Icon grinned. "And thus the Dork Knight rises," he commented with good-natured raillery.
Terra smiled at the pun. Nice one, she thought.
He noticed her looking at his soda- "Oh, sorry, d'you want a can?" He asked, bending over the scooter to reach for one. "I'm personally not a huge fan of Dunburrow Dry, too strong for my taste, but the local vending machine only stocks that and Cherry Coke, so..." He shrugged, then tossed the can Terrawards.
Terra reached for the can and barely managed to catch the can--then it fell and bounced out of her hands several more times before she was able to get a good grasp on it.
"Thanks," she said. "Dunburrow Dry is far more preferable than Cherry Coke, I agree. At least the vending machine doesn't stock Achyfi, though, amirite?"
And then Terra leaned over and dropped a gossipbomb about the CarrQuie Emporium. "Yeah, I guess so," he replied. "I mean, if you're going to say that you might as well say-"
Terra jumped when she heard several beeps and clicks come from Icon's scooter. "What--"
"Ah, shoot, let me take care of this," he said to Terra apologetically as he picked up his headset. "Hey Lizica, yeah. Yeah, I'm on lunch now." A pause. "A swarm at the Library‽ Of course they would target that, how did we mess up there? Oof, the Librarian's going to kill me, I'll head out right away." He shouldered the headset.
"Sorry about that, Terra, gotta head out. See you around!" he called back, already on the scooter and halfway down the street.
"Was that an interrobang I heard--‽" she shouted indignantly after him. "That's my thing!"
She watched him leave, disappointed at the sudden disappearance of her company. Now she'd have to find someone else to harass while diligently ignoring task at hand.
She glanced around and caught sight of a ghost pony and anthropomorphic tiger wielding red paint.
"HEY, ERR BEHRS!" she yelled. "YOU'RE MAKING AT LEAST AS MANY ERRORS AS YOUR NAMESAKE, AND THAT'S A LOW ESTIMATE! YOU'D BETTER QUIT WHILE YOU'RE AHEAD! OR SHOULD I SAY, WHILE YOU'RE NOT TOO FAR BEHIND?"

Round Four Summary - Amberworks spent the day cleaning up their mess from yesterday. Poor Amberworks. :( They currently have 7 buildings painted.
- Err Behr painted Games and Interactive Arcade (C8). This tile is a landmark! Games and Interactive Arcade: After painting the arcade, you decide to take a small break and play some of the classic games like Whack-a-Mod and NTWF Kart. Seven hours later...you realize you've spent all your time playing games! Lose a turn. They currently have 6 buildings painted.
- Two Blue-Hued Kangaroos painted Memory Lane (H6). This tile is a landmark! Memory Lane Museum: Walking right down Memory Lane has you in a nostalgic mindset, thinking of days since past. You long for the simpler times--say, three rounds ago. As if by magic, three random houses in town change before your very eyes, reverting to their colors of three days ago. These buildings are Nut's house (G9), The Welcome Mat (H8), and Reviews and Clues Theater (E3). They currently have 8 buildings painted.
- Oh, the Hue-manity! Inc. painted PFA's house (I7). They currently have 7 buildings painted.
- CarQuie's Pizza, Pie, and Paint Emporium painted Icon's house (F2). This tile contained a powerup! Paint Mixup: It seems the supplies store messed up your order and gave you the wrong paint! Oddly enough, you didn't seem to notice until AFTER you finished painting. Oops. The building is painted the color of a random other company. The house is instead painted the color of Two Blue-Hued Kangaroos. They currently have 5 buildings painted.
- Terrobble Paint Jobs painted Goron's house (I5). They currently have 8 buildings painted.

It's hard to be neat when you're constantly swatting at dangerous mosquitoes.
Lizica had spent a great while working in the lab trying to settle on the perfect consistency for the paint. If it was too thin, mosquitoes wouldn't be trapped in it; too thick, and it wouldn't spread and the buildings would look awful. She was beginning to wonder, however, if maybe she and Icon actually had quite a long way to go before really perfecting their methods. Lizica now wished that she had thought to coat a net with paint so she could just cast that over all the mosquitoes buzzing around the Pen's Point Library.*
...As it was, however, Lizica was trying to hunt down the bugs by painting the library with her arsenal of paintbrushes and toothbrushes. And somehow in the frenzy she had splattered the library's very rare original manuscript of Dr. Michael Tiemgeee's The Elusive Success: Why Your Trope Doesn't Work. She apologized profusely to the librarians a thousand times, explaining that it was for science!...but it didn't seem to help much. At least she had alerted Icon so she wouldn't have to battle the angry swarm of mosquitoes and librarians on her own.
Wiping her hands on her yellow smock, Lizica carefully knelt by her messy kit ("Don't kneel on the carpet! Keep your paint off the carpet!" shrieked one of the more uptight librarians.) and tried to find some paint thinner and cleaning supplies. She wondered if all the painting companies were having such problems.
*(For some reason, the thought of nets made her crave waffles, but unfortunately, the one time CarQuie's Pizza & Pie Emporium had tried selling waffles, she had come down with salmonella, which was very inconvenient because it had kept her from coming into Amberworks for a whole week and some paint samples had dried up and practically fossilized.)

