TIL there is a lung disease which causes inflammation of of the brochi and air sacs which in some rare cases may need you to get a lung transplant. It is called Bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia.
...but it is shortened to BOOP.
To quote Futurama "That's a funny name for a horrible disease".

Schrodinger's Leftovers: The thought experiment where I hope that maybe, possibly, if I don't open the bag, if I don't look at it, that the half-finished cheese we've kept in the fridge and forgotten about for several weeks will still be good and won't have any mold on it.

Ikr, her new album Folklore is very unlike the albums that came right before it! Personally I think it's a real treat, probably my favorite work from her so far :3 *literally listening to the album right now xD*

"Okay bibliography manager, make something out of this PDF!" (It has a database.)
Bibliography manager: "Hmm, this is an English white name in the PDF title, and the entire document is in English, I will translate the bibliography notes to..... Thai."
Google Translate: "This is meaningless word salad, but it's Thai!"
Okaaaay, I guess I'll insert that one in manually. xD

I didn't like Betty as much (even though I love the angle it takes), but I really love Cardigan, so am definitely keen to listen to the rest! Will probably do so for some chilltime tonight.

*sock slides over* Hey! Hey, guys! Cool author talk things! The National Book Festival is this weekend, and it's remote! I'm not sure if it's available worldwide, but at least here in the United States, I registered with my name and email address, so now I have access to watch a bunch of author talks. =D (Did you know Kate DiCamillo and Ann Patchett are friends? Did you know that Mo Willems used to be a writer/animator for Sesame Street? I didn't either! Time to watch/listen to more of these. \ o / ) (Side note that I'm still confused about, that the schedule says this one talk was supposed to be tomorrow, but I was still able to click through to the video? And my mom says other videos are no longer available? Who knows.) Also, if this is a thing you're interested in, the Southern Festival of Books is happening October 1-11, and I think it'll be done in a somewhat similar way? (Their page says the videos will be up on YouTube afterwards, as well.) Not as good as going to one of these in person, but I'll take it. Edit: The 2020 National Book Festival interviews are now up on the Library of Congress's YouTube page!

I'm currently reading Following Fish: Travels Around the Indian Coast, a travel/food book by Samanth Subramanian about all the wonderful cuisines and cultures around fish on the Indian coastline. Reviewers called it "delightful," and I could use some delightful content right now. Anyway, the reviewers are right. Love the prose and energy in this book. I feel like the author loves the content he's writing about and loves to write, in general.
The only downside is that I probably can't get any of this delicious fish unless I go to India--which is, like, probably the point of travel lit. But "going to foreign countries" is such an abstract concept right now.

*wakes up to see an email from my professor* Email: We will be having class today, see you there as usual. Me: Wait, why wouldn't we be having class today?
*looks out my window to see the courtyard completely covered by thick fog* Me: Oh. That's why. (The fog has since burned away, I just thought this was still pretty funny.)

I decided to talk to Cleverbot for no reason. (PS, turns out Cleverbot is a google spy, she comes with a disclaimer now! So I don't tell her anything important.) And this happened. Cleverbot: You sound like you don't believe I could do it. User: Do what? Cleverbot: Remind me of the babe... User: The babe? Cleverbot: Babe with the power. User: What power? Cleverbot: Power of voodoo. User: Who do? Cleverbot: You do. User: Do what? Cleverbot: There's a starman waiting on the sky.
Aaaaah, so close!
(Cleverbot also gave me a Tangled lyric, I responded with the next line, and it got all confused.) EDIT: Disclaimer confirmed! Cleverbot: So... What do you wanna know about me? User: Are you a Google spy? Cleverbot: I think so. User: Okay, good to have that cleared up.

I was reading random forum posts, and I read the recent post on Spoilers and Works in Progress. I was thinking about stuff from there, and one of the things was this analogy PFA posted, context being how to sell a story without any information in case of spoiler. (PFA gave permission for me to post this.) Someone on another forum recently gave an analogy that resonated with me: you wouldn't go to a market, put all your wares under a blanket, and urge people to buy it to find out what it is. Certainly you don't need to advertise every plot twist, but there's definitely a point where anti-spoiler measures go too far. Anyway, I was thinking about things while going about other matters, which included looking up sales threads of things in my area because I was looking for something. One of the sales threads was a clearance thing, and one of them... Well... I'd love to tell you what that one was, but it was all tied up in a garbage bag and I could only barely tell there were clothes inside. What kind of clothes? What sizes? Nobody knows!! This had come soon after I read that post and was thinking about it, so it made me laugh, and simultaneously understand it more. xD

(been thinking about getting one for years, but my closest irl friend got two incredibly beautiful tattoos in the past couple months so it's back on my mind.) Ooh, what a coincidence because the same thing’s been on my mind lately! I even have the tattoo idea and spot figured out, and I’ve been browsing recommended shops in my area. I’d probably even make the leap of getting a consultation somewhere if I weren’t also in the process of moving, as I should probably prioritize my money towards that first xD I have the goal of getting the tattoo process officially started by year’s end of start of next year, though! Do you have an idea of what you might want to get?

Do you have an idea of what you might want to get? I have a few ideas at the moment! I keep flip-flopping because I want something meaningful, and because I'm scared I'll pick something I later regret. xD Way back when, I wanted a cute little dragon perched on a compass rose. I've also considered a d20, or some flowers, and then last night when browsing work by my friend's artist, I saw the most beautiful sailing ship with all sails unfurled and it gave me a little thrill, because I love big old sailing ships! But that last one would be a bit complex, probably not good for a first tattoo because I have no idea how good my pain tolerance is just yet (I'm pretty good at dealing with like...dull pain, but the sharp pain of those needles seems quite different!) But yeah, I do know where I'd want it! On my forearm, as it would be easy to admire but also easy to conceal if I really needed to. What was your tattoo idea? :-O
