I'm looking at the diagram of the smaller island, and something just occurred to me. Two questions: 1) Can we step on the portal square without going through the portal? and 2) Can we move diagonally? Because if we move to B4, and we can't move diagonally (which is what I had been assuming), then the only square that we can move to is the portal square. Would we automatically get sent back to the larger island if we did that?

You won't activate the portal unless you specifically intend to do so. 2) You can still only move up/down/left/right. As stated, you can just ignore the portal until you want to use it.

Oh, awesome. Thanks! EDIT: One last question. XD; Can we dig on the portal tile?

Extreme Fishery would like to dig on B3, C3, and C2.
EDIT: I forgot to mention this last night: Can we give Zylaa 126 shinies?

Everyone settles down for another night's not-so-good sleep. But there is an evil on this island that does not sleep--wait, wrong movie. More mysterious shiny disappearances! Sarn and Tiger lose 46 shinies. Oh deary dear. Zylaa loses 24 shinies. So much for that pizza you were gonna order, eh? GLQ and Celestial lose 80 shinies. That's some serious pocket change right there! Draco loses 11 shinies. Careful, everybody might be jealous. Extreme Fishery loses a whopping 218 shinies--that'll put a dent in your wallet! Goosh loses 11 shinies. Well, you got lucky at least.
And once again, your campsites are covered in tracks of small animals...
Sarn, Tiger: You search square D2 and find 339 shinies. Well done! You move on to square D3. After a short while searching, you find a chest with 406 shinies--and right behind that, a door leading directly into the ground. There is a sign on one side of the door: "As a certified Mysterious Island registered by Adventure Regions Training Service, we are happy to provide you with our high-quality tunnel system to aid you in your adventures throughout this island. All cobwebs used in these tunnels are hypoallergenic, and any rodents and innumerably-legged arthropods are guaranteed non-poisonous." Below this message is a map showing the distribution of tunnels. At the exit of each tunnel, there is a symbol depicting a small treasure chest. You peer into the tunnel, illuminating it by lighting a torch conveniently placed at the entrance. There are some cobwebs as the message said, but the floor is flat and there seem to be no real obstructions. You should be able to walk through these tunnels much more quickly than you could walk through the thick jungle undergrowth. It would take you all of tomorrow and the day after that to explore the tunnel system completely, but you will be able to get the chest at each exit, and after you burn away all the cobwebs you will have a convenient way of moving around the island more quickly. Will you explore the tunnel system, or ignore it?
Zylaa: You thoroughly excavate B5, and come away 453 shinies richer. Not bad, not bad at all.
GLQ, Celestial: You begin your search on F5, and find 326 shinies. You push boldly onto F6, and get 404 shinies not[/b] found.
Draco: Digging at G1, you get 369 shinies. So-so.
Extreme Fishery: Undaunted by your sudden spacetime warp yesterday, you push boldly forward into the depths of the island, and in your vigor find a piddling 248 shinies. Brushing off the disappointment, you-- --Are those tentacles? Your teamwork is second to none, but your luck doesn't seem to have improved any. Once again, you have fallen victim to a nefarious booby trap! This time, a foul beast from beyond our comprehension has gotten hold of you. You manage to escape unharmed, but with great loss of personal dignity. You all vow never to speak of it again. Choosing to act upon this vow immediately, you move on to square C3 While somewhat gunshy, you nevertheless manage to find a further 579 shinies, which perhaps made it all worthwhile. Maybe. However, your struggle to escape took up a great deal of time, and you now see the sun setting You don't have tome to excavate C2, so you choose to settle down for sleep and wait to do it tomorrow.
Goosh: Lagging behind everyone else isn't necessarily a bad thing. Determined to pick over all the squares that everyone else rushed past, you take your time searching B1. Your patience is rewarded with a further 420 shinies. Pretty good.
Shiny count: Sarn-Tiger: 1155 shinies Zylaa: 1216 shinies (including the gift you got from Extreme Fishery) GLQ-Celestial: 1647 shinies Draco: 568 shinies Extreme Fishery: 2665 shinies Goosh: 980 shinies

The image of the smaller island in the first post seems to show B2 and C2 as being excavated, rather than B3 and C3. Is this a mistake?
EDIT: Extreme Fishery would like to dig on C2, B2, and B1.

