Aw, thanks June! :3 I've been trying to be looser when sketching environments to try and capture their mood better, so I'm glad it worked here! (and lol I suppose it's fitting that my reply as well comes a few days later xD) And to build off that first sketch, here it is with the aforementioned second panel!
It's the moon! Personified!! I'm not as big a fan of this second panel as I am with the first, but to be fair my main focus was just to get more comfortable with this new character design. I'm already used to drawing Gibi, so it's easier to get experimental with her lol. This moon design is one I've been wrestling with for a while now, and while I'm not feeling 100% on it yet, I think I'm pretty darn close to settling on a final design. Did a couple new commissions for Strider ! Miraja and Allorah: 
I also updated my Neopets userlookup with the beginning of February, and here's the new header for it:  It's inspired by an actual wearable that Cherry is currently wearing (as I updated most of my pets outfits as well haha) featuring a frosted-over cherry tree. I love that concept as I feel it represents this time of year well, that in between time of winter and spring, and it also uses all the colors I associate with February. And then there's a sunrise to represent the new beginnings of the early year and coming season (I am aching for longer days lol). |

Sketched out Jonathon and Lily together in some extra fancy outfits~ I felt like I didn't have a proper side by side picture of them before now, and I wanted something that could really emphasize how they're visual foils for each other. No idea what I'll do for the background though, lol.  |

As mentioned in Spring Cleaning, I did some fine tuning to the Moon's design, as there were some pieces that I feel didn't quite click yet. Specifically, their face didn't feel finished to me, although it's hard to pinpoint what exactly the missing pieces are. I experimented a bit and made the split on their face horizontal instead of vertical (even the moon makes sure to wear a face mask!), better defined/tightened the shape of their hair, and added a veil to their hat to hopefully balance the design's weight. This is what I came up with:  The top left sketches were me getting down my initial thoughts, and then middle is the full updated design. To the right of it is where I played around with color placement, as that's been a challenge all on its own that I haven't fully figured out lol. But in terms of basic design and shape, I do like this updated version a lot better! It feels more whole. There are still little pieces that I'll likely change around, like their sash and "necklace," but overall I'm feeling good about this! (Bottom left sketch is a rough idea of how they may look from the back. I'm half tempted to just never show her from the backside, like how the far side of the moon never faces Earth, but in the event that I do, I like the idea that everything of her is obscured by dark veils except for the moon on her hat, as though you're simply looking at the moon in the night sky.) And then to break in their new face, I had some fun playing around with expressions, including toothy jumpscare face x3 Moon typically doesn't have a mouth (or rather the semblance of one, since this form isn't exactly organic), which can make it fun implying emotions with such limitation. But I also have the potential idea that the Moon can give herself a mouth, one that she deliberately makes spooky and that she uses to scare/mess with others. Moon isn't an evil character, but she is one that keeps other characters on their toes. Due to her age and isolation, her social skills and humor can be a bit... off.

Happy Fyora Day!
Drew something a bit more 'shippy than I usually would for Fyora, but I've seen enough people talk about an Aethyora pairing that I guess this mental image made it my way xD It's also not as polished as I would usually make it, but tbh I just wanted to make something close to Fyora Day and not have it hanging over my head forever lol.
Made two versions, one with a basic bg and another that was basically a challenge to see how quickly I could put together a proper environment: |

Also excited to see a new-to-Blossoms character. Ferocious Negg! No, I mean Zaria, who has always been a character I really enjoy.

And Faeries are not, I'm a bit surprised! This seems to put them on an even playing field with other magic users. And on the magic plane they seem to glow from the inside, while the rest of them fades out? Curious dichotomy, compared with the way Zath and Jon appear!
I like the Zaira/Kari duo, in just two panels they already remind me of more and less experienced coworkers, with Zaira focusing on doing tasks right, and Kari more focused on smiling commercial presence.
Poor Cherry, getting trolled into watching Zath meditate.

The Faeries do actually have a faint color to them similar to the Neggs, but just for a specific part of their bodies! I was nearly tempted to make Taelia full color, but I decided against the idea as I figured it'd lessen the visual impact of the blue markings on her arms. Yay, that was exactly the dynamic I was going for! Zaira the younger employee is working hard just to make sure she does her job right, and then Kari has had plenty years' experience for this all to be second nature. Also hence why Zaira is much quicker to break the helpful employee attitude to tell a spooky story to the first person she can.
Haha, I like to imagine that for a second, Zathandria actually did think she could show Cherry a cool magic trick, but in her excitement she forgot that Cherry wouldn't be able to see her magic!sona.
Haha, can't say that I'm too sorry for that >w> I'm glad that she's worthy of such a title! Thanks to you and June Scarlet for the kind comments so far! :3 |