Two Blue-Hued Kangaroos' entry in the short story library: When he heard the rumors that everyone was forming paint companies to give the town a good repainting, Kozma decided that he would not have any part of it, for he was afraid of paint. Don’t ask me how or why this absurd phobia developed because he was rather ashamed of it and he would not like it if I shared this secret with you in further detail (when he finds out I’ve told you about this secret phobia of paint, he’s not going to be too pleased with me). Kozma avoided paint whenever it was possible so he would not have any part in repainting the town. However, when he heard that some of his friends were participating in this event, he decided he would like to participate as well.
“But how am I going to be in a paint company when I am so afraid of paint?” Kozma said to Sapphire, his toy kangaroo. Sapphire said nothing because she was a toy and toys, as you know, can’t say anything. “I really would like to join in with my friends but how do I conquer my fears?” Kozma paced nervously around, desperately thinking of a way to get over his paint phobias; Sapphire, on the other hand, just sat there. “I could wear a hazmat suit while I paint, but I’d probably look ridiculous; don’t you think Sapphire?”
Sapphire said nothing.
“Maybe I could develop telekinetic powers so I don’t have to physically touch the paintbrushes; do we have any spoons I could bend?”
Sapphire still said nothing.
“What if I build a robot that would do the painting for me?” Kozma stated in a moment of brilliance. “Sapphire, bring me some scrap metal, a lot of wire and the cookie jar!”
Sapphire just sat there with a blank look on her face.
So Kozma raced about the house to look for metal. He started in the basement because he figured that would be the best place to look. “Let’s see, we got some water pipes and some air ducts I can rip down, that water heater and furnace would provide a lot of good metal, I got some tools and wire in the workshop.” As he went into the workshop he stumbled upon some old paint cans. “Ooh! These paint cans would be great to use. I just need to empty them out first!”
Now Kozma is not one to be wasteful and he decided the best way to get rid of the paint was to use it to… paint. So Kozma opened up one of the cans so he could use it to paint so he could use the paint cans to build a robot that would paint for him. Well, Kozma then realized that he didn’t have time to build a robot before everyone started painting the town. As he looked at the open paint can, Kozma had another bright idea.
“I’ll use this paint to help paint the town!” he stated delightfully. Then I’ll use the money I’ve earned to buy a robot to paint for me! It’s BRILLIANT!!!”
With that statement, Kozma brought up all the cans of paint, which happened to be sapphire-blue (he liked sapphire-blue) and then made plans to go out to form a company with some of his forum friends. “This is great, isn’t it Sapphire?” said Kozma. “Soon we’ll have a robot that will do all of the painting for me and then I won’t have to worry about paint anymore!”
Sapphire said nothing. And, Kozma has created an entry for the Color Clash badge!

Terra was on her way across town to paint Goron's house when she noticed that the paint had disappeared off the Reviews and Clues Theater.
"WHAT."
The building had somehow returned to its previously unpainted state! It was all ugly again - although, to be honest, her and Robyn's paint job had been rather Terrobble, but STILL.
"WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE UNDOING OF OUR HARD WORK?" Terra demanded - not speaking to anybody in particular, but rather to anyone within earshot. "SHOW YOURSELVES!"
She pointed at several random passersby. "Did YOU magically revert this building to the state it was in before Terrobble Paint Jobs painted this building? Did you? Did YOU?!"
She brandished her paint brush threateningly.

