Greg Universe is up there with Uncle Iroh as "people from cartoons we desperately need in our lives." Iroh gives out wisdom and guidance but Greg has an aura of zen and acceptance that many of us can only strive for. Just look at how he took The Reveal.

*pokes head in* So... about the last 7 episodes... This might sound crazy, but I want to throw it out there (and try to combat some anxiety). So I’ve been digging into these eps since A Single Pale Rose came out, and the more I’ve dug, the more I personally have become convinced that Pearl’s memories are were altered by the Diamond Attack, that White Diamond (or whatever her real name is) is doing a bunch of mind-meddling in general, and that the real Pink is stuck powering the observation orb in the moon base. XD;;; Among other things, there are a ton of contradictions, and they generally seem intentional. I’m not going to list them all, but one example is that Pearl says they’ll warp down to the Kindergarten when there’s no sign of a warp pad (current or ruined), and Pearl herself says that warping there isn’t possible. And you remember what happened toward the end of The Trial? Blue was shocked when B. Zircon established that it couldn’t have been Rose and said that it might’ve been a Diamond. Suddenly, she’s fighting alongside someone accused with no apparent problem, and she’s telling Steven “Answer for what you’ve done!” And yes, it was shown in Off-Colors that some things can get through the shield. I’m not gonna repost everything I’ve put on my blog, and I’m not trying to get an argument going or anything. I just want to throw it out there because I like to share my theories, but I tend to get anxiety over it. And just in case anyone is interested in the possibility. ^_^;; My SU Tumblr is BlueKayanite, if anyone’s interested. I'll admit that I do a lot of rambling, but there is a lot of stuff that seems pretty solid. *hides again*

((Spoiler boxes, please)) Watching it now, and I might edit this post later once I've finished. EDIT: Legs From Here to Homeworld spoilers: Dang, WD is not what I thought, but this is... somehow worse. ='D (But then I'm guessing that's the point. xD )
(Though I was wrong on another front: I kind of expected her to be the building in the distance. But then I suppose she's huge enough already.)
Anyway, earlier in the episode, Blue seemed under the impression that gems were destroyed, which makes me wonder if they were surprised to see the corruption. Which makes me wonder if that was wholly White's doing.
(And Centiiiii (I guess we know her name is Nephrite, but Centiiii), they were so close.)

Knew it on Centi's true identity. Had the feeling ever since Bismuth made the comment to Pearl about her pulling a Nephrite out of a drop ship.
I like how Pink Diamond's ship is basically just a giant butt flying through space.
I concur that White Diamond is pretty creepy, but god White Pearl is seriously unsettling as well. Not to mention it's really suspicious that she's not voiced by Deedee like the other Pearls...

Following on that, I just learned something while looking stuff up... Apparently, WD and WP have the same voice actor. (Christine Ebersole, specifically.) Which is even more unsettling. (Which is probably indeed what they were shooting for.)
WP clearly has a history that does not seem all that rosy. I kinda feel bad for her, actually, given the implications the show's shooting for here. Overall I just have so many questions.

I also know everyone must be sick and tired of me gabbing on and on about Sailor Moon, but WD's visual is at least partially inspired by Sailor Cosmos, guaranteed, which makes my little Sailor Moon fangirl heart squeal bc it's got to be like, what, the 20th Sailor Moon reference or inspiration I spot on the show? But this case, the white caped literal goddess of creation and destruction is not a coward running away from her problems and passing as a little child to try to convince the protagonist to destroy the source of all star life on the galaxy. No, this time, it's a 30's cartoon comic character obviously coded to be emotionally (and maybe even physically) abusive.

Okay, White Diamond and her Pearl hit uncanny valley for me. Just the way WD's Pearl moves and WD's lack of movement, for lack of a better term... And their voices... It's rare that something makes me unnerved in television, but they did it for me.
That being said, I love how they were presented. I can tell that was the intended reaction and boy, did the Crewniverse deliver. White Diamond is so broken. (Maybe she was corrupted from their weapon as well? That's my takeaway.) Also, as offputting as WD is, her eyes are really pretty.
I have to say, the other Diamonds are slowly growing on me. Blue seems really sweet and Yellow does seem to have a somewhat open mind.
Also, CENTI, POOR CHILD. I swear, if she doesn't get healed permanently, I'm going to be so upset.

Wow this character kind of sounds like my ex-therapist not gonna lie. That's hilarious. But also we should make the breaking point mark II and shatter each and every one of the diamonds. Sorry Steven. You are an acceptable sacrifice.

She got legs and she knows how to drive 'em through space. My various thoughts:
I like how the Diamond ships make up a giant robo-lady. I wonder if they could combine zords style?
Poor White Pearl... she needs help. She only speaks in White Diamond's voice, her animations aren't working (she just T-poses and floats... though walls) and her character model is broken. Someone help her. D:
White Diamond... is... not a gem? To me, she comes off as something entirely different in the ethereal way that she's presented. (Dat contrast and detail... and no gem can be seen) I'm thinking celestial being? or maybe she is the homeworld planet? I dunno, but they did say that she's unlike the other gems, including the other Diamonds, so...
Anyone notice the white wires that can be seen strewn all throughout homeworld? White Diamond appears to have them all connecting to her. Considering the state of the planet (cracked to pieces) I think this is a hint that she's holding the planet together (or controlling/monitoring it... or both.) and has been for eons which is why she hasn't left the planet in 5evr - because she can't do so without it literally falling apart.
"Don't worry - Steven will be fine." Yeah, thanks Garnet. That awkwardly specific statement doesn't make me fear for the rest of the cast at all. o_o;;

So, I have...maybe not a theory but a hope.
This whole show's theme (well, one of many) has been that nobody is truly evil and everyone has a reason for acting as they are. With some effort, enemies can become friends. That clearly seems to be sorta happening with Blue and Yellow (and I do hope they become friends. At least Blue does. I love Blue.)
But here's an additional lesson that I really want them to impliment with White (and they seem to be going this route): that some people cannot be redeemed, nor should be. They are toxic, for one reason to another (in White's case, lust for power). All you can do against toxic people is cut them off.
White Diamond in general is...beautiful and creepy. Everyone seems afraid of her and I feel like her sweetness towards Steven is not real. All the while she is condescending towards him, not even listening to what he has to say. It feels like an abuser who is being overly nice to lower your defences right before snapping. Further reinforced by Blue and Yellow's fears and whatever happened to that poor Pearl. I suspect she made a mistake at some point and White responded by making her into a simulacrum of herself so she would never make mistakes again.
The state of Homeworld also tells me that the Gem empire is not in good condition. White is doing all she can to cling to power, up to and including (I suspect) using herself as a power source to keep Homeworld together. All so she does not have to give up her power or her empire.
Her design is gorgeous though.

The moment I saw Pink's ship I instantly thought about Voltron or Zords or any of those giant combining robots.
Then I saw White's ship? on homeworld and went, yep. Giant robo lady.
