threatening ME. Well, you know what I can do. They do things that have to be done.
Chiller: Hah, pardon. I get it now. There's no gray in your hair. I know future you. Entropy, I'm glad you grew up. So one of us has been through a time warp. Probably you, given that you've also been through a spacial warp. Welcome to Taco City, baby. Your fascinating organization that "does things", which is definitely not what every other organization out there does, does not exist here.
Chiller: You should probably hold off on the definite statements until after you know what's going on. It saves you from being so wrong. Time warps are exactly what they sound like, kid. Space-time gets disturbed, by something or someone, and anything caught in the warp moves- in both space and time. So young Artemis is the same city at the same time as older Artemis. Oh yeah, spoiler, you live at least to middle age. How's your arm? Have you lost that yet?
She was reminded again of the throbbing her body was still experiencing.
Chiller: Wait here. I'll come back for you after I've received some treatment and talked to the older Artemis. Heh, don't need to be giving him a heart attack.
He held still and waited for Chiller to turn and walk off.
No honour, he thought. Honor didn't serve a dead man, what good could it be?
Artemis outstretched a hand and took the necessary steps to meet his palm to her upper back. He let loose a ring.
She awoke with a scream.
It started as a joke XD
Dream 1
It was night in the dark forest. No one ever went there, said things worse than the warp monsters lived there. But Chiller was curious. She saw a man, he looked familiar. "Artemis?" she asked, puzzled. There was something different about him. "Yes?" the man responded, turning around dramatically with a smirk.
The man looked her over quickly, as if to size her up, smirk still worn on his face.
She took a step back.
"My mistake. If you don't know me, you're not the Artemis I know."
He laughed, adjusting his bangs.
Artemis: A mistake indeed. But you see, there's only one of me.
She took another step back and frowned.
It's me, Artemis. Chiller. If this is some kind of joke, it's not funny."
Artemis: No no, I don't joke around. Especially not like this. I'll ask you again. How do you know me? *there's sternness in his voice*
"Something's wrong with you."
She turned and ran.
Artemis: *he laughed again* And you're figuring this out just now?
He spread his wings but didn't take off after her. He didn't need speed for this. Artemis readied his hand and struck at the ground while sending a glowed ring into it. He knew he could rely on the shock wave from a blast.
The blast knocked her over. She landed with a thud, the sand in her pockets spilling out.
She awoke from the dream.
Dream 2
It hurt. She hated how much this body hurt. But she had to get up. She had to get away from wrong-Artemis. She stood up shakily, realizing that wasn't an option. She turned to him, sand rising around her.
He walked towards her, angling his spread wings behind himself.
Artemis: Are you one of us then? *he gestures to the sand calmly*
"Yes... it's a recent development..."
She waited, wondering if she dared let him get any closer. But her sand was limited, she needed him closer to maximize its effectiveness.
Artemis: Mmhh..recent? Then are you new to your abilities?
He tilted his head, more curious than anything, still taking steps closer.
"Tell me about yourself. What kind of reputation do you have?"
She couldn't keep her eyes on his face. They kept moving to his hands. She wished she had more sand.
Artemis: *he laughed, wondering if this lady even deserved the chance he had to offer* ...well that's what I was thinking you could fill me in on. Since you know me, apparently. It's kind of tough to answer that myself without hearing what others say, don't you agree?
His expression remained stern, wings still spread and tense. Artemis' gloved palms were a bit out-turned with fingers twitching ever so slightly, ready.
She smirked and took a step forward.
Artemis: Ahaha, then you do know.... *he stopped walking and tilted his head again* But someone like you, I think I would remember that. If I'm so ruthless, you say, what makes you think you're not my enemy?
Chiller: We've been there, done that. Not enemies anymore. But if you don't remember me or any of that, it means someone has done something to you. And I'm going to find that someone and shred them.
He laughed and raised a brow.
She snickered, then coughed.
Artemis: Again with this crap? I've already told you. There is no future me, no other me. I'M the only me there is. And I demand you explain these warps and tell me everything you know about them.
She snickered.
Artemis: Kid... *he murmured the word before tensing suddenly and pulling back rather quickly* ....who told you? *he focused a glare on her, turning his right side away from her whether consciously or not*
Chiller: I've seen it, on older Artemis. *smiles sheepishly, then touches the metal plate on her head* ... It's nothing to be ashamed of, Artemis.
...it isn't any of your business to know. You couldn't have seen it....someone must have told you. Or you're spying on me.
Chiller: ... *face palm* How likely do any of those situations seem to you? I've seen older Artemis' arm because he showed it to me. Why don't we go down into the city and you can talk to him yourself?
Artemis: He... *he shook his head quickly* I wouldn't show anything to you. But if you're so convinced by your own delusions, then do PLEASE show me this impostor.
Chiller: Not an impostor, kid, but I'll show you yourself if you promise you're not going to be an idiot about it. I'm not losing him to his younger self.
Artemis: Hahaha...trust me, you have nothing to worry about.
Chiller: Let's say I trust you but not enough to not do this somewhere I can't separate you two.
She was reminded again of the throbbing her body was still experiencing.
Chiller: Wait here. I'll come back for you after I've received some treatment and talked to the older Artemis. Heh, don't need to be giving him a heart attack.
Artemis: *he laughed as if to brush it off* I have my own things to do, but you can say I might be around.
He held still and waited for Chiller to turn and walk off.
No honour, he thought. Honor didn't serve a dead man, what good could it be?
Artemis outstretched a hand and took the necessary steps to meet his palm to her upper back. He let loose a ring.
She grinned and nodded, turning around to leave. She was excited, and couldn't wait to see her Artemis' face. She heard young Artemis moving behind, coming toward her, not away. Did he have a question? She started turning around when she felt his hand on her back. Then felt an incredible surge of pain, her spine evaporating, her heart exploding. She saw it all erupt from her chest, felt her body dying. Felt her mind dying.
She awoke with a scream.
