Oooh they do both have the aura! back in the Talk it looked more ambient to me when they were sitting together, but after seeing it cling to Zathandria in Heart to Heart, now I see that it emanates from them both. Ah right, if Jonathon had it while walking and it was trailing behind him, that might criss cross over the background icicles. oh but it would look so cool though And yes that was intrigue about Zathandria's motivations and looking forward to reveals! She sounded so casual to me when offering to be trained for Jonathon's job, I wonder what she really thinks of possibly taking up said job.

Haha that's another thing I hate to admit, that I don't usually take note of the brushes I use for certain effects. As such, they may look different between comics if I don't remember what I used. Zathandria's aura specifically, I swear it felt like I went through every brush I had, but none seemed to look like the effects in The Talk. I dunno what I did to make that original look, but lol I hope I can rediscover it soon xD But random rant about my disorganization aside, yee it may be worth trying it out with Jonathon's panels :3
Ah, gotcha! Yeah, Zathandria is an interesting one with her decisions, really makes one wonder what she's thinking (if anything at all) xD

Today's thought on Part 8 of Heart to Heart - ntwriters.proboards.com/post/2734405/threadNotice I said thought, not theory, because I really doubt it's going in this direction, but it's still a fun thought. So there's the text that goes "SEE YOU SEE YOU SEE YOU" over and over again. Actually not sure if it's Jon's or something else, but I'm guessing it's something else. But the fun part about this text is that the black font is sort of glitchy looking, while the green font is sort of alien looking.
Anyway, for whatever reason, my mind has begun thinking about things like, "Oh, what if Blossoms was actually science fiction" and "glitches in reality." Like, maybe the world of Neopia is actually a simulation, and tapping into the framework of that is how magic works in this world. Which of course would be very Meta, seeing that Neopets is a computer game.
(It's an awful lot of thought for what amounts to a font choice, I know. Still, I thought you might enjoy it.)

Ooh yay, you noticed the fonts' details! I wouldn't discredit the thought you put into it, because the font choices were indeed very deliberate ;3 Whether or not they imply that this is all a simulation, though, that's yet to be found out >w> I definitely encourage your thinking of "glitchy" and "alien" at least!
Little do you all know, I've been creating NQIII this entire time!

Part 8! Wow this escalated, this is moving fast, look at this delicious juicy confrontation! I like Jon's expression in the third panel, he looks somewhat sceptical, confused and disappointed all at once. The aura around his cloak is super pretty. The movement of Zathandria's gown going poomf is delightful, it somehow reinforces her cheeky demeanour.
I've always liked how fluid your comics are and this is more visible than ever - to me - in the magic dimension here, as the path that they run on seems to flow into Zathandria's explody spell, and Jon seems to be standing on the explosion itself or on cracking ground. The chase scene almost loops on itself, and the total absence of line borders between panels reinforces my impression of a place where space and time work differently from the material plane! I see you, you little hehehe, what do you think you're laughing at you ice cave lizard magic thingies?? As for the See You spell, it also seems glitchy and matrix-y to me, its font surprised me. I'm very tempted to interpret it as Jonathon's magic, even though there's no residue of it on him in the next panel. Perhaps because the green of it matches his own eyes, and given how space seems to work differently here, it would make sense to me that he would use magic to quick-step his way over to Zathandria.
Now, if Jon is using robot-y looking magic, clearly we've cracked the big reveal, readers. Jon was a robot all along!!1! =O
But if it's not him doing that, then that is, um. A Concern!!!!!! I am interpreting that final burst of flame as a defensive wall put up by Zathandria as she's affected by the See You spell. And Jon just looks amazing in those final panels, his costume design works so super well, I'm still not over it.
To me, Zathandria's reaction echoes how she dodged Twillie's question two(?) issues ago. This has been thrilling, and I am really hoping for a bit of a debriefing later to confirm what was going on.

i'm just letting everyone know that #TeamZath is the correct team to be on, and that jonathan is the cause of his own problems and should stop repressing things and start explaining them, zath can do no wrong

Dug this sketch from February back up and got it to a basic finished state! I feel like I can still push it, but for now I'll leave it be and move onto other things, as I don't have a clear vision of what else I want from it right now. Either way, i'm happy how it's turned out so far!

I'm not done with these two yet!! I've been working to update my art portfolio, and something I want to show more in it is character relationships. Since I have a strong sense of how these two interact, I figure they'd make for some good pieces (plus I'll take any excuse to draw cute stuff >w>). This piece I'm starting from scratch, but I'm actually taking the smart route and planning out its composition first Wanted to post it in this state so I don't get discouraged while brainstorming, lol. Holds me accountable! Also, I made a slight adjustment to the pink park illustration and added a border. I think I like it better this way? It makes the wandering path easier to read at least, I think:

I BRING YOU MORE OF THESE TWO They're rough sketches for now, but uh yeah, I guess by "character relationships" I just meant this one xD Cooking antics and banter:

I have an update on the cuddles pic, and it's to the point where I just need to figure out a background (the hardest part xD). Probably should have thought of that sooner, but it is what it is lol. I also started an original background piece, and while it doesn't look like much now, hopefully soon it'll become more impressive. Most of the detail is gonna come from the coloring of the sky, but for now gotta get the basic composition laid out first.

I got inspiration for some Neopian holiday-themed comics, and tonight I sketched part of an UsukiCon idea. The joke I want to flesh out is that Lily likes to attend UsukiCon, but doesn't actually care about the dolls as much. She just likes an excuse to dress as fanciful as she can x3

An update on my cooking antics piece, something that I knew would take some time to finish but in practice still feels like it's taking longer than expected xD I added in the rest of the background, and I've also been wrestling with the colors. Coloring is far from being my strong suit, so it's taken a few tries to find something I like. I'm digging the cool tones (despite originally envisioning this to be a warmer piece), and I think I'm ready to move on to background colors. Those will probably take a lot of tries and failures to figure out as well lol, but hopefully I can figure them out.

I started this piece a couple weeks ago I believe, although like always its colors have me stumped xD The woman's hair is black, and I'm trying to figure out how to color it in while keeping all the detail lines visible. My usual method with black hair is to use an "off-black" or very dark grey, but when I used that here, the hair lines still got lost. Her colors also resemble Esmeralda from Disney's Hunchback to me (black hair, green eyes, gold jewelry), which I also don't know how to fix because her hair and eye colors are pretty set in stone xD I might change her jewelry? I dunno if it'd be enough. But yeah, I might have to get creative with the colors, but I really like how the lines came out! I've also been rereading some of the How to Train Your Dragon books, which inspired me to draw some scenes from them. Before doing that, I wanted to practice my personal imagining of book Hiccup, which is heavily influenced by concept art of him for the movie. Here's my studies of said concept art, some of them just basic recreations and some original to me:

Hm, on the piece with the woman, maybe if you had the background be a sunset, and then you could shade the hair with golden highlights, or maybe change the line to be a color besides black? I did that with this piece here, for example, I made Ronjono herself dark black, but had the lineart be gray. www.neopets.com/~dorothy_scarlet#105 postimg.cc/Hr5VM17kUsually I just use the dark grey method myself for her fur.

I was imagining the scene to take place around sunset or nighttime, so that might be my best bet indeed. There's also going to be a bonfire off to the left (unseen) I planned to use for the light source, but I may add a second with a low sun just for some extra highlight.
I considered lightening the hair details with different color lines, but I don't usually like how it turns out in my stuff. I worry it may look too stylized for the kind of illustration this is, but it can also be hard to tell when the surrounding colors aren't filled in yet. I'll keep that option in mind as well just in case.
