According to Matt Burnett, Summer Adventures will comprise the rest of Season 3. On one hand, great that we're finally getting a good volume of episodes. On the other... ...we are probably in for the mother of all hiatuses afterwards.

So the hiatus shouldn't be to long I think.

Also in the same article, they released a clip of the musical episode, which is something that we knew was coming up for a while. Here it is!

Watch out guys, Cartoon Network just leaked again, and it's another BIG spoiler. Although what I will say outside of spoiler tags is that it's pretty easy to guess what it is if you look at the title for one of the upcoming episodes... Centipeedle returns and gets uncorrupted. And all it took was Steven's healing spit.

Tonight's episode Mr. Greg ripped out my heart, then tore it to bits, then stomped on it. Deedee Magno Hall already does my favorite voice acting ever as Pearl, but in this ep especially, she absolutely knocks it out of the park.
I just sat here and watched it like... like four times...
Also, I also saw the giant spoiler! By accident. Ahhg! Ahhg! AHHG!

I haven't seen tonight's yet, but I did see yesterday's, and I saw the giant spoiler (someone put it on twitter) (yesterday) This was just so cute. Yellowtail and Sour Cream, Greg being awesome... Marty's a butthead, but that's nothing new. And DAT ENDING. (giant spoiler) Honestly I don't mind that I saw that because it makes me happy to see that Steven't healing came back. I sort of knew it would, but I'm still happy about it. Also I love that character and I bet their design will be awesome

Mr Greg Pearl: *sings a power ballad at the top of her lungs, 3 feet away from where Steven and Greg are sleeping*
Pearl: ??? Oh, you're awake!?
The New Lars This episode was so much better than I thought it would be. It was funny, Steven learns that he has cool body possession powers, we get to see Lars' parents, and Matthew Moy did a really great job mimicking Steven's speech patterns.
I'm so glad this episode avoided my pet peeve with body swap episodes, and had Steven talk in Lars' voice and not his own.

That was a week of pretty cool episodes. ^^ (Not that the episodes in general aren't cool, but... Well, I liked them. xD ) General: I feel like it was trying to catch up on stuff happening in Beach City during the barn arc. Neat to check in with the humans. (And I'm glad they at least mentioned the earthquakes. xD ) Much as I loved the barn arc, I missed Beach City. Mr. Greg (ping for Killix in here) Okay, technically referring to the episode prior here, but daaang, that's a lot of money, especially for a burger place jingle. xD I kind of expected him to blow it quickly, but that's a lot of money to blow it in one episode, so I'm glad they didn't go the "poor again in one day" route. xD Anyway, musical episode! \ o / Though I was more into it once it got really deep into the Pearl and Greg stuff. Those are some difficult emotions to hurdle. I'm still singing "It's Over" in my head. Killix - xDD Yeaaah, not thinking very clearly, are you, Pearl? ='D Drawing from that though, something I found that I found interesting. The creators of the show posted on their tumblr about some behind the scenes about the song, including how the scene was originally supposed to go in the outline. There was supposed to be more happening in it, but it was shortened and simplified for time constraints. The post is here if you want to read. It's the behind the scenes about the song including the outline snippet in question. Too Short to Ride Ah ha, I was wondering when the topic of Peridot's powers would come up. I wondered if she'd find some sort of weapon or something to fit with the rest of the cast, but considering how much trouble she has with it, seems like that'd be harder. xD ...Well, ferrokinesis (telekinesis? What are those rings made of...?) is still a pretty cool power and can be pretty versatile once she's used to it. Also interesting to hear about the resource problem on Homeworld and how it's affecting the gems. Most likely that's one of the reasons the Homeworld gems are as expansionist as they are. (...And it makes YD look even more petty about what she wanted to do with Earth. xD ) Incidentally, during the episode, they put up a twitter for Peridot (run by one of the crew) and it has all the tweets she made during the episode, most of them made off-screen. And.. ...Well, I went to find the link to the twitter, and apparently she made more tweets for the other two episodes. xD Anyway, here, have a link. Peridot's twitter(Note: The tweets themselves are sfw content-wise, but the comments on each individual tweets (that aren't visible anyway unless you click on the tweet itself) may not necessarily be, being twitter and all.) The other two episodes were also good and interesting, I just have nothing in particular to say here about them. xD Now to strap in for more next week.

