Don't know if I can show all you guys what I did yet, but I'm pretty darned proud of it. Hopefully in two weeks I'll just be able to copy the image URL from neopets itself. Good luck to everyone who enters, the competition is gonna be fierce, but I believe in all of you!

That would make sense considering people could come up with stuff ahead of time. Although, they'll probably show the entries that get into second place.

This actually begs a question. Can you enter the same random contest more then once?

Then I'll have to make sure this is my best one.

Okay, I'm about 30% done with the image, but now I have an artistic question.
Since I'm gonna use my TCG cards for the characters, they'll be on top of the image. That's fine for background things, but what do I do about objects in the foreground that they should be behind?

My suggestion would be to cut out individual foreground objects from a separate piece of paper and layer them on top of the characters. Good luck with your entry!

Yeah, that's what I thought I was going to have to do as well, that or cut lines in the image and slide the cards into the holes.

Now that I've added some color to the sketch, honestly, it doesn't look half-bad. Not good by any stretch of the word, but not bad.
Of course, the trick is going to be how to get the rectangular paper to turn into a square entry for submission, and 400 x 400 pixels.

Crop it in MS Paint (or your OS's equivalent) or GIMP?
And they mentioned in this week's editorial that it doesn't necessarily have to be 400x400, but they would at least like it to be square so they can re-size it.

Got everything colored. Now I just need to make the cuts to put in the TCG's, get the picture scanned, and then submit!

Okay, I have no idea how to change this into a jpg or gif format. It's a JPEG and it won't let me submit it as that

As far as I'm aware you can just change the file extension from ".jpeg" to ".jpg" in your file system (rename and specifically click the extension part to change it) and it works exactly the same.
