Hanna was dropped onto a bed, and still the mansion man was trying to convince her of his innocence, and still Hanna was not convinced. Then Alexa came in, with Geoffrey, and much arguing commenced, and there was so much noise! And still the smell of smoke permeated the air, growing stronger by the moment.
"GEOFFREY!" Hanna pleaded with her brother. "Geoffrey, make them stop talking! The mansion, it's made everyone mad!"
And that smoke... wasn't anyone else noticing the smoke? Clearly not, because the prince and the ginger, and Geoffrey, had not so much as mentioned it. Was it... was she going crazy? Was this the mansion's newest ploy, putting scents in her nose? Hanna sniffled and rubbed at the second screwdriver, still in her pocket. She considered stabbing the prince again, because he was the mansion and all, but apparently he had not been very impacted by the first stabbing. Which made sense, because he was a mansion, and it was hard to stab mansions, Hanna knew, from her experience with stabbing the shed.

There was a sharp CRACK! and the lock on the door disintegrated. Manuel came violently crashing through the door with a smoking revolver in one hand, and a smoking pipe in the other. "Now look what I found just laying around in the shed. Who keeps a perfectly good revolver in their -shed-? Anyway, the more mathematically inclined of us here will have worked out that I've got 5 more left in this thing so let's all be sensible people and lower our weapons, eh?"
Truth be told, weaponry was not Sir Adventure's strong point. Sure he'd gone through military training, but that was several decades ago, the last time Manuel had fired a weapon was when he'd been invited pheasant shooting with Home Secretary a while back. At least if everyone wasn't pointing screwdrivers in his direction, they might be more inclined to listen.
"If you hadn't noticed, we have bigger problems at hand right now, such as escaping a burning building for one. So let's all be good sports and civil to one another. We can sort this whole mess out once there's no danger of us being roasted to death, and speaking as somebody who's been trapped on board a burning aircraft, that's not a fun way to go out."

Rochelle noticed the glimmer in Sergei's eye and knew that he must be thinking just what she was thinking. It took her some thinking, especially through the little haze that was now in her brain. But it seemed that she just... stumbled upon the right answer. What was wrong. Who killed Woo...
Despite Sergei's reassuring smile that they were all on the same page, Rochelle couldn't help but frown, though she directed her frown to a nearby bush. They... They would have to pay. She was certain of this.
"Rochelle, dorogaya, let's find that Prince and his prisoner. Then we tell everyone who killer is. Study? Lots of hiding places there."
Rochelle nodded to both. The reveal would have to wait. Hanna was still kidnapped. "Right. Let's go quickly."
She had begun to walk towards the Hall closest to the Study when she heard a shriek, coming from the other side of the Gardens.
"DIE, MANSION MAN! DIE, DIE, DIE!"
"Sergei, did you hear that?" Rochelle asked him.

Marvin heard the woman gasp.
"What is it?" he said, when out of nowhere something large and heavy grazed the side of his head. He let out a high-pitched yelp and jumped backwards, knocking into a table and upsetting the plant pots that had been sitting so neatly moments before. The whole ensemble fell to the floor with a crash, and Marvin grasped at the wall to try and keep himself stable.
His hand clutched onto the first thing he found - a lever conveniently placed at shoulder height. As he pulled himself up, the lever snapped down, and just like that the lights began to flicker on, one by one. It was in that moment that he realised...
"Miss Erika," he said in a raspy voice. "I know who the murderer is."

Remembering the grilled cheese sandwich maker in his purse, Snaw opened the plastic appliance and pulled out a fresh sandwich. "Erika, do you like yours with ham?" asked Snaw.

"Mr Adventurer, I am going nowhere with you nor anyone else. Forget the fire. Although perhaps someone may want to go and collect the body of Woo from the ice sculpture. The fire isn't even close to being out of hand yet."
The prince turned to Hanna. "You are not making this easy, are you. And by the way, we must talk about how to properly stab an assailant. You barely broke the skin... Then again, my wardrobe does help with that. Still, I'm going to be quite bruised from that and your kick."
And then to Alexa. "How about we lower that lead pipe now?"

Erika heard a gasp too.
"Oh!" she cried out as she heard plants fall to the floor. "Dr. Medlis!"
Suddenly, the lights came on.
"Miss Erika," he said in a raspy voice. "I know who the murderer is."
"Who?"
Then Snaw offered her a sandwich.
"Thank you, but I just..."
She sighed, repeatedly tossing her cat pendant in the air.

The basement was on fire.
Minerva was quite settled in her opinion that everyone in this mansion was mad, and this only made her more sure. Because the basement was on fire, and nobody was doing anything about it.
"Is anyone aware this house is burning?" she screamed to no one in particular as she ran toward the fire. It was a fair size by then, and very hot. She ran around the perimeter of the basement, looking for a hose of some kind. There weren't any hoses, but Minerva found a blanket folded up on the floor and threw it over the fire. It seemed to have helped... until the flames started shooting through the blanket and burning it.
Sighing, she let go of the blanket and went off to find some other way to put out the fire.

