Ooh, what a coincidence because the same thing’s been on my mind lately! I even have the tattoo idea and spot figured out, and I’ve been browsing recommended shops in my area. I’d probably even make the leap of getting a consultation somewhere if I weren’t also in the process of moving, as I should probably prioritize my money towards that first xD I have the goal of getting the tattoo process officially started by year’s end of start of next year, though! Do you have an idea of what you might want to get? I have a few ideas at the moment! I keep flip-flopping because I want something meaningful, and because I'm scared I'll pick something I later regret. xD Way back when, I wanted a cute little dragon perched on a compass rose. I've also considered a d20, or some flowers, and then last night when browsing work by my friend's artist, I saw the most beautiful sailing ship with all sails unfurled and it gave me a little thrill, because I love big old sailing ships! But that last one would be a bit complex, probably not good for a first tattoo because I have no idea how good my pain tolerance is just yet (I'm pretty good at dealing with like...dull pain, but the sharp pain of those needles seems quite different!) But yeah, I do know where I'd want it! On my forearm, as it would be easy to admire but also easy to conceal if I really needed to. What was your tattoo idea? :-O Haha, I feel on the flip-flopping xD Those all sound like really cool ideas and related to what you love, so I’m sure were you to choose one of them they’d turn out great! Flowers are always a classic with tons of potential meaning, and a D&D tattoo sounds right up your alley! :3 (a d20 also sounds good for a small starter one!) Ooh, a sailing ship sounds like it’d be beautiful, although I see what you mean about complexity. I’ve got some lofty ideas as well (like for my back I’ve considered the horizon line of the view outside my house with some constellations in the sky), but they’re like 3 tattoos in one so probably not gonna be my first xD Ah yeah, that makes sense with the forearm! If it’s not too close to the elbow pit, I’ve also heard it’s one of the least painful areas to get done :3 Right now, I’m pretty settled on the idea of getting the Blossoms flower logo tattooed behind my ear :3 Not quite sure which side of my head yet, but I think it’d be a nice simple design that is still very meaningful to me :3

I don't ever plan to get a tattoo, but I especially wouldn't get a Ink logo tattoo. It's just an ink splatt, and I think I'd mistake it for a something to wash off all the time.
A Blossoms logo tattoo sounds awesome for Twillie though.

Would be nice and small though, I agree! So a decent first tattoo idea in that sense. (also probably pretty easy to cover up with another design I guess, if I really needed to later.) Ah, your horizon idea is amazing! I love that. <3 Yeah I had heard it was one of the least painful places too! xD My biggest concern is having some kind of anxiety attack halfway through the process...so...really wanna reduce that risk as much as possible! I am also scared of needles, but I've looked up what tattoo needles look like and they look more like a big pen, so I think I'd be okay as long as I didn't look at it too much. Oh yeah, getting the Blossoms logo sounds awesome! And flower-behind-the-ear is something of a classic motif anyway! xP

That moment when you lose your phone inside your house and you can't find it even with your whole family helping you search... and then you finally use Find My iPhone to get it to make a sound... and you finally find it... in the pantry!! 😳 😂

So a museum is doing a virtual tour of an exhibit, and for the promotional picture, it shows people standing around...
Except they're mannequins. It's pretty easy to realize they're mannequins.
I know they're trying to give an image of "you're here with people! Normality!", but this is uncanny and somehow even worse. ='D

There needs to be a word for the feeling of seeing a place you are familiar with in peacetime be the site of a disaster.

*Scrolls through the course list for my university for next semester and silently judges the departments that are perfectly capable of doing distance classes but don't."
(Most of them are virtual, thank goodness. Some of the ones that aren't make sense, but I don't think anyone's gonna sign up for swimming.)

There is something very melancholy about listening/watching a recording of a person who is dead.
Because on one hand, yes, they are dead. But on the other hand, you can hear them and/or see them. And not just you but lots of other people, present and (maybe) future. Effectively, they are immortal.

Something occurred to me as my twin and I played some classical holiday music from our local station (WQXR--I recommend it highly if classical is your jam)... the music reminded me so much of my high school choir concert with one of my favorite teachers in the world who would always invite the alumni on stage to sing "O Holy Night" and the "Hallelujah Chorus" together... and I missed it last year for the first time. She retired during the pandemic because as an aging teacher, she was at great risk of being harmed by Covid. And I'm grieving that more than almost anything this holiday season. More than seeing friends and family. More than the events and the programming... it's not seeing my beloved teacher and singing with her on stage. I'm crying because it'll never happen again. I missed my last chance and I didn't know it at the time. And that... that hurts.

Long-time friend: *stops replying to my messages, starts calling me by the Full Formal Version of my name (which is significant because it's well known I don't like being called this on the regular!), says nothing on my birthday*
Me: ah yes, I suppose this is The End of the Friendship. Sad, but these things happen.
Same friend: *contacts me for the first time in months to tell me about an ace-flag sweater they found somewhere*
I have no idea what is going on here ahhhh.

So uh
I FINALLY managed to finish and send my scholarship application
I had to stay awake till 5-6 am for like 7 days in a row but I hope it was worth it otherwise I'm gonna be like 🙃🙃🙃
But yeah, now gotta wait till March 2021 for results. I'm feeling kinda hopeful tbh, but I don't wanna spoil it...

dcathartiq Ah, best of wishes for you scholarship! March makes for a long waiting time, but with the amount of work you put into this sounds like you've got a good chance, so I hope the waiting time bears good news! :3 I was checking out local tattoo shops to narrow down options, and one of the shops I'm considering really caught my eye. One artist's profile has him dressed in jedi robes and a lightsaber and his bio says "bring me all the flower tattoos." Well consider me intrigued.

Been getting back into watching riffs, either MST3K, excerpts of bigger riffs, or fan-made riffs. Sometimes I see riffs that are from or about the 50s, and man, the dissonance. Like, for one, the blatant sexism. But also, some of the riffs on how behave 'properly', aka "never share emotions that deviate from our decided norm, and if you do you're a bad person." Or the topical one here, showing what bad behavior looks like. And some of them are. Dang. Imagine if these kids got into any actual consequential trouble-making, these people might get a heart attack. (Spoiler for one on Attention Seeking because I feel like rambling) Like, really. If people goofing off in theatre gets you mad, you've never been in theatre. If people are having trouble getting back into it, take 2, sheesh. The third one is actually legitimately not great... but make the kid pay for it. Also, why are you giving party kids your best glasses anyway? Or not stepping in when you start to see them do risky things with it? And the final straw that broke the camel's back was "vandalism".... aka hanging up a tasteful poster on the high wall showing class spirit. Oh noes. The horror. I might faint.
Please don't show them actual attention-seeking vandalism cases like pouring cement in parking lots or inside door locks, I don't think they could take it. They're fun to laugh at, but wow, the dissonance is strong. xD I'm glad the riffers generally agree with me.
