Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is one of my favorite games of all time. So I really, really, REALLY hope this new Paper Mario ends up being a return to form. As I understand it, the Paper Mario series has kind of lost its way for the past few games. (Like I saw one person put it, the developers of the more recent games tried to reinvent the wheel and decided it should be a square instead) I'm cautiously optimistic, but a bit more the former than the latter, so I think I'll wait until the game comes out and people have played it before deciding whether to buy it myself. One other thing to note is that this announcement lends some credence to rumor that's been floating around for a little while now: Apparently Mario's 35th anniversary this year will be seeing a lot of remakes, remasters, and re-releases of older titles, including 64, Sunshine, and both Galaxies. Super Mario 64 was the first video game I was ever truly captivated by, so if the rumors are true, I'd be pumped to be able to play that again. (And maybe even actually beat it - I wasn't very good at video games as a kid. ) A new Paper Mario was part of this lineup, so that's where this rumor may have some truth to it. Another separate, but possibly related rumor, that included Paper Mario was the announcement of a new 2D Metroid. Which makes that Metroid gag at the end of the trailer pretty suspicious. If it's true, I'm also intrigued by that. I played Super Metroid as my very first Metroid game just last year on my SNES Classic, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. That rumour has been confirmed, thanks to a Super Mario Brothers 35th Anniversary Direct released earlier today The games that you've mentioned, 64, Sunshine and Galaxy, are in fact, coming as 1 game package, Super Mario 3D All-stars, as a limited time physical and digital copy

Just a quick reminder, if you haven't done so, but you have until the end of March to either get the physical copy or download the digital version for two games/franchises celebrating their milestone anniversaries: Fire Emblem-Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light (30th anniversary for the Fire Emblem series) and Super Mario 3D All Stars (35th anniversary for the Super Mario series)

The long drought finally comes to an end; there will be a 50-minute Nintendo Direct tomorrow at 2:00 PM PST / 5:00 PM EST. To give you an idea just how long it's been, the last time we had a full, general Nintendo Direct was in September of 2019. There's nothing quite like the hype that a Nintendo Direct generates, so I'm very glad to see their return.
The announcement specifically mentioned Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so I think we can safely expect the reveal of the next fighter tomorrow. Aside from that, I'm excited for the possibility of some news on Breath of the Wild 2. I wouldn't hold my breath on any Pokemon news though, since that's more likely to come next week to coincide with its 25th anniversary on the 27th.

Monster Hunter Rise is coming out next week, which is an opportune time for me to brag that tonight I completed my Dual Blades collection in Generations Ultimate after roughly 755 hours of playtime. That is to say, I've crafted and fully upgraded every set of Dual Blades in the game, no matter how good or bad they are. So I get to have nine days to bask in my achievement before starting it all over again. On the subject of Rise, anyone else here getting it? I skipped World/Iceborne (I don't have a PS4 or XBox One, and my laptop is literally falling apart), so I feel like I'm going to have a lot to get used to. Just from what I've played of the demo, I can already tell that I'll need to spend some time adjusting to the smoother controls, since I'm so used to the jankiness of classic Monster Hunter. xD

If I ever get a Switch, Rise is a game I'm considering. Though, there are a number of Switch games that I want to get first, so it'll be lower priority.
World/Iceborne was great, and I'd like to see the franchise continue to head in that direction. I don't wanna go back to clunky controls or the old armour system ever again. XD

I'm thinking of getting Rise, want to wait to see what people say about it first though.

So I got Rise.
Disappointed I can't do story missions with friends, but the hub missions have a lot to do at least. Some of the weapons feel off or changed to, so got to get used to them.

I am facing a video game related Dilemma, so I thought...why not get some Thoughts here??? =O
I have never bought a console myself, they have always been gifts or free hand-me-downs! My xbox 360 was my brother's, my 3DS was my best friend's and THEN my brother's. But this year, I intend to either buy:
-Nintendo switch lite, the new dark blue version (so pretty! Also lots of games I want to play are only available on that console, like Fire Emblem, Bravely Second and Animal Crossing! I'm not going for the full switch because it's quite a bit more expensive and only one of the games I'm interested in doesn't have a handheld mode- and it's only Just Dance, which I can live without.)
-Xbox one x (my brother is upgrading to a series x as soon as he can actually find one, and would sell me his old console for under 300 NZ, which is significantly less than the switch at 350NZ at best. I could play Destiny 2 on this, which I'm interested in; and Immortals Phoenix Rising, which I am also interested in but which is also available on the switch. I could also play the Just Dance series, which isn't really doable with a switch lite! But I would miss out on other games mentioned above, and also this console will stop having games made for it long before the switch does...)
Many decisions! I think switch is the more sensible option, but I get very attached to consoles and am a bit sad at the prospect of my brother's one x (which we used at our Halo-ween party with friends!) being traded away; and also really enjoying Destiny right now so the fact that Destiny 2 isn't available for switch makes me hesitate. xD Plus, the xbox would be quite a bit cheaper.

I mean, if you asked me, I would be like "Get the switch!!" but that's because I have never owned an xbox and also would love to visit your town in Animal Crossing >_> so I'll let people who are more informed give you better advice. ^^ However, I just wanted to say a new console is always exciting! Go Thorn!

I would love to visit your town too! <3 ;-; I love soft gentle games like Animal Crossing, and it's true that the nintendo switch has a good number of those compared to other consoles.
I'm most likely to get the switch so I have a current console (also, the idea of buying my first ever brand-new console makes me feel super special), and then maybe get an xbox one when their price drops a bit more, so I can play Destiny 2 and a few other games I've missed out on over the years. But we'll see!
I might even...we'll see, but I could cash out some of my holiday hours and use a portion of that to put a $50 deposit down on a preorder for the pretty new blue switch lite ($50 is the minimum I think.) This would ensure there was a unit available for me, and I can immediately transfer it to a hold once it arrives in store- and even then, if at any point I want to cancel the preorder/hold I can do so and let someone else have the pretty.

Went ahead and pre-ordered that Switch! I think it'll take me a couple months to pay off and Acquire it, but I put down the $50 deposit and am taking in some old games today to trade towards it (as this week, you get 50% extra trade credit so I may as well trade now and put it towards the Switch!)

Besides from games, I tend to look at what console I would be able to play with others at times. Like I got the Xbox Series X (1 it was easier to get then new Playstation, and 2 two friends were getting it, and 3 most of the games can be played with past console still). But I also go the Switch, which I knew, besides from my friend and his sister, there were a number of forumers who had or were getting it XD
For the Switch, I need more games I can play with others XD But Animal Crossing is always a good one.
---
I really need to pick up a SD card for my Switch. Was thinking of getting Pokemon Snap or really any other game, and noticed that most are larger then the space I have left on my Switch's internal memory. Friend said he might have a spare, but isn't sure. So either way, until I get one, I'm not getting any new games on Switch. As for Xbox... I have to many games I need to play still XD

Congrats on the new console! They're still quite tricky to get here, although yeah the playstation is more difficult (we had 4 consoles to sell the other day, and a line of 30 customers wanting them when the store opened...)
Being able to borrow games from my friends is a big draw with the Switch, but also I am pretty excited to play Animal Crossing with friends both NTWF and irl!
