Do you think I could quite possibly, most likely, probably join this club? 'Cause I'd love to. I love music. <3 I've been listening to Vampire Weekend quite a bit lately. (: EDIT: Yay I am so glad you guys are enjoying this! =D I created it just for the purpose of rambling on and on about this band or that musician and it makes me happy to see that I won't be alone in exploding with musical feelings. and because ntwf is infested with whovians i can actually talk about chameleon circuit and people will actually know who they are 8D YOU GUYS KNOW WHO CHAMELEON CIRCUIT ARE? 8D </joyandhappinessthatcannotbecontained>

Listening to some CDs at work from my father, and the current CD of choice is The Bass-ic Collection of Stanley Clarke. This guy can play the bass like no one's business. The first track School Days always gets me.

Kanye West and his latest album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy made me realize the man's got talent (or at the very least plenty of people backing him up). I give all the credit to my rapper friend for turning me on to his music, because I don't think I would have looked into it otherwise. Huzzah for people who open doors for me, and the courage in myself to walk through them.

You know, I've never actually cried to a song before.
I've been listening to this pretty much all day and it kind of makes me wish I was able to. ;__;

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Late Registration are my favorite albums from Kanye West. :3 His music is the only rap I've really listened to, partially because I haven't put an effort into going through rap artists. There's also "Das Racist", but...they're kind of sort of a guilty pleasure, to put it lightly.

There's also "Das Racist", but...they're kind of sort of a guilty pleasure, to put it lightly. I really like Kanye's 808s & Heartbreak, though that's probably because I have a predisposition towards 80s music (an 808 is a drum machine that was sorta omnipresent in the 80s). I mean, he even heavily references a Tears for Fears song in Coldest Winter! Recommended songs: Obviously I'm not going to be direct linking songs with heavy profanity. Also, like with everything else, I'm about 5 years behind the mainstream. .__. Here are a few of my favorite rap songs. There's no doubt that I'm leaving out a lot of good stuff, because I really don't know that much about rap. Outkast: B.O.B. (bombs over baghdad) I love Outkast. They're hands down my favorite rappers, and some of my favorite musicians in general. Their opus is the double album Speakerboxx/The Love Below, where Andre and Big Boi each get an album to stretch out and show off. Andre 3000 is heavily influenced by Parliment/P-funk, Stevie Wonder, and Prince. Big Boi is a more traditional rapper but he's quick witted and has a pleasant voice. Run DMC: It's TrickyThere's no school like the old school! Plus, the video features Penn and Teller. XD Run DMC is straight up wholesome compared to some of todays rap. Deltron 3030: Positive ContactThis is a side project of Del tha Funkee Homosapien, together with Dan the Automator. It's a fun sci-fi concept album. If his voice sounds familiar, he was in the Gorillaz song 'Clint Eastwood'. Black Star ft. Common: RespirationBlack Star is a collaboration between Mos Def and Talib Kweli. you should really check out both of them if politically conscious rap is your scene. Jay-Z: Lucifer Ignore the fact that if you grew up in the 90s you're probably sick to death of Hard Knocked Life. Jay-Z is something of an egomaniac, but he's got the skill to back it up. The Roots are a local act gone national. They're the pride of Philadelphia, and they hold a big music festival every year. Their best known song is The Seed, which is either an allegorical statement about the drive to create or just a really, really sexually explicit song. Either way, it's really good. Language warning on that one, for real. DMX: Up in Here This probably embodies everything people hate about rap: glorification of violence, sex, profanity, etc. I'm including it anyway because it's just so catchy. Notorious B.I.G: Gimme the Loot See note above. XD
