Friiiiiig! I just had an idea that would create wonderful havoc and tension for my characters but it would require me restructuring a lot of the ploooooot. D: One major bad guy is not enough for me, apparently. But it would solve my problem of wondering if I had enough conflict...

Aw dangit why did I put off jotting down the outline-type stuff until now
Well, I know where it's going overall and I've got the first few scenes planned out, so that's enough to start with at least. Gonna start writing as soon as all the planned scenes and things are jotted down :I

Well, I'm 180 words in, and totally not happy with what I've put down so far!
Pretty standard, I'd say.

*stares at outline so far* *sees "possible" note next to prologue bit*
...I don't know whether to start this thing with a prologue I may or may not end up using or whether to just skip to the main story for now and decide whether to add the prologue in later :I

I'm working very hard with my opening to do more showing than telling in referencing back to the important details of the last book. I wrote an opening for the book back a couple of months ago, sat on it and did no more, and then came back at the beginning of October and realized I had a massive info dump and that really could be spread out through conversation for a couple of chapters and move the story along without bogging down the beginning.
Expanding things into showing rather than telling is my new goal. I expanded one of the early chapters of Sparrows into three more chapters by taking every paragraph in which I told about something and instead expanded it into a scene actually showing the events told of in that paragraph.
Also, we don't have dares thread this year. I enjoyed reading those, even if I never found a way to work those dares in. XD

Wordcount updater is bugging out. Because it's the first weekend, of course it is. First weekend of NaNo without the website lagging and bugging wouldn't be NaNo at all.

Ahaha, nah it isn't just you. Kristy told me over PM that she was having issues too. The NaNo site always does this the first weekend because there are SO many people rushing to update their wordcount. It'll get better after the site moderators bump up the loadbearing capacity for the site- and after a good third of the participants who are all enthusiastic this weekend get three thousand words in and go "y'know what, nevermind." XD But if previous years are anything to go by there's a strong likelihood the site will crash altogether before it gets better. X3

I haven't been able to get my wordcount updated in three hours. It seems to be truly down now. XD

It works, but it's somewhat slow (at least, that's how it seemed at the coffee shop I was at for today's write-in) I just finished double the daily wordcount. ^^ Got lectured when I announced how satisfied I was with that and how I should just keep writing, but... I'm happy. And I probably will write later when I've recovered from being out and about with public. I'm introverted just enough that being in a large group of people for too long (even those I like) leaves me exhausted. (Plus, somehow half of my city had a power outage, and nobody seems to know why. At least it's not affecting my house or I wouldn't be posting this).

Yeah, I finally got to be able to update my count again. They seem to having it working. Maybe they are doing maintenance on the grid? You can usually find what is causing the outage if you call the provider and ask. I hope it doesn't affect you.
