I've been drawing a few Zathandria's lately after remembering that I love magic girls and their fancy outfit transformations. One of the drawings I've been working on is a revived sketch originally drawn a couple months ago:

It's still in the rough sketch stage as I try to figure out all its elements. I really like the composition the tree makes, but the poses in the middle have me a little stuck right now. Most likely I'm overthinking them and they don't actually have to be that deep in meaning lol.

I wanted to play around with ideas for future Zathandria looks (the characters will have different outfits/looks as time goes on), and this is my favorite for her so far. It may see some tweaks, but I've got a feeling this will be the basic design I'll go with for whenever the time comes.

This version isn't complete just because I got tired of drawing lighting last time I worked on this lol

I've got even more Zathandria drawings, keeping in theme with the magic girl theme! Rabbit ♠ is hosting a Magical Girl BC theme week in October, and I couldn't help but make something of Zathandria for it x3

Thankfully I managed to get this under 75KB without completely sacrificing quality, so now it's just a matter of waiting until the time comes >w>

Coincidentally both are rainbow dresses, but a nice theme to end up with! I always love looking through Neopets wearables, it makes for a fun drawing exercise to dress up your characters.

I unearthed an old Fyora sketch of mine and continued working on it, and it turned out.... much more than I was expecting lol. Usually I'm not fond of doing a lot of shading, but this time I guess the lighting was interesting enough that I stuck with it. (or maybe I'm actually improving with shading, gasp! ) Either way, I really like where this one is going~

Now I just want to give it a good background that can match the atmosphere, but I'm also afraid of making this too big for my computer to handle xD;

I feel like Baelia is long overdue a new outfit, and I've been messing around with designs for one lately. This is the most complete idea I've drawn so far, which I suppose in-universe would be a repurposing of her old dress since it has the same colors. I like the idea of something new, but with a color blocking pattern reminiscent of her old design, plus something cozy-looking since her old dress makes me feel cold just looking at it x'D

(I also gave her the boots from her alternative avril lavigne-style outfit >w>)

Updated my userlookup for the first time in probably years, considering how all its images had photobucket watermarks rip. Made a wintery header to go with it, featuring the snowman Zathandria and Cherry collaborated on:

I also started messing around with Faerie character designs, in the event I may need some for background characters. These few are all the first draft, so they're not the most realized or complete designs, but they make for a good starting point.

End of the year means another art summary meme! I've been seeing a fancy new template floating around on social media lately, so I thought it'd be fun to use it myself. My 2021 art summary:

The latter half of this year felt much more productive than the first, so I got creative to fill out every month. Some pieces I put in the month that I started them, even if they were finished later, and others I put with the month I finished them, even if they were created months earlier. Other pieces got lucky and were created and finished in the same month. Basically there's no real consistency here in how the art was matched to month, but to be fair I'm not sure how consistent I was in years past.

June was the most barren month, and it took me forever to fill. I eventually had to settle with a series of sketches I made that brainstormed the design for a character I may not even end up using xD

Overall though, I'm happy with what I've been able to create this year! It's been an off year for me in a number of ways, and I was worried that there'd be a long stretch of time where I'd have nothing to show. I'm glad though that I was able to push through regardless, even if it meant simply sketching out an idea to pick back up later.

So I've reached the point of playing Old School RuneScape enough to start drawing for it lol. A specific illustration idea came to me for one of the quests in the game, but in order to make it, I needed to figure out how to draw my player character first. This is how it's going so far:

I'm really happy with how the face is turning out, as it was an experiment in merging some outside inspiration with my own style (namely, I referenced some design aspects from Arcane and Centaurworld). I'm wanting to create the look of someone weathered by their countless travels, but who still has the spirit for adventure, which I think is coming along here~

Twillie, your character looks fantastic! I love this merge of your inspirations with your style, the result is super nice. You did a great job conveying volume, and her pose looks so fluid and natural. Lovely all around! <3

One thing that did strike me, though, was her shoes. They're really fun, but since the rest of the picture is fairly neutral and muted tones, as soon as I scrolled down the whole way, my eyes went directly to the shoes like a magnet. They're a really cool design element, but they can be distracting from the overall picture. I guess one way to counter that could be to desaturate the colors a bit, or put other bright elements elsewhere in the picture to balance things out. Especially where you want to focus the attention.

It looks like you're having a lot of fun with this, so I can't wait to see what else you draw! =D

This is true haha, I'll be needing to color correct if I make any more drawings with this particular outfit. I basically just color picked for this whole drawing from the clothes I usually put on her, so either I'll desaturate the shoes or just draw her with different ones lol.

Drew this late last night while pondering ghost story stuff. There's a second panel to this mental image, however I haven't gotten past its sketch stage yet as the character in it doesn't have a fully realized design right now lol.

Ah, Twillie, I just had to comment on this latest piece, even if it took me a few days to be able to do so! It's so moody and perfect! Gibi looks uncertain, and glowy, and the trees in the background add to the atmosphere. It's so good.