Also, once the tunnels are cleared out, can anyone use them?
Extreme Fishery, you guys are spiffy. <3 Many thanks!

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, the map looks fine to me. *Innocent whistle* Move to and dig up B6, please! Also, once the tunnels are cleared out, can anyone use them? You fall asleep once again...but as if a pattern was being established, you find yourselves once again attacked by small animal tracks in the night! Sarn-Tiger: You lose 58 shinies. Dang. Zylaa: You lose 109 shinies. Phew, that smarts. GLQ-Celestial: You lose 66 shinies. Could have been worse considering how much you had. Draco: You lose 6 shinies. Got pretty lucky that time. Extreme Fishery: You lose 160 shinies. Not as bad as last time, at least! Goosh: You lose 39 shinies. Could be better, could be worse. Waking up disgruntled at your further losses, you set out in search of moar riches. Sarn-Tiger: You consider using the burnt-out torch being held by a nearby skeleton to make a charcoal rubbing of the map, but that sounds a bit too ominous. So you make a drawing of it instead, and set off into the tunnels. They're dark and musty and cobwebby, and it seems like there's always something skittering away just beyond the reach of the torchlight. But nothing has come to attack you yet. You check out two different exits, and by the time you get to the second one, you see that it's dark, so you decide to go to sleep. Zylaa: You set off bright and early to square B6. Searching the whole day, you find 256 shinies. This is quite a disappointment, but what you find next just might make up for it... Tired and sweaty and pondering going to bed where you stand, you stumble into a small open area with a small chest on a pedestal. Recalling your scramble with Extreme Fishery a few days ago, you approach with caution. There are no traps here, however--you open the chest, and a voice speaks into your mind. It feels a bit weird. You found a Magical Mystery Spot! Well done! Check your PMs.GLQ, Celestial: You comb square G6 and come away with 499 shinies. Nice! Continuing on, you go to square H6, but are shocked and dismayed to find not so much as a single shiny in the whole square. Just as you are about to give up, you stumble through the undergrowth to discover a nest of Rodents of Indeterminate Species (ROISs)--and all around them, shinies. Hundreds and hundreds of shinies. Your minds flash back to the past three nights, when your shinies had been pillaged by unseen foes. Red with rage, you let loose and slaughter the whole nest, making absolutely sure they would never again menace your ill-gotten loot. You find 981 blood-soaked shinies in the nest. Congratulations, what a haul! Draco: You arrive at F1, and after some searching, you come to a doorway leading straight into the ground. There is a chest in front of the doorway that has been wrapped in chains and thoroughly locked shut. You find a cardboard box resting on it. You open the cardboard box, and take out a note: "We didn't expect two groups to search here at the same time. Take this as a token of apology, and for gods' sakes, don't go in the tunnel just yet.--The Management" In the box are 458 shinies. Extreme Fishery: You finally seem to have gotten a blessed day without some sort of panic. You start out on C2, pulling in a whopping 583 shinies! Spurred on by victory, you head to B2[/b], but are disappointed with only 297 shinies. Finally, you head down to B1, where it seems your luck has hit some sort of medium, bringing in a further 331 shinies. Once again, a pretty good haul! Goosh (Via MSN): Continuing your valiant exploration of the starting area, you head up to B2. You find a disappointingly small 234 shinies. You also make a not-so-disappointing discovery: a large, flat stone disk with a sign next to it that sounds rather familiar. You step up onto it, and in a dizzying instant find yourself somewhere else. You're standing on a stone disk like the one you were just on, but the whole landscape looks different. For one thing, you're on a hill. Looking around, you find you're now on a much smaller island. If you were asked to draw a grid of the island, it would look something like this: | A | B | C | 3 | Square | Portal | (Empty) | 2 | Square | Square | Square | 1 | Square | Square | Square |
Shiny counts: Sarn-Tiger: 1097 shinies Zylaa: 1363 shinies GLQ-Celestial: 3061 shinies Draco: 1020 shinies Extreme Fishery: 3716 shinies Goosh: 1175 shinies Be careful, just because the rodents are gone doesn't mean your shinies are safe...