Mori was suddenly blanketless. Where did his blanket go?! The old lady threw his blanket into the fire! That's why he usually never lets his blanket leave his body! Now he had no blanket! WHAT WILL HE DO?!
He stands glaring at Minerva.

Obi exited the fort and blinked as Mori suddenly snapped back to awareness of his surroundings.
"Hi."
Then he noticed the fire that had suddenly begun to rage in the basement.
If all went well, Woo's statue would finally melt and the hysteria would finally end, but the latest update to his medium awareness chip told him that it would at least be a couple more weeks, which saddened him deeply.
But right now he just wanted to find Rob, especially if he was off firing flammable rocket fists at anything that moved again.
He joined the recluse and the old lady outside of the collapsing fort and asked whether they were trained to operate a standard fire extinguisher.

"That's Group Captain Adventure, your highness," He angrily took a puff on his pipe. He didn't have time for formalities or royal protocol, not even bothering to state his full title. "And you may wish to stay here while this mansion descends into an inferno, but I doubt your kidnapping victim feels the same way. So just let her go and you can enjoy the fire in peace and quiet."
This was not a situation he was enjoying, just a few hours ago he'd been wandering aimlessly round the party, eating, drinking, meeting, greeting, now here he was with a pistol in his hand attempting to bargain with some sort of royal turned hostage taker.

Alexa lowered the lead pipe, but kept a firm grip on it, ready to use it if she had to. She had thought the smell of smoke was from the explosion in the hall, but the older military gentleman was saying otherwise.
"Hanna, come here," she said. "Prince Stal won't stop you with the good gentleman holding a pistol on him. We should all get out of here, as fast as we can. Still, a fire, a murder, and the kidnapping, but the night's not over yet. I'm starting to agree with Hanna, this house is cursed, and we should go before we all die."
She smiled at Prince Stal, a wry, tired smile. "Well, you've grand scenes, haven't you? Happy now?"

He was glad that Rochelle took the knowledge well. In truth, Sergei did not know what she would do, considering her feelings for Mr. Woo. However, he was prepared to do what it took to calm her down, to be there for her if she needed. For now, she seemed like she would be able to handle it.
His head shot up as he heard Hanna scream. Well, it was more like a wild battle cry from a berserker but it was still unmistakably her. At the same time, his moustache twitched as he smelled fire. Smoke was curling up from the floorboards, doing a pretty poor impersonation of his facial hair but this was a sign of a bigger problem than just the kidnapping. He heard more shouts coming from that general direction.
However, Sergei kept his cool. He had learned to deal with far worse situations than this one and that was saying a lot. The fire was a lot more dangerous than a kidnapper who was already takenc are of, judging from all the shouting. He recognised one of the voices as Sir Adventure so the situation was clearly in good hands.
With that, Sergei turned to Rochelle.
"Go. Help them. I need to take care of fire," he said and started towards the library before turning back to Rochelle. It did not seem right to leave such a pretty girl as unceremoniously as that. Or even leave Rochelle like that for the matter. So Sergei turned back around, picked up her hand and kissed it. "I shall return."
It was something that he admitted was unnecessary. But it was still good to do.
He ran through the library and downstairs into the basement where the strange, pale man was glaring at an old lady, seemingly ignoring the fire while another person was asking about fire extinguishers.. Sergei looked around but he could see none. However, he spotted an old water tank obviously meant for the boiler and rushed over to it. Tapping it, he discovered that it was relatively thin metal with an insulating layer inside and that it was stone cold but he could hear water sloshing around inside. Perfect.
Sergei reached around for his cavalry sabre. It was something he brought as a mere decoration and of course to impress any lady who wanted a demonstration of his skills but right now he had a more pressing need for it. He took it out of its scabbard and stabbed the water tank clean through, wriggling around his sabre to make the hole bigger. Water rushed out of the tank in a stream and spread across the floor. Three very convenient buckets stood around and Sergei grabbed two of them, throwing them at Minerva and Obi.
"Put out fire! I deal with him!" he yelled and strode over to Mori. He put his arm around him and reached into his boot. This was one he kept only for emergencies and as a result, he did not have much but this boy seemed like he could not hold his drink. A little would relax him.
Sergei took out the last of his flasks, uncorked it and thrust it into Mori's hand, all while keeping a firm hand on him.
"Drink. Make you feel better," he said, grinning widely.

Mori was about to respond to Obi, opening his mouth. But he quickly shuts it, and pulls out a pen and paper. Scribbling on the paper he holds it out for Obi to read.
"Hello? Who are you? What a nice fire we have today isn't it? Can I go home now?"
He stands there waiting for a reply when Sergei grabs him and makes him drink something from his boot. Boot liqueur?! What was this crazy man thinking? Mori has never touched the stuff. Well, that's not totally true, he once drank a shot of something. He didn't remember the next several hours after drinking it....
Mori looks around wildly not sure what was going on. It takes a few moments for whatever this boot liquid took effect. His face flushed bright red as the blood flowed through his pale skin. He looked at Sergei. His shining hair. His powerful mustache. His bright eyes. He didn't know who this man was. He didn't care. This man was special. Now Mori, he was into girls, at least 2D girls, but girls none the less. But Sergei. Sergei was special.
