Welcome to Trick or Treat Subboard! A subboard that only exists for a few days, but in which anything can happen.
Basically, in this event, people who want to participate will go prowling through the threads in this subboard. These threads are 'houses' created by others, one house per forumer, regardless of whether or not they're participating in trick-or-treating. At these houses, they set up a place to hand out treats or a scenario or what-have-you and respond to people who visit their threads by giving them treats... or tricks. Or shenanigans! Trick-or-treaters are any forumer who visits a 'house' (thread) in the pursuit of goods... Or the victim of shenanigans. What and how many houses you decide to visit is up to you, and how involved you get into someone's house is also up to you.
In these houses/threads, any sort of thing can happen! Really, anything. If you need inspiration or ideas on what generally goes on, you might want to check out the Graveyard of Trick or Treat subboard to see what others have done. You're welcome to put your own spin in your thread!
When you go trick-or-treating in other threads, you have the option of dressing up your profile into some costume or another. This is entirely optional, but encouraged because it's fun. You can visit as many houses as you want, just keep the deadline in mind regarding replies to your trick-or-treating endeavors!
This subboard will exist for a few days, during which your trick or treating can happen! The event itself spans the entire few days around Halloween. On or after November 1st, you should focus on finishing your threads if you haven't already. Because on the last day, I will be moving them all to the Graveyard and the subboard will be deleted for another year. Please try to finish by then!
(The 2nd will be considered a soft end. That is, if someone truly is struggling to get everything done, they'll be given enough time on that day to do so. The threads won't be moved until the last one of those people are done, or until it looks like everything has stopped. That said, I don't want to go farther than the 2nd. Consider this time an allowance. Please be done before November 2nd, 11:59pm PST!)
(EDIT: This post has been modified to be more generic. Please see the latest post for this year for specifics and any updates!)
You may start posting your threads and trick-or-treating in this subboard as soon as you see it!
How do you participate? You just jump right in! There's no sign-ups for this event. So have at it, and collect many goods, trick-or-treaters!
• Overall this is a pretty free RP. Standard forum rules apply, and you might want to consider a schedule, but besides that, go for it!
• You do not need to make a house to go trick-or-treating, nor do you need to go trick-or-treating to make a house.
• You can participate in as many or as few houses as you would like. Do as you feel is best for you!
• Each person may build one house per year.
• Your 'house' need not be a house, nor does it necessarily need to be Halloween-themed. Though it can if you'd like. It's all flexible!
• You may plan your house ahead of time, but this is not required. It may all range from serious to casual. Plan as much or as little as you feel inclined!
• Trick-or-Treat (TOT) time will last about a week, and will close as indicated in the latest post on the Information thread. Please plan your time and workload accordingly, and keep in mind your limits.
• If you know you're going to close your house early, please leave a note in your house saying as much so people may plan accordingly!