Drop Beat Dad:On one hand, I was hoping that they wouldn't take the obvious route and have Marty continue to be a colossal jerk that's clearly learned nothing about being a better person since being Greg's manager. But on the other, I probably would've been rubbed the wrong way if they just gave him a free pass for being absent in Sour Cream's life. Ultimately, I'm fine with how the episode panned out. It's nice to have Sour Cream get the spotlight for a bit, and the ending with him and Yellowtail was sweet as well. Singing and Crying Mr. Greg:A lot of the cast say that this is their favorite episode, and I can definitely see why.
Generally I'm pretty ambivalent about songs and I've never been all that interested in musicals or musical episodes, but dang. Somebody give Deedee an award. Her singing -as always- was fantastic.
Plus, it's nice to see Pearl and Greg finally begin to truly get along. Amazing songs and a big step taken in the character development department... Easily the best episode this season and one of the best overall. Too Short to Ride:I'm not sure if I really like how the reveal of Peridot's powers was handled. Amethyst just got done saying how she and the other Gems like Peridot because of who she is and not who she could be, and then for the show to just be all, "Surprise! You have powers after all!" kinda nullifies that speech a bit.
But I digress. Any Peridot episode was still bound to be enjoyable and even if I have misgivings on how they manifested, Peridot being a metalbender is bound to lend itself to some fun scenarios in the future. The New Lars:
I'm gonna dissent from the other people here. This episode... was really uncomfortable to watch. I didn't enjoy it at all.
I continue to be utterly baffled at what the plan for Lars and Sadie is. I fail to see why they should be together and why even Steven thinks they should be together other than the tired and typical "If a boy and girl breathe the same air on a regular basis, they must end up as a couple, no matter how horribly they act towards one another." Lars treats Sadie like crap, Sadie has been manipulative towards him before, and that is not exactly a good formula for a healthy couple. And yet the show continues to try to push the idea of them being together as a possibility.
I'm not exactly fond of Steven's methods to "help" Lars either, no matter how much of a jerk he is. And I'm not convinced any of this had a positive impact and that anything is going to change for the better between Lars and Sadie.
Honestly, I don't think it's any coincidence that my three least favorite episodes -now including this one- are all focused on Lars + Sadie. The episodes that focus on their relationship always leave a bad taste in my mouth and for a show that is otherwise very socially aware and progressive, it feels especially jarring. Beach City DriftNow this is the kind of Steven Universe episode I like to see. A fun episode and a good message. It's great to see Stevonnie again, and it's been such a long time since they've had a speaking role, let alone an episode in the spotlight.
Kevin's a slimy you-know-what, but I like how the overall message of the episode was to not give people like him the satisfaction of thinking about them. And I thought they showed that really well when Steven and Connie realized they were doing exactly what Kevin wanted by fusing because of him, and decided to finish the race for the race's sake and not playing into Kevin's game.
And some people apparently have been calling Steven OOC in this episode, but I understand why he's upset. You really have to be closing your eyes and plugging your ears to not catch the message of consent in this episode, which Keven didn't respect when he kept trying to get Stevonnie to dance with him after they said no back in Alone Together. Steven's very emotional, so it makes sense that while he's very open about his positive feelings, he's just as open about his negative ones as well. And besides, Stevonnie was willing to give Kevin the benefit of the doubt over his sob-story before revealing he was lying, and I imagine Steven had more than just some part of that, so I don't think he was totally closed to the idea of empathizing with Kevin (At least up until that aforementioned point) like he did with so many other characters in the show. Next week we have: Monday: Restaurant Wars Tuesday: Kiki's Pizza Delivery Service Wednesday: Monster Reunion Thursday: Alone at Sea Friday: Greg the Babysitter In particular, I'm really excited about Wednesday and Thursday's episodes.

Okay, my thoughts of the Steven-nuke so far. Drop Beat Dad I knew Marty would be a jerk. I saw that coming a mile away. I really like how Yellowtail comes in and helps Sour Cream. It's sweet, the way a father SHOULD act. Mr. Greg Someone tell me why I wasn't expecting a musical episode. In Steven Universe. The entire series has tons of music.
Some really great character development goes on in this episode. Normally I am not a big fan of musical episodes, but Steven Universe had 1) Great music to begin with and 2) Nice character revelations. It's nice to see Greg and Pearl beginning to get along.
On a related note, "It's Over, Isn't It?" is my favorite SU song. In the process of learning all the lyrics. Too Short to Ride PERIDOT
Sorry, I love Peri. I found this episode very cute. It's no secret that Peridot is my favorite gem. I always like seeing her character develop or be revealed. I felt sorry for Peridot in this episode. SHE JUST WANTS TO BE LIKE THE OTHERS. D': But having Ferrokinesis is really cool, like how Lapis has Hydrokinesis. And Peridot with the alien is just too cute.
Also, Peridot+Technology=Awesome The New Lars Ooh, Steven's powers got cooler. If I had his power, I'd be messing with it sooo much, you know that.
In all seriousness, I liked seeing Lars' life. He's a character we didn't know a whole bunch a lot. We certainly know more about Sadie. And Lars' voice actor (I'd say his name if I knew it) did a really good job acting like Steven. I can tell Steven was in his mind. Beach City Drift STEVONNIE! Woo!
I always like it when Connie and Steven are together in an episode, and this one is no different. I love how the two were denying being obsessed with him, but they really were by just trying to beat him. I'm glad Steven and Connie recognized it. And at the end, seeing Kevin obsessed with their attention is the best. It sends a nice message - ignore the haters, they live off your attention. Woo! I'm ready for part 2 of Steven-nuke!
