It works, but it's somewhat slow (at least, that's how it seemed at the coffee shop I was at for today's write-in) I just finished double the daily wordcount. ^^ Got lectured when I announced how satisfied I was with that and how I should just keep writing, but... I'm happy. And I probably will write later when I've recovered from being out and about with public. I'm introverted just enough that being in a large group of people for too long (even those I like) leaves me exhausted. (Plus, somehow half of my city had a power outage, and nobody seems to know why. At least it's not affecting my house or I wouldn't be posting this). Yeah, I finally got to be able to update my count again. They seem to having it working. Maybe they are doing maintenance on the grid? You can usually find what is causing the outage if you call the provider and ask. I hope it doesn't affect you. I just looked it up and apparently it has something to do with a 'substation interruption', whatever that means...? My dad says that translates to 'power surge'. Either way, it was pretty neat to see half of the street lit up and the half on the other side completely out on the bus ride home.

Ah, someone must have plugged in the hair dryer and the toaster at once again. XD

I had a really good start into this NaNo. Went to a Halloween-Write-In-Party, where - in full costume (I went as the 'Snowflake-Method' to stick to the NaNo-theme) - at the strike of midnight we all started typing like mad. And at around 1k all decided that we were rather tired. XD Yesterday we had our official Kick-off and, wow, the place was really packed! But as there were lots of smaller tables with groups of four people to a table or so, it was not such a big group-feeling, which a large table generates, so, yeah... I think I'm looking already forward to our next meeting in two weeks. But I managed to get a full daily quota written there and with what I had written earlier that day ended first day of NaNo with a wordcount of 2 days' worth. A first for me in NaNo. Today was the typcial Non-NaNo-conducive Sunday... but I managed to get in a little over 1k, so I'm actually quite happy about my wordcount.

I had once started the story I'm working on, but felt like I wasn't doing to great. I decided to start rewriting it from scratch, going back to the older doc for reference here and there. Then I reread the opening I wrote and was like "Wow, that was significantly better than the current one..." So I guess I'm a worse writer now than before. Not gonna let that stop me, however, I am totally copy pasting that intro...

Two days in and I already feel like I'm way behind 8'D Then again I still have plenty of time to catch up, if I can just get out of this rut of constantly getting distracted...

So, are the stats broken for anyone else? I registered my wordcount updates yesterday, but the stats claim I never made it past 13k. I fixed it by editing it by day, but that's still a pain. I hope they fix it soon. I like to see the accurate stats as I work. It is encouraging to see how much closer to 50k I am and how many fewer words I have to write daily; it always makes me write harder when I'm lagging just to knock a few more words and days off the estimate.

It's the same for me, though my wordcount seems to be fine on the other parts of the site. It seems to be just another glitch. The Nanowrimo staff probably already knows about it (though it wouldn't hurt to try?)

XD Yeah I just realized when I updated my wordcount a few minutes ago something was screwy. It's telling me I'm at 1403 words for today and I'm like "um, no, at best I'm at 400 words for today, where are you getting that other thousand" and then I realized some of the words I added late last night were bunged off for some reason. Yay glitches!

I was able to go in and update my wordcount stats up to normal by going to the 'edit wordcount by day' section on my stats page. So it's not an unsolvable problem. EDIT: It looks like the daily wordcount page is the only way you can update it and not have your wordcount drop to zero or just not update on the stats page. :/ Weeeird.

Somebody hit me until I stop editing as I go, because I'm super self-conscious about everything I'm typing and bleeearrrrgh.

Somebody hit me until I stop editing as I go, because I'm super self-conscious about everything I'm typing and bleeearrrrgh. I don't like using web-based writing programs to, um, write, but this was posted on the NaNo subreddit today, which might help: NaNoWriTo. You literally cannot edit once you submit a paragraph, and since you stop being able to see words the longer the paragraph is...well, it's nigh impossible to self-edit without a huge amount of effort. Once you press enter...no editing at all. The guy created it because he was having the same trouble as you - perhaps it could work?
