Hi, Elcie! Welcome to the club! Hmm... I'll have to check some of those out. The '16-bit wars' one sounds interesting, at least. It's a Gumi song. Looooove. <3

Can I join? I just discovered Vocaloid/UTAUloid recently. (Luka, Len and Ruko are awesome.) Sure. I put you down as 'Drop Echo.' At the moment, I'm trying to get UTAU all set up and working. I had to start the Windows in Japanese mode just to get Uta's voice to install properly. XD (Single-program compatibility mode wasn't covering it.) I think I can figure out other voices without too much trouble. But is anyone here familiar with the program itself? EDIT: Okay, I've got some practice in and made a little something in UTAU! http://omniscia-wolf.webs.com/ScatterSunshine-SA_JP-1.mp3 Momo sings tho soprano part and Teto sings alto. The song itself is the Japanese version of an LDS hymn. (I did not make the translation.) The original, English version can be found here. Let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions.

Momo sings tho soprano part and Teto sings alto. The song itself is the Japanese version of an LDS hymn. (I did not make the translation.) The original English version can be found here. Unfortunately, the Japanese version of the hymnbook doesn't appear to be available online. Glad you liked it, though.

Pardon the double-post. I felt that this was deserving of its own post. Okay, so for one thing, I found the link to embed NicoNico videos in any HTML page... and you don't need an account to view them. I figure I'll post them on my (Free)Webs so you can check them out in their original, full-audio-and-video-quality glory. In fact, I've already done some of that. You see, while listening to some of Miku's songs, I started noticing patterns. The most obvious part is that they're about Miku singing, but it seemed like there was more to them than that, especially when put side-to-side... like each was a part of a whole picture, or a piece of a puzzle. When you put them together in the proper place, you get The Story of Miku Hatsune. Each video/song part is already great. So try seeing what the whole is like. To get the full effect, make sure you have at least half an hour of free time. I did link some alternate videos in the comments, and since the Nico site is hosted in Japan, the videos have a tendency to load slowly. Also, unless you happen to be fluent in Japanese, make sure to check the lyrics links. (It's nowhere near as good if you can't tell what's going on. X3) Also, any help finding missing English videos or whatnot will be appreciated. EDIT: In case you're wondering, yes, I was in a sort of cheesy poetic mode when I wrote that.

Pardon the triple post, but I thought this was fairly significant.
Basically, I just noticed that UTAU has an English patch, so you don't need to worry about reading Japanese to use it anymore. Also, the UTAU wiki has a fully translated version of the official manual, so you don't need to worry about figuring things out through trial-and-error, either.
The appropriate links have been put in the first post.
Also, someone is working on a Mac Vocaloid/UTAU-type program called SugarCape. It's in the really early stages, but it looks like there's a downloadable alpha. I'm checking it out at the moment, and I'll let you know more in a minute. The creator of UTAU is also working on an actual Mac version, but it's not available yet.

Okay, here's the results of SugarCape. (First off: it turns out 'SugarBaka' was the name of an April Fools joke related to SugarCape.)
For system requirements, it's both PCC and Intel compatible. For PPC, it needs at least a G4. For OS, it needs to be running Leopard or Snow Leopard. Sorry, Scrac.
For usability, while it is early into the project, and thus lacking several features, it is still usable, and can be a viable alternative to Vocaloid or UTAU if you don't mind the quality being a little low (namely that a note tends to end with a sharp cut-off). The program is about half in Japanese, but there are few enough and simple enough features that navigation isn't a huge problem.
One little thing to note is that it's really only meant for singing Japanese at this point. Accented English might be possible, but it would be tricky.
It only comes with one, silly-sounding voice, though it can use UTAU flies with a bit of work. I've got an Automater workflow done that could be used to fix broken file names automaticaly. It turns them into Japanese, but making one with Roman lettering shouldn't be too hard. While I'm at it, I could write up a tutorial so you can jump in more easily.
One thing: UTAU files generally have a pause at the beginning of the notes. They usually do this because it can be manipulated to get a more-natural effect, and usually have an 'OTO.INI' file that tells UTAU just how to handle those pauses. SugarCape isn't designed to work with those. Unfortunately, I can't make an Automator file to remove that pause, so if you want to use an UTAU voice, you'll have to either find one without that pause, or manually remove the pause for each file. I'll probably ask if at least basic OTO.INI support can be added, though.
Anyway, the link to SugarCape is in the first post, now.

I just got a email from Anime Expo. Hatsune Miku will have her American debut at Anime Expo this year. Yep. More information can be found here, as well as on her Facebook page. She'll be singing with the same (human) band that did her previous live performances. I'd like to go. ... Hmm... July 4th... I was asked for vacation ideas just the other day...

So, Crypton released a demo of Kaito's append with a clearer image of his silhouette. The song name reads as "Karakuri (no) Tokei to Koi no Hanashi," which I translate as "A Clockwork Toy('s Clock) and a Love Song."
