She sighed to herself. Shouldn't have moved. She used sand to pull herself up another level, wondering if her personal ability would work on these things. Would her pack ability even be effective? ( She could give things a try if she wanted to. XD ) The creatures brushed against each other and poked their skulls against the rubble. While doing so, on occasion, the tar seemed to stretch out to prod the rocks as well before retreating again underneath the skull. They tilted their heads and the group began to spread out as they explored the floor of the building.((We know. But she'd rather experiment on one 'dog' than fail on half the pack at the same time. And more than that she'd rather get away. If you're curious for a hint to what her personal ability is, find the adoptable on my Squiby account named after her [it's in favorites])) She went to a broken window and used her sand to cross to the next building.

Chiller thought about moving onto the next building. But what if these things got someone? She should probably wait for help. But it wasn't like she couldn't be rebuilt if things went poorly. She targeted the 'dog' closest to her, and hit it with a blast of high radiation.

The creature rolled over and got up, seeming to shiver while looking around. The other pack members took no notice or care.

After circling around the group aimlessly for several laps it lay back down again.

She frowned at the tar-ish mass and proceeded to radiate the remaining resting pack. One head, another legs, another back, and the last one a full-body dose. She glanced at the building she had been, wondering how far along the hunting portion of the pack was, and if there were any animal or other warp beasts in there.

Two of the creatures seemed to lazily twitch in response, but after some longer moments the other two got up and started a round of low huff-like sounds. The one that had taken the head dose along with the full-body dosed creature began to shiver, and what visible tar could be seen bubbled a bit.
This seemed to quickly get the attention of all of the pack members. The ones that had been inside the building filed out and joined the larger group to watch.

She continued to watch, and felt a little guilty. She hoped they weren't in pain and would die quickly. The group exchanged grunts with each other and pressed closer to form a protective ring with their bodies.
The two in the middle lay down carefully, making sure to keep their skulls upright against the ground. They held surprisingly still for some moments. Slowly a puddle of the tar peaked it's edges from underneath each of their skulls, rippling and pulsating slowly.
Watching closely, some of the group members tilted their skulls and huffed out some more sounds. It was difficult to pinpoint but the puddles seemed to respond back with sounds of their own.

She watched closely, marveling at the protection instincts of the creatures. Warp beasts didn't normally act like that. What if this was a new alien race and she'd just attacked it? Why did this always happen to her? She needed to get one of the things alone, and needed to test its reaction to other lifeforms. She sent her sand out in wisps, seeking bugs and small mammals that might be in building with her.

Small shiny beetles and scruffy rodents were scattered around the building in tiny nooks, visible if one looked close enough.

Small shiny beetles and scruffy rodents were scattered around the building in tiny nooks, visible if one looked close enough. She spotted them and scooped up beetles while pondering how to deliver them to the sludge beasts, simultaneously nicknaming them that. The beetles were the right sizes, and they weren't wet on the outside or sticky... Sometimes living in a desert caused her to forget she wasn't limited to sand. She tried to lift the beetles without using her hands or her sand. Their bodies wobbled, shook, arose slightly, but would not otherwise obey her. She'd once known the feel of beetles and how to move them, but the memory hadn't seemed important and she'd erased it. She couldn't access a tutorial right now because for some reason the database was down. Irritably she gathered a handful of beetles and threw them at the sludge beasts.
