It was nighttime when the Princess awoke. She was deep in the forest, all alone. The fallen angel usul was resting in a tree above, watching the Princess.
A few minutes later, the ghost usul appeared. “I have met your friends,” he spat. “And I have your necklace.”
“Who are you?” asked Princess Keari.
“I am the ghost usul, the rogue, the thief usul. I am not here to harm, not here to aid you. I am the neutral one of the usuls.”
As soon as he stopped speaking, the shadow usul appeared, and he disappeared a second later.
“Trespassers!” growled the shadow usul. “Not appreciated.”
Soon, Ryo, Maemi and Merle appeared. They were all ready to battle, and the fallen angel usul was too.
“Kind usul,” began Merle. “May you give us our Princess?”
“No, no,” said the shadow usul. “She is dangerous, must not be with other pets.”
“She is mine!” hissed the ghost usul from a bush. “She is mine! The Princess is like a jewel, a jewel I must take…”
The shadow usul stared. “Since when was she yours? You didn’t capture her, I did!”
The ghost usul jumped and grabbed the Princess. “She is now,” he said, and both disappeared.
“Where is he taking her?” demanded Merle. His eyes were full of fury and confusion.
Ryo looked up in the treetops. The fallen angel usul quickly teleported to the ground. “She is not in harm, do not worry. The ghost usul is neutral, after all, and cannot change what he is. Follow me,”
Maemi, Ryo and Merle did as told, as the shadow usul glared. “I will find her before you,”
They sped through the forest as though they were racing, and they certainly were, because the shadow usul was faster than them, and the fallen angel usul had to slow down greatly to help them.
When the ghost usul arrived in a safe area, Princess Keari sputtered, “What was that for? I could have gone home, I thought you were neutral.”
“Oh, I am,” was his reply. “All I want from you is gold, and I will release you. And you are a sorceress, you may also help me be free again.”
“Be free?” questioned the Princess. “How do you mean?”
“I was a regular usul, and then turned into a mutant. All was afraid of me, and I had no choice but to steal. It has now become my hobby, but before I was not skilled enough, and I grew so hungry and tired, I died of starvation.”
The Princess gaped. “Oh, poor you! I wish I could help. I want to help, please let me.”
“Turn me back into what I was before,” he demanded.
“I cannot do that! I am not a faerie!” the Princess complained. “I cannot help you much more than giving you gold.”
The Princes reached into her bag and took out two handfuls of gold. “Here,” she said, handing it to her.
The ghost usul took the gold and looked at it in delight. Suddenly, the shadow usul appeared, along with the fallen angel usul. Ryo, Merle, and Maemi came not long after, panting.
The shadow usul neared her, and the Princess closed her eyes and held out her staff.
“I will be of use of your power,” said the shadow usul, grinning evilly. “Co-operate or suffer the consequences.”
“No!” shouted the Princess. “I will not do such a thing; I will only help if you need aid, and not by demands.”
The shadow usul grew angry and jumped in the air. As she did, Princess Keari closed her eyes and said, “Light, lend me your strength!”
Maemi touched her flower, which was wrapped around her ear and touched it. Sighing, she plucked a petal and threw it in the air.
“Light, lend me your strength!” the Princess yelled again.
Suddenly, a huge, blinding light came. The shadow usul stumbled back, turned then disappeared from sight. She could not take the power. The fallen angel usul changed into a white colour, and a halo appeared on top of her head. Her wings became broader and more feathery. The ghost usul had a much slower process. First, his fur turned into the beige colour of a regular usul, then his face began changing from mutant to normal.
When the light disappeared, the “fallen” angel usul blinked.
“I have… I have returned into my normal angel form! I am free once again! Oh, thank you, good neopets, I will be sure to aid you anytime you would like! After all, I have to choose who to be a guardian angel of.”
“What’s going on?” asked the Princess. “What’s your story?”
A few minutes later, the ghost usul appeared. “I have met your friends,” he spat. “And I have your necklace.”
