Welcome to the Kingdom of Dunburrow, home of Knights and Mages, swords and sorcery, and everything else medieval you could desire. We are formed out of the alliance and merge of two previous guilds: the Mages and the Knights. These threads hold useful information about the Kingdom, including descriptions of our Kingdom's primary strongholds: Mage Manor (home of the mages) and Castle Kestrel (capital and home base of the knights). Please read them to gain a basic understanding of the feel of this merged guild. A few things to keep in mind -- while the Kingdom can accept any type of character, it is advisable to keep a link to at least one of these organizations (the Knights of Dunburrow or Mages of the Manor), to allow events such as roleplays to flow more smoothly and naturally. This post will, no doubt, be revised later to provide a stronger description of the Kingdom of Dunburrow as a whole. But for now -- Welcome to the Kingdom Please leave your name and a link to your character(s)'s profile (along with the name you'd like your character to be listed with), and you shall be added to our records as part of our allied defense forces. For those who are newly come to our Kingdom, please fill out this form and post it here. For those who already have a character made, feel free to look over this and add to your current form. Name: (include title, if applicable) Nickname: (optional) Appearance: (colouring, clothing, scars/tattoos, etc.) Personality: (are you honourable? calculating? out for yourself? loyal to the throne? greedy? kind?) Skills or abilities: (magic, thievery, uncannily good swordsmanship, etc.; things you have trained for, primarily) Weapons/other combat enhancers: (swords, bows, staves, wands, slingshots, claws...) Other special abilities: (can you see in the dark? walk silently through forests? any natural abilities go here.) Interests: (what do you do during your own time? do you hunt, teach children how to fight, spin thread, carve figurines, read?) History: (flesh yourself out! tell us where you come from, how you discovered your powers, decided to join the knights, what your family's like, if there's bad blood between you and a noble family... you get the idea) Anything else: (do you have a familiar? are you a vampire? are you afraid of drowning? add anything and everything you think we should know about your character here!)

And now I'm retconing my other characters, so yeah... Name: Jason Nickname: N/A Appearance: Jason has an average build and stands at a solid five foot six. Greyish brown eyes are accented by light brown skin as well as black hair which is often tied into a ponytail. Typically can be seen in black robes which is outlined in green with black and purple stones inlaid around the neckline. Underneath this is a silver hoody and simple black slacks. Rounding off his appearance are silver combat boots and a pair of orange octagonal glasses. Personality: Jason is a rather nice individual, often trying to keep the peace among others. However, this often contradicts with his desire for excitement and can lead to him showing bits of unfriendliness. Fiercely loyal, he doesn't handle people treating his friends badly or groups splitting up. In addition to this, he tends to look up to others, sometimes going as far as to put himself down in comparison. In general, he's just a really cool guy. Skills or abilities: Sword fighting and archery skills as well as elemental abilities. Weapons/other combat enhancers: The Sword of Shadows which is silver one side and blackish gray on the other. Around the neck is a silver amulet in the shape of a tornado that's used to enhance his wind abilities. Other special abilities: N/A Interest: Jason spends most of his time either training or lounging around the library/kitchen. Also likes to experiment with different forms of magic. History: Jason was born into a family of four on the outer areas of The Kingdom. From a young age he was raised and taught the duties of a knight and a mage. It was only recently that he joined up with the group consisting of mages and knights, although he spend most of his time in the mage's headquarters. Anything Else: N/A at the moment.

Tamia, who finally came up with a new character. =D Link to postOr, in case you don't feel like going there, Name: Reik of Ryland
Nickname: n/a
Appearance: Reik is somewhat stocky in build, standing about 5'10", with very little softness about him. He is physically strong for his twenty-four years (barely an adult in his culture), particularly in the arms and shoulders, but not so much as to fit the Dunburrow standard of "brawny". His skin is naturally fair, but his face, neck and arms are rather tanned. He is missing his middle finger on his right hand, and the hand itself is covered in old scars. He has a handsome face, if a little rugged — strong chin, deep hazel eyes, slightly crooked nose that's clearly been broken once or twice. His coarse dark brown hair reaches slightly past his shoulders when let loose, but it is usually secured by a single braid along the back of his neck.
