I got a proper adult full-time museums job that will match my skills and experience and allow for career progression. It's also local to me so I only have to move if I want to.

My job hunt is over, FINALLY.

It's only for a year, but it's such a wide, varied role. I'll have a ton of great skills and experience to carry over to my next job hunt.

this is really a mini-gloat, more like a teeny-tiny-gloat, but

I made a comment on a youtube video, and the creator gave it a heart! But I didn't notice he had, and I edited it to fix a typo I had made. In case you don't know, when you edit a hearted comment, the heart goes away. (Which makes sense. I mean, imagine if you could edit your comment to say ANYTHING and make it look like the creator loved it? that'd be a whole can of worms) But ANYWAY. After I had edited it, the creator noticed and gave it a heart again! <3 That made me really happy because I was disappointed about messing that up. So, yay! =D Shoutout to them for making me smile! ^_^

First day of autumn here and it feels like fall weather! That's nice how it turned out like that, it's not unusual for the weather to start cooling down until October :3 (haven't checked weekly forecast, so the cool weather today may not be consistent, but still I like how nice it is right now!)

So.... I just bought and installed a new router system in our home! I was getting fed up with the internet constantly dropping. While the modem was upstairs, our old router was downstairs, basically in the worst spot it could possibly be... Under the stairs, basically in a closet, surrounded by lots of wood and a fair amount of metal. Due to the complexity of the set-up, I was resigned to the fact that we may not be able to move the router from its current location. But... my brother and I decided to tackle the router location issue as well.

And... Oh my goodness. The issue may not have been the router. It may not have even been the location of the router. A Spectrum/Charter technician said it was "a mess" up there, and he was NOT kidding. We had MULTIPLE Ethernet cables all connected together with multiple cheap couplers. But no more! We have the primary router right by the modem now (both upstairs) and the two secondary ones in the basement and my bedroom. I'm literally chuckling at how long we lived with this setup. "A mess" is an understatement for what we had going on down there. And there's still a full set of unconnected wires that we think AT&T left behind like... 15 years ago. Looking forward to stable internet at home!! And kind of excited that my brother and I were able to tackle that mess together.

When a job is willing to be as flexible as you require/want as long as the work gets done. c: I can work from home on some days, fiddle around with my time as needed in order to meet other committments in my life, and even the "mandatory" leave I have to take over Christmas is not necessary if I want to save it for other things. Officially I got to take it, unofficially we can work something out.

Also my boss was pleased with the first task I completed, aside from requesting a few minor and easy to make changes. Take that, impostor syndrome!

I love getting compliments on my masks. I've got a small hoard of pretty and cute ones by this stage, and thematic ones (like the Pokemon one that only gets worn at gamestore work), and it's nice to have the effort I put into my presentation acknowledged!

Thanks to some unexpected paychecks (ones which I was admittedly stressed about as mentioned in the server, since I originally felt that they had to be a mistake), I finally am back in therapy — something which I missed going to back in 2009, and only managed to get two of in 2018 following my half-week inpatient stay the previous December. It also makes it the second appointment that I've ever set up by myself.

Given the irrational dread that's been surrounding my current trip (on top of multiple concerns given my short-term and long-term goals), this was an absolute necessity. Even the anticipation for the next appointment is enough to keep me afloat.

Thanks to Covid, I've been working from home. While it has its ups and downs, I am so glad to be working from home and not commuting to work as earlier today, Ontario was hit with a winter storm (33 cm in the city of Toronto).

My eleven month class that started in March 2021 is finally complete! I'm barely going to know what to do with my Wednesday nights now! And I now feel confident in JavaScript and React and a few other things. Overall, it's a good.

I don't often treat myself to expensive purchases.

But I bought new boots today.

Been wanting these for years. c: And they look amazing. Plus they were a third off original price.

This new job is one of the best things that’s happened to me in a long while: it’s surprisingly fun, it gives me relief given my financial situation, and it’s one step closer to finally having a social life.

Getting approved for my second ever credit card feels so satisfying and reminds me of how much progress I'm finally making...

No longer working at the terrible job that's been giving me stress, woo! Finally have some time to heal a bit... well needed.


Also... receiving the literal nicest thank you card from the folks I worked with and a little birdy ornament for my desk.
