Hey, guys! =D The old University Support Group has been dead for over six years, so I thought I'd make a new one. This is a thread for everyone who's currently enrolled in higher education! Post your majors, give advice, rant about professors/classmates/administrative nonsense, all that fun stuff. Welcome, Celes! =D
I'm still part-time at the local uni, but plans are to switch back to Smith by spring. >> Anyway, I'm taking FREN203: Review of French Grammar and RUSS112: Beginning Russian II. My French prof put upwards of two hundred files online, most of which could have probably been combined or something. Also, the .doc files are formatted weirdly. That aside, this looks like a perfect course for me. Lots of emphasis on composition and editing! I can finally fill the gaps in my French grammar.

Do master students taking exclusively online courses count count? If so, you can sign me up. My degree is Library and Information Science. I am currently enrolled in Foundations of LIS, history of Libraries, and on other required foundations course I can't recall just now. XD

I'm currently in a technical college knocking out math because that's a general and I figured I should do some generals, but I'm hoping to get into proper college afterward and get into game design. 8D Does that count?

It is entirely possible I will be doing plenty of complaining these upcoming two semesters despite probably having no right given that I have one class in each.
Computer science major BD I'm taking Programming Languages this fall, which from what I can tell is basically "Here's how you do this thing in C++! Now here's how to do it in C#! And Java! And Python! And..." The fact that this is a 400-level course when we definitely start or have the option to learn C++, C#, and Java way earlier baffles me, but at least it should be a relatively simple course. Just hope my old laptop with the coding program on it doesn't die halfway through the semester.
Dang, Nat, that's a lot of files 0_0

Going into third-year in B.Sc. in Computer Science because I haven't heard of a single game design school in Canada and/or wasn't looking hard enough! 8D (plus this is a more general knowledge base I guess)
also I don't have to think about capstone projects for another year so that's okay.

I was supposed to have 14 credit hours but through a series of events that 14 became 11. I have Statistics, General Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Physical Science (we're focusing on astronomy and physics this semester).
Then later on in the semester I need to apply for the Communication Disorders program and hopefully I get in this time. I HAVE TO GET IN THIS TIME.
OH YEAH I'm a Speech/Communication Disorders major. Gonna be a speech pathologist one day!

I should probably say what I'm doing, huh?
I'm going into my third year of my joint degree in Modern History and Russian. Technically my fourth year doing the course but last year was my year abroad so I'm getting back into the university life properly. This is also the year that actually begins counting towards my degree level so no pressure. xD
>_> *feels bad that I'm the only arts major here aside from Nat*

Hi, I'm a master's student. 8D Getting my MA in counseling, although currently I kind of wish I wasn't. *tries not to be jealous of coaster and tiger's computer degrees hhhhhh why didn't i do that*
....aaaaaaanyway. XD You might be able to tell I'm feeling supremely unenthusiastic about this right now, oh well. My undergrad was in psychology, with a minor in creative writing (I started out the other way around, and switched them halfway through). And uh. This year should be. interesting. 8D I kind of have no idea what's going on with my life right now and neither does anyone else SOOOO

Sign me up for this. I'm in my senior year of physics. And after that, I'm stiiiiill trying to figure out exactly what I'm gonna do. xD I may try to get a masters, at least, although that requires testing that I still really need to study for. But I've also looked into high school teaching. (Even though I'm not sure how great of a teacher I'll be; I've never been very good at communicating or keeping control of a large group of people. ...Or people in general.) Basically, I don't know what I'm doing. xD
I have one major, but I have a whole bunch of interests in other things. What I did in the past was using some of my free time to take some of the various other kinds of classes I'm interested in (plus taking care of all those general ed credits; I didn't finish my last humanities credit until last summer because I really took my time on the humanities credits). Right now though, I'm just trying to focus on my last few required classes so that I can graduate.

Whoo, sign me up. I'm heading into my sophomore year of college, intended history major, though I haven't actually declared yet. (*high-fives Celestial*) My fall schedule is kind of in flux (changed my mind on which language to study, and the professor changed for one of my history classes so I'm probably going to switch to a different one), but I'm pretty sure what I'm going to end up with is Women and Gender in Contemporary Europe, Early African History to 1800, Contemporary Culture in the Spanish-Speaking World, and Writing for the Theater. (Plus maybe a one-credit course or two, in either theater production or gender studies.) I also have to actually declare my major sometime this fall, which means choosing an adviser. I like all the history profs I've had so far, which makes it difficult. xD I mean, I'll figure it out, but, you know. Hopefully I'll be able to nail down my concentration after declaring, too. I'm leaning toward comparative colonialism, or something along those lines. I still haven't bought my textbooks. >____>

So I just found out I could actually take three courses maximum, not two. <_< I didn't do my research very well, gah! Anywho, I'm now signed up for my first college writing class. This one's focusing on the writing process, plus some philosophical stuff. Combined with the French class, I think this will help a lot.

Any chance I could sign up? Going into my first year, hoorah. I have next-to-no idea what I'm planning on studying, but I reason I'm probably going to figure it out once I actually begin taking courses. >> I kind of figure it's better to go in undeclared than to enter with an idea and then have to change it several times while trying to find a niche.
Orientation isn't for three more weeks. <_< Yay I... suppose?