He wears a full set of dark leather armour specifically tailored to him, complete with gloves and buckled boots, and he is also capable of wearing mail and plate armour, but he prefers the more flexible leather when given the choice. When not fighting or travelling, his clothing style is extremely plain by Dunburrow standards, sometimes almost slovenly. His shirts are typically undyed and untucked, and his trousers sport many years' worth of patching and seam repairs. He often walks around the castle barefoot, although this is more of a personal thing than a cultural one. He also has a set of ceremonial clothes, made in Dunburrow, for more formal occasions. It consists of a russet and green tunic, leather trousers, and a dark brown cape. He almost always carries his sword with him, hanging by his right hip.
Personality: Reik is independent, street-smart, and capable, which sometimes leads others to the false belief that he is as mature and responsible as any knight. But since where he comes from adulthood is a status earned later in life than in Dunburrow, he can be perplexingly naive and childish at times. In particular, he is hotheaded, impulsive, and stubborn, particularly when he has a specific goal in mind. He is uncomfortable being around more than a couple of people at once, and tends to speak only when spoken to, using short, precise sentences. He is a wanderer through and through, keeping his Arthian blood on proud display at all times, with a distinctly short attention span. He values personal honour and the honour of loved ones above more abstract forms of loyalty, such as that which would be attributed to a king or a country. Although he is quiet, there is very little subtlety about him, and he is not one for sneaking around. He is certainly curious enough, but he prefers to take on his problems in a more up-front manner (hence the current shape of his nose).
Skills or abilities: First and foremost, Reik is a horseman. He knows horses, understands them, commands them, feels them — with more grace and ease than Dunburrow trainers twice his age. To him, horses are the equals of people, and he is uncannily good with them. Like most of his people, he connects well with most animals, but horses are on a completely different level. He is also an excellent swordsman, with many years of training and experience under his belt. He's fairly good in a fistfight, too (again, lots of experience).
Weapons/other combat enhancers: His sword, Houndstooth, is an elegant, slightly curved blade with an engraved brass handle wrapped in leather. It has no gems or other marks of wealth on it, but the engraving is painstakingly beautiful, depicting many of the symbols associated with his house. Reik also carries a hunting knife on his belt, but it is not generally used for combat.
Other special abilities: Reik has an excellent sense of hearing, and he's good at wilderness survival. He's surprisingly good with children, and, as per tradition, he was raised to be proficient at sewing, cooking, and most domestic tasks.
Interests: Most of his free time is spent outside. He is often in the stables, taking care of his horse, or other horses if he feels they aren't being looked after properly by their owners. He practises his swordplay and trains to maintain his fitness level as often as he can, and in the evenings, if he has absolutely nothing else to do, he can frequently be found in a lower town tavern, drinking and brawling and generally getting into trouble.
History: Reik was born into a noble house in the quasi-country of Arthia in the northeastern mountains, just north of the desert. As such, his family owns a fief and is well-off financially, although his status affords him more social standing than it does personal wealth, as excessive personal embellishment is not generally seen as important or appropriate in his culture. Arthians were, until fairly recently, a generally nomadic people, and as such the wanderlust still burns brightly in their veins. It is a common rite of passage for a young man or woman to spend several years away from home in their early adulthood in order to see the world, learn about life, and make a name for themselves.
It is through this journey that Reik has ended up in Dunburrow. His decision to train as a knight for the kingdom had more to do with the prospect of adventuring and free room and board than it had to do with any sense of loyalty to the King. He is, however, more than willing to serve with duty and respect, so long as his personal freedom is guaranteed.
He finds Dunburrow a bit of an odd place in general, though. It's too colourful and it hurts his eyes, the food tastes like wax, and everyone seems to go through most of their life attending dances.