Fluffle glanced at Kozma. He didn't look so good. He looked like he needed a cupca--no, he was living, wasn't he? Despite his blue coat, it took less than a second for Fluffle to jump to the conclusion that he was alive. A living, breathing kangaroo who couldn't eat her cupcakes even if she offered one to him. She merely licked him on the cheek, nearly recoiling at the fluffy texture of his fur. Euurgh. She'd have to get that off of her tongue when she wasn't looking. Azzie snatched her paintball gun back from Fluffle, muttering about something. She seemed ticked because they had been in the Arcade the entire day and ON THE FOURTH OF JULY, NO LESS! Fluffle had thought the explosions from Ms. Kit-Man had been a touch too realistic. Fluffle trotted outside, with her companions and gazed at the town. A lot of it was painted, but they weren't seeing red. As Err Behr, this was bad. "PBBPLTPBT!" Fluffle raspberried, pointing to a white building. She dragged out one of her paintball guns from her fluff, and this one was made for ponies. Her voice itched from lack of speaking. "W....wait, wait..." she muttered. Fluffle put on a pair of sunglasses. It was time. PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW, said her paintball gun, coating the building and any unfortunate passersby who happened to walk that way in red paint... Kozma was still pondering how he'd get revenge on Fluffle for shooting him; if he'd get revenge on her at all. While he can be a bit irritable, it is hard for him to maintain a bad temper. His anger had subsided quite a bit and he wasn't sure if he wanted to bother getting revenge on the pony. Then he and fluffle crossed paths again.
He looked over and saw that she was glancing at him. "What is she doing now?" thought Kozma, "planning to shoot me again?"
Then she did something that completely shocked him - she LICKED HIM ON THE CHEEK!!! Kozma stood there speechless while Fluffle went back to Azzie.
"What was that all about?" thought Kozma. "Was that a pony kiss? Was that to say sorry for shooting me?" Kozma could have asked Fluffle what that was about but by the time he came to his senses, she was busy pelting a nearby building, along with some unfortunate civilians, with another paintball gun.
Then he overheard Terra.
"WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE UNDOING OF OUR HARD WORK?" she screamed. "SHOW YOURSELVES!"
She was around the Reviews and Clues Theater. Kozma quickly fled because he had was the one responsible for getting it reverted back into an unpainted building. Kozma didn't want to face her wrath; she was always shouting. He did not dare think of what nasty things she would say to him if she found out what he did.
Kozma fled for several blocks before he decided it was safe to stop. When he saw that no one else was around he began to feel lonely again because his business partner, Draco, still wasn't around to help him.
"Gee," said Kozma. "This is turning out to be a fun contest," he muttered sarcastically. He had to work very hard to keep up with his competitors and he wasn't interacting with anyone as much as he'd hoped. "I have to wonder if that robot is even worth it."
Kozma sat there being all glum and gloomy for several minutes. Eventually, he decided that he needed to get back to work but before he did, there was someone he needed to get.
"I know who'll help me!" he said. "My good friend, Sapphire!" With that he raced home to get his toy kangaroo.

Post by Tiger on Jul 6, 2013 12:34:14 GMT -5
"Brilliant!" Tiger shouted, stepping back from the red walls of her house. "Why didn't I think of offering up my house for paint first thing?"
"Because red is a horrible color for this house?" a Darigan Eyrie grumbled, leaning out one of the second-story windows. "Ugh. I'm going back to the house in Brightvale. You got it back, why are we still stuck here?"
"Because it was convenient for this post!" Tiger scooped up a cluster of paint rollers. "So - that's my house claimed for Team Err Behr - we should go get Azzie's house back! And find Fluffle's roleplayer's place!" This was all so exciting - Tiger was tempted to get out her sketchbook and start making lists again.
As Tiger's Neopets evacuated the now very-red house, Tiger met up with Fluffle and headed out in search of Azzie. On the way, they were very-rudely hassled by Terra; "HEY, ERR BEHRS!" she yelled. "YOU'RE MAKING AT LEAST AS MANY ERRORS AS YOUR NAMESAKE, AND THAT'S A LOW ESTIMATE! YOU'D BETTER QUIT WHILE YOU'RE AHEAD! OR SHOULD I SAY, WHILE YOU'RE NOT TOO FAR BEHIND?"
"HEY TERRA!" Tiger shouted back, reaching under her painting smock for her paintball gun. "SHUT UP!" She fired several paintballs at Terra and her paint buckets. "WHY ARE WE TALKING IN CAPSLOCK EXACTLY?"
That denizen taken care of, Tiger turned to phase through time and help Fluffle take down the blandness of a white house with the power of paintball guns. After a few minutes, however, Tiger said, "Y'know, I think this is fine for detail work, buuut for the base coat, we might need to stick with the rollers." Her eyes lit up behind the glasses she'd forgotten to draw on her avatar. "Unless one of our team can build a /paint grenade/?"

"HEY TERRA!" Tiger shouted back, reaching under her painting smock for her paintball gun. "SHUT UP!" She fired several paintballs at Terra and her paint buckets. "WHY ARE WE TALKING IN CAPSLOCK EXACTLY?"
"AAARGH!" This whole paint affair was just ruining Terra's best clothes! Which were all her clothes, because she had impeccable taste. Not to mention knocking over their paint supplies! Terra recoiled as she saw black paint pour out of the nearest bucket, all over her shoes--
"YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS!" Terra shouted. "AND WE'RE TALKING IN CAPSLOCK BECAUSE CAPSLOCK IS FOR WINNERS AND ANGSTY ADOLESCENTS IN WAR SITUATIONS! THE LATTER OF WHICH DESCRIBES BOTH OF US, BUT THE FORMER OF WHICH ONLY DESCRIBES ME."
She waved her brush in Tiger's direction, splattering black paint at her.
Which was really rather pathetic compared to the paintball guns that Tiger had fired at her.
Gonna have to get myself one of those, thought Terra, rubbing her shoulder at one of the spots where she'd gotten hit with the red paint. It was only then that she realized that it had actually hurt her, in addition to ruining her jacket beyond all repair.