Anything else: Arthia has a bit of a problem with rock dragons (bear-sized creatures more like giant lizards than anything else), and a lot of young Arthians' spare time is sucked up by beating the dragons back into the mountains. When he was seventeen, Reik had a memorable clash with a rock dragon that had been harassing his family's sheep, culminating in the loss of a finger on his right hand. Although he is ambidextrous, his right hand had been his sword hand and the missing finger forced him to switch to his left. However, even more devastating was the loss of the ring that had been on his finger and was now in the belly of a rock dragon — it had been a family heirloom, and he was quite fond of it. He has told no one that he lost it, and is still secretly hoping to get it back one day. He has held a particular vendetta against rock dragons ever since.
One of his major handicaps is his nearsightedness, making him all but useless with all forms of ranged weaponry.
He brought two animals with him from Arthia: Shaatha, his horse; and Sparrowhawk, his dog. Shaatha is a fjord horse, a gorgeous mare with a red dun coat — sturdy, agile, and dependable. She is quite literally his closest friend and practically his wife. Sparrowhawk is a mixed breed with a long, shiny red and gold coat, trained as a hunting dog. While to most people in Dunburrow this means a dog capable of retrieving the animal that its owner kills, Sparrowhawk takes this definition a little further and actually hunts in Reik's place. This is useful, as Reik's sense of aim is such that he can't usually hunt for his own meals while travelling. Now that he's settled in Dunburrow, Sparrowhawk still leaves a duck at the foot of his bed every morning — usually still alive, and usually from one of the king's duckponds. Tamia is now officially retired from the roleplaying front lines. Yay. Edit: If you could just list him as Reik, please, that would be great. =D Thanks!

I'll reuse Gelquie's profile from the Mage's guild. Name: Gellerana Lien Quiri Nickname: Gelquie (Pronounced: GEL-KEY)
Age: She doesn't say. About 18-23.
Appearance: Between medium and short height. White. Medium brown hair that goes down to just above her shoulder blades, with 5 light grey hairpieces holding parts of her hair at the length just above her shoulders. Has blue eyes that'll have some green when she's angry.
Clothing: Blue-green, loose-fitting clothing (pants, shirt, has a hood), and a belt with some pouches on there, where she keeps some of her smaller stuff like spell components, small snacks, or stuff she just finds interesting.
Skills or abilities: Illusion magic (can create images, create and control solid and unintelligent images of things, make things look different, impart sounds, and other general stuff) and similar. Also has a tiny bit of magic dealing with pure pain, but she rarely uses it or even mentions it.
Weapons/other combat enhancers: Carries a dagger around and will sometimes cast with it, but otherwise doesn't use it in battle very often. Does enhance her illusionist powers, but to a small degree (she can live without it and be proficient).
Other special abilities: Has some basic herb-gathering and very minor alchemy skills. She knows how to use her dagger in battle at least to a minimal degree, she just doesn’t, partially because she prefers distancing herself.
Bio: Gelquie grew up in the mountains at a fair distance from the guilds and Tabloid Town. She had heard of the place in her childhood, and there would be occasional emissaries to the town for supplies they otherwise couldn’t get and rough tales of the happenings of the town.
Her township had tight regulations and was otherwise strict about people leaving the town if they weren’t of age or for various reasons/excuses (including gender-related). Gelquie followed most of them to a certain degree, sometimes willingly, sometimes while scoffing and rolling her eyes. But she often bent the rules anyway, taking small trips just to tiny distances away from the town, subjecting her to frequent punishments. At 12, she took another outing, where she had an odd experience that she won’t talk about. But ever since, she’d either lock herself up in her room or go on more outings, honing her developing magic skill.
Gelquie one day abandoned her home for a very good reason that she won't talk about to people she doesn't trust, and she will become very bitter if you ask her. After leaving, she’d been traveling for some time (losing track of how long), but she eventually made it to the general area where the guilds were. She came right during the third Guild War.

So, I'm ditching the character I signed up with originally with the Mages. XD; I'm starting over with Zephyr here. His bio's not quite complete, but I thought I'd better post what I have for the time being. Name: Zephyr Nickname: he just goes by Zephyr Appearance: Zephyr is twenty years old, but despite this, he has thick, white, curly hair that's a few inches long. He has narrow, icy blue eyes and pale skin, and a strangely round, childlike face that contrasts with the calculating expression he often wears. Personality: He's rather arrogant and tends to be condescending. Tends to think everyone around him is completely idiotic and treats them as such. He grew up in a wealthy, powerful family, and this is obvious in his mannerisms, even if he doesn't bring it up often. Skills or abilities: He has some skill in fire and ice magic. Mostly he can freeze things, melt things, or set things on fire to a limited extent. He also has a heat-sensing ability that allows him to tell if something warm is hidden somewhere. He's eager to learn more magic, though, when he gets the chance. Weapons/other combat enhancers: He has a sword - a rapier or something, probably. Though I don't know much about swords, in general. >_> He's pretty good with it; he had some pretty good training. Other special abilities: *shrug* Not much that hasn't been covered above, that I can think of. Interests: Reads a lot. Very educated. Especially likes reading about history and theory of international relations and/or war. History: Came from a distant kingdom; seeks to increase his own knowledge and power in Dunburrow. He primarily wants to learn magic, as he couldn't in his home kingdom, but he's also supposed to report back what he learns about Dunburrow to his kingdom, for them to use the info as they please. (I'll expand more on this later) Anything else: ...I'll probably think of things later. >_>

Post by ♥ Azzie on Oct 13, 2012 22:43:18 GMT -5
Name: Azalea Greene Nickname: Azzie, Az, etc.
Appearance: Azalea is a plain faerie with messy paper-white hair down to her shoulders and skin the same color. She has green eyes. Her wings look similar to an Air Faerie's, but are white. She usually wears light clothes, and her most commonly-seen outfit is a light magenta T-shirt and a blue skirt that goes just past her knees.
Personality: Azzie is pretty easygoing, sometimes often to the point of laziness. She tends to be pretty casual in almost everything, and shies away from formal and ordered things. She's very concerned about her friends and can be a horrible judge of character, though it's unsure if she actually is this or just doesn't care. (It's a little of both, really.) She also really loves animals.
Skills or abilities: Inherent to Azzie is her rainbow abilities, which... are far less useful than they sound. Mainly she can change objects' colors, create rainbows with her hands, make tiny rainbow fireworks (the explosions are usually about the size of a golf ball, maybe a bit bigger) and make soap bubbles/control them. She's also learned to make shields on herself or others, and it's this that she's worked on honing the most. Still, they tend to break after taking a hit. Before she learned the fireworks she simply sent sparks out, which tended to make people giggle and possibly heal a bit of damage, but they were ultimately pretty useless and if they healed at all it wasn't enough to prove they did, so she no longer bothers with this.
Weapons/other combat enhancers: Pretty much nothing. She's very much a non-combatant. Her only real contributions to past fights has been her shields and, a couple of times, stepping on people's toes. (Once she also threw shoes. They both missed and she felt silly.)
Other special abilities: Being a faerie, Azzie can fly. This ability is tied to her magic and without it, or when her wings are wet, she can't do it. She also is able to shrink down to 'bottlesize', which she mainly does when very excited or to perch on someone or something small.
Interests: Azzie can usually be found somewhere around Tabloid Town or one of its suburbs. Occasionally in a tree. Other than that she likes reading, flying around, swimming, and singing. (Swimming she's not too good at anymore, but she still tries.) Also it's a known fact that if there is something cute and/or friendly somewhere and Azzie hears about it, she's very likely to be there too soon.
History: When she was nine years old Azzie found a portal to Faerieland, and made a few friends. A few months later she moved there full time. At the age of fifteen she found the planet NTWF and moved there. (This is left so vague because I really really need to make a new backstory or something.)
Anything else: Due to an error in paperwork, Azzie thought she joined the Mages' Guild four years ago, but the form never actually got sent in. As a result she never actually joined, and has been squatting on Manor property ever since. Oops.
